Yup, it was a Christmas gift, and I've already got a couple characters already through the Skinsaw Adventure. Love the game! Can't wait to share with more people.
Also, I loved the Jim Zub, Pathfinder comic book published by Dynamite Comics. Reading all those made this game even more fun for me. It really helps to bring the characters to life.

I bought the game for myself a couple of weeks ago but my wife was home when the shipment came and wrapped it up as a Christmas present. I haven't played a pen and paper RPG in 20 years and thought this would be a good way to get that feel without a DM or a group.
I have managed to talk my wife into playing with me and we are terrible. we have only played twice but have yet to beat brigandoom; she plays valeros and i played kyra then lem and kyra. We keep running out of turns and i am starting to think we should split up but i have been avoinding that to date.

I also received this for Christmas. I can't get my wife to consider playing it (I'd love to know how some of you got your SO to play with you) but my 10 y.o. son and I are having a blast with it. He has a very good grasp of the rules and is playing Valeros like a champ. I have also been playing a solo game with Valeros. This website has been a great help to get a little more understanding of the rules. I liked it so much after the first play I ordered all the Adventure Packs and Character Addons. Can't wait for them to arrive.

I've been playing since the end of October, so it wasn't a Christmas gift for me.
But to answer the question of how I got my wife to play, I just asked her to give it a try and she said yes. I suggested she play Merisiel so she wouldn't have to deal with any negative encounters she didn't want to (I think playing a simple character is really helpful for some to whom the game is very foreign). We played it a few times and she liked it more an more. We've been Sajan and Merisiel, but just decided to each play double characters. So I'm now Sajan and Ezren and she's Merisiel and Amiri.
I asked my wife what you should say to convince your wife to play. She said you could offer to do all the laundry for a week. (She actually said you should lie and say you'd do the laundry, but I don't think deceiving your significant other is a good way to convince them to try something you are interested in but they aren't.)
Laundry may not be the thing for your wife (we have 3 boys, so that is a big deal for mine) but offer to do the thing you wife hates having to do if she'll try the game a few times (it sometimes take more than once to get into it). Give her a simple, enjoyable character and hopefully she'll have fun.
We actually have another couple that are our friends that also play, and we've been talking about a Pathfinder Adventure Card Game Dinner and Scenario Double Date Night. What's more fun than that?

I also received this for Christmas. I can't get my wife to consider playing it (I'd love to know how some of you got your SO to play with you) but my 10 y.o. son and I are having a blast with it.
I met my wife because she was the GM of a group I joined when I was 19 - Champions (HERO system). Getting her to do RPG or card stuff doesn't take convincing. :D
She's a better Magic Player than I am, but I build better decks. Her playing a deck I've built is scary.
I haven't played as much as I want, I ordered a bunch of sleeves and should get them today. I don't want to play much without them. And all the game shops in the area were out of the kind I wanted after Christmas, so I had to go online. We did Brigadoom! twice - once as we learned (and really messed stuff up) - then we did it again with fresh character decks, and played it right. We are planning to just go through straight on through with those two.We are playing Kyra and Ezren - I'm the cleric.

To add to what Hawk said, my wife loves stategy type games so getting her to play wasn't that difficult. For about a year now we've been playing various games at a weekly game night we have with some friends. Board games and card games. She is far from a RPG gamer, but I think the fact that it was a co-op stategy game got her interested and since I know the RPG and stories I can point out a few of the cool background things about it, like the story behind the Shopkeepers Daughter.
Whether your wife plays or not, she's cool in my book for accepting your desire to play. I know a few guys whose wives (or various SO's) berate them about their hobbies. My wife knew I was a gamer when we met and has never said anything about the time or money I spend on games. One of the biggest reasons I married her.
As for convincing your wife to play, the key is probably your son. If he asked she would most likely try it. I wouldn't recommend pushing it though.

I think one of the biggest things for my wife was that it is a coop game. She has never played an RPG before and i don't think she would, she's played settlers once at a friend's house and hated it but when i told her it was a coop game she said she'd give it a try.
I gave her Valeros because i thought he'd be easy for her to play and she says she is enjoying it. We played our third attempt at Brigandoom last night and finally won with Valeros and Lem. The biggest thing is being patient as she is still looking at her card every check to see what dice she gets to roll.

Welcome new players :)
For my wife, I made playing the Pathfinder game a prerequisite for us to play Dominion (which I like less and less due to the fact that a) my wife always wins, and b) it's not as interesting as PACG). My wife enjoys it...probably as much as Dominion, at this point, since it's not fun for her to always win, either.

I happened upon Pathfinders while scrolling through games at Amazon and it immediately caught my attention. I quickly went over to BGG and did a little research. I momentarily tried to convince my wife that it would be a good Xmas gift for me, but she doesn't like buying games for me (since a good portion of them sit on the shelf unplayed). So I then quickly convinced myself that it would be a great game for my daughter (14) and son (9) and me to play together, so I bought it for them for Xmas.
It has been a big hit, we've played it almost daily since and have even gotten my wife to join in, she likes the cooperative nature of it (and the fact that it is a way for us all to sit around a table together). We've built a pretty good team, with me as Lem (that way I can help everyone out), my daughter as Ezren (she was drawn to the d12 intelligence), my son as Harsk (weapons) and my wife as Kyra.
I'm really working on pushing the role-playing nature of it, learning more about the Sandpoint backstory and the Pathfinder Golarion world in general. Any good suggestions on where to go to learn more?

You could buy the anniversary edition of the Rise of the Runelords Adventure Path. I do not own but I've been tempted to purchase it.
There is also a free download of a players guide. Its only a few pages, but its got a nice map of Sand Point.
There is also a book about the Pathfinder campaign setting the might prove helpful.
My friend had the Bestiary which he let me borrow to look through. That gave a bit more feel to some of the monsters for me.
And there is a free download of a Bonus Bestiary available.

To answer the poll: I did! Oh, and fancy meeting you here, Lord M.
My wife and I put a bunch of games on our Christmas list this year. Mostly Euro-games, dungeon crawlers and card games. My wife hadn't expressed much interest in PACG, but got it for me for Christmas.
Turns out she loves it. We've played through the complete starter box with a pairing of Kyra/Seoni and a quartet of Seoni, Valeros, Kyra and Merisiel. We're getting the Character Addon Pack and decks two and three tomorrow (if tracking is accurate...). I suspect we'll be finishing all of the new stuff before we get to any more of the new games, including making a new four character group with some of the new classes (thinking Barbarian, Hunter, Paladin and Druid for that group).
Rulebook shenanigans aside, my wife had little trouble picking up the game. She's played a lot of CCGs with me in the past, and a simple "would this be cheesy?" test solved most of our rules questions in play time, without having to resort to the FAQ or errata.
Our verdict: The game's great, just needs better editing and the quality of the cards could be stepped up just a notch. We plan to consume the whole thing. At least twice. And do the same for Skull and Shackles.
