Monastic Mount + Animal Companion (ECL-3 until boon companion, then full level) Makes for quite the beefy mount.
Since sohei can grab mounted combat feats as bonus feats (that align quite well with said bonus feats' levels, incidentally), and most of them are dependent on skill ranks, not BAB, which means he can grab most of them up front, so i thought, why not?
i'm thinking something like:

For the mount go with the Bodyguard archetype, pick up Bodyguard and In Harm's Way for combat shenanigans (they aim for you, horse takes the attack from IHW, you then negate it with mounted combat), and Narrow Frame so you can actually take it places, and maybe Sure-Footed or Wind Stance later.
Then again, this is assuming the feats need to line up with their prereqs. since theyre monk feats they may not need to, which throws this all out the window--you could grab mounted skirmisher at level 10, just after your fancy new iterative, or even at level 6 if you wanted.
Not sure where to take it from here.
@bender- nature soul and animal ally (both from Faiths and Philosophies) get you an animal companion (from a short list of options, at lvl -3).
@OP- i would definitely move Boon Companion up to 7th. remember, lance is in the spear weapon group so you'll be able to flurry with one starting at 6th... the extra attack bonus and additional attack(s) diminish the usefulness of furious focus (its still a decent feat, especially when you charge since you won't have pounce, but not as good IMO as boon companion).
edit: i actually built something like this for a gestalt campaign... he was cavalier/sohei with 10 levels of barbarian, so he added pounce (and ferocious mount) to his full AC+monastic mount, lol. he ended up looking so incredibly powerful that i switched to something else.
at that point it'd be "RAGELANCEPOUNCE Plus". good points on furious focus and boon companion, they have been switched in my build doc.
@666bender: nature soul and animal ally get you an animal companion (as the class feature) at your character level -3. pretty nifty really.
i called it "RAGELANCEPOUNCEFLURRY" but even that didn't do it full justice because your mount is actually raging too and with order of the sword you add your mount's Str bonus to your attacks too when charging (plus other 'incidentals' like challenge bonuses and the ability to spend a ki point for another extra attack on RAGELANCEPOUNCEFLURRY)
