Dear One and All,
I am pleased as hell to be the foreman of the construction of the most flash Pathfinder Lodge this side of Boing Boing: the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge!!!
As someone who has frequently searched the Paizo messageboards hunting for evidence of Pathfinder Society life out here in southern New Zealand, I've taken it upon myself to get the party (literally) started. I am your Venture-Lieutenant for Pathfinder Society. What is Pathfinder Society? Well, you could click on the little icon just below the purple Golem by the Paizo logo at the top right corner of the page, or I could give you a quick summary.
Pathfinder Society (PFS) is an organized and interactive worldwide campaign using the rules of your favorite role-playing game, Pathfinder. PFS characters look almost exactly like regular Pathfinder characters with just a few tweaks (see the PFS section for more details). The PFS campaign is played out using 4-hour-long gaming scenarios written by Paizo, as well as occasional modules and other fun things. You don't need to commit to more than one game at a time, because the games are separate and complete at the end of the scenario. What's more, you can take your Pathfinder Society character to any PFS Lodge or convention around the WORLD and hop into a game. Sound like fun? Then come join us!
We're a social and sociable bunch, and always looking for new players. You need no books, no dice, no characters to start playing with us. We only insist upon your imagination and a healthy thirst for adventure. Post your queries/questions here, hit me with a private message, or find us on Meetup at:

Happy Happy Joy Joy!!!

Hey y'all...
Have you heard the news?
Pathfinder Society Captain Mike Brock will be coming to Dunedin in May of 2014! He's coming to attend Armageddon Expo May 24-25 in Hamilton, and will be looking for PFS gamers of all types to step up and knock him out of his socks!
(Note: Do not ACTUALLY try to knock Mike Brock out of his socks. Brock in Socks; why do I sound like Dr. Seuss?)
So how does one find out about this and other Armageddon Expo events? *cough cough* Armageddon Dunedin March 1-2 *cough cough*
Why, HERE, of course!
And if you're interested in playing some games, meeting up with like-minded souls, or rocking out with your natural d20s (I don't know what that means)....then check out these links!
And very soon.....a NZ gamer site. Wanna sneak peek? Ok. Shhhhhh......

Dear Carl,
The Mists of Mwangi have been parted by our intrepid band of Pathfinders, but still more fell beasties and foes await!
We're thinking about making this a regular weekly gig. We'd love to have you, Carl. And I'd be happy to organize another Meetup for coffee and get-together. I may even pepper some of the appropriate spots (comic stores, etc) with the appropriate papers (invites).
I'll propose it on the Dunedin site. Also, Carl, check out the NZ gamer site as noted in my above-email and register!
Cheers and natural 20s,
Dink (Paul)

We had a great time last night at the latest Dunedin PFS Meetup! No games, but general scheming occurred, and many evil laughs were had.
What?! You didn't know about it?! Well, you should looks up the Dunedin PFS group Meetup site, or, if you're really interested, you could also check out the brand spanking-new Dunedin PFS Facebook page!!!
Just a few ideas; just saying.
COME OUT AND ROLL (DICE) WITH US!

No game this Thursday; I have an out-of-town conference. Does Wednesday evening work for any of y'all?
We're going to set something up for this coming Sunday...stay tuned here to find out times and what-not.
Also, mark your calendar: we will be putting together SOMETHING for Armageddon: Dunedin, March 1-2 at the Edgar Centre. What that will be remains to be seen, but we'll have out of town gamers from Auckland, so even if we have to rent a boat club hall, we'll be gaming that weekend.
That is all,
Paul

And just like THAT, we have an event: Jan 26th at 5PM at Darcy's Place (check out the Meetup Group site for the address). We be gaming!!!

Oh my gawrsh, I haven't put up a post here in AGES.
That's because there hasn't been much to put up regarding PFS play. We haven't had a proper game in a bit, but that's all about to change.
ARMAGEDDON: DUNEDIN is here next weekend!!! What? You might say? Well shut your gaping mouth and listen up:
We will be gaming on Saturday and Sunday at the Edgar Centre. Gaming will continue on Saturday night off-site, but close to the home site.
What games? You might ask? Well, you ask a lot of questions:
Sat March 1st DAY: The Confirmation; Beginner's Box Bash
Sat March 1st NITE: Assault on the Kingdom of the Impossible; The Traitors' Lodge
Sun March 2nd DAY: We Be Goblins!; Beginner's Box Bash
Where do I sign up? THE WARHORN SITE, of course
Got other questions? Email me!!!
See you at Armageddon.

We gamed this past Wednesday at the OUSA (Student Activities Center) on the University of Otago campus!
And there were already 3 other Pathfinder groups there....but NO SOCIETY groups!
So a big fat welcome to all of the UNI people from OUSA who might be checking out the Paizo messageboards as I suggested! Hi hi hi hi hi hi.
We will be back at OUSA in 2 weeks on Wednesday, March 26th. I may run the same scenario as previous, or a completely new one. Who knows?
Sadly, the NZ Pathfinder web page is no more. Not much traffic causes web pages to die, as was the cause of death for the NZ Pathfinder site. But we are still on Facebook and Meetup and Warhorn (links to be provided in a bit when I'm not at work).
Oops, I'm at work!

And Bam! we are back with a new Pathfinder Society game after a long hiatus at Casa de Paul (that's me) this coming Sunday, the 21st! We will be trying out the new tech-heavy season 6 adventures, so bring your cybernetic brains!
Link for event details and my address
See you there!!!

Hi Paul! Glad to have you back in the country. Season 6 has been enjoyable for me thus far (once you get past the Technologist debacle) and I'm excited to hear about how Dunedin players will get to experience it.
Waypoint would have definitely been better with you along, but there will be BattleCry in early 2015 for the Dunedin players to come along to.

We had a great first attempt at Season 6 tech-fun tonite with a full table. Thanks to all who came - sorry we had to close the table to those who had wanted to come. I'm hoping that in the future we might be able to run more than one table at once.
Next weekend will be a no-go for games for me, but we'll try to get something cooking for the week after - probably the night of Thursday October 2nd. We may even press forward with some more Season 6 fun!!!
Stay tuned here for more info...

And just like that, another Season 6 Pathfinder Society event hits the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge. This time, I've chosen a scenario that hasn't even been released yet! (Let's hope it gets released this Thursday, like it should)
Slave Ships of Absalom is a 1-5 level adventure. The metropolis of Absalom promotes commerce in its many forms, and although slavery is legal, it is increasingly common for citizens to frown on the institution. The practice becomes more questionable when an ally of the Pathfinder Society traces an attempt at supernatural surveillance through a slave. Sent as independent sleuths, the PCs must track down the source of this espionage, which takes them deep into underbelly of one of Absalom’s darkest industries.
Want more info on the actual game? HERE YA GO.
dinketry Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin |
Well I'm on a roll. Third game in there weeks. This Thursday. You ready for more Season 6? You ready for a tech-based adventure? You ready for a level 3-7 adventure? You ready for a return to the Blakros museum?
Awwwwww....yeah. Thursday. 630pm. You know where.
(We can give you a pre-gen if you don't have a 3rd level character to sacrifice....I mean, play.)

There's a three-day weekend coming up....smart Dunedin PFS folk will stay tuned to this page, or to the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge FB page or to the Dunedin RPG Meetup Page for information on a trip to the Emerald City....

My goodness, I haven't posted here in AGES. Well, let's fix that.
THIS THURSDAY!!! Pathfinder Society out at Mac Bay!!! Check our MEETUP PAGE or our FACEBOOK PAGE for full information, but we'll be playing We Be Goblins!, the original goblin-crazy module.
It's a classic! I'm specifically aiming this one at those new members who haven't made it to a game yet. Priority seating as a goblin will be given to the absolutely new players. Veterans are invited to sign up, but you may find yourself on the wrong side of a dog slicer.....
HA HA! Come grab a seat and a fistful of dice!
Also, hear ye, hear ye....we have three big pieces of news for you Dunedin Pathfinder-faithful...
1.) Dunedin Pathfinder Card Game Guild is coming!!! Stay tuned...
2.) Armageddon: Dunedin will be March 1-2, and YES! The Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge will be present and accounted for, and possibly handing out shiny toys.
3.) A public gaming space for the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge? Yes, Santa Gorum heard my pleas on Deathmas and granted me a wish. More news once I make things stick....but definitely news at Armageddon.

That was a LOAD of fun. We should do it again sometime. Maybe with We Be Goblins Too!!!
I don't think I've ever seen anyone ready a "shocking hands" spell and then accidentally slap themself in the face and set it off. Or, the exact WRONG way to use a 10-foot tall ladder to get over a 4-foot tall fence. Or a Club of Cure Light Wounds. Thanks for all of that.
Also, thanks to the table last night for pushing me over the border into my 4th GM star. Woot woot!
("Chuffy! Noooooooooooooo.......!)

We're trying something new this year - a public venue!!!!
Woo-hoo!
We will be joining our brothers and sisters-in-arms at the Forbury Raceway Function Room this coming Sunday for a Pathfinder Society Game Day!!!
There will be war games and board games galore on hand, as provided by the OMTS (Otago Miniatures and Tacticians Society) and your Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge will be organizing a new surprise - the start of the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge Adventure Card Guild!!!
What is that?
Read about it here!
Of course I'll be around to run a game and answer questions....we may even be able to attempt a CORE Pathfinder Society game. What is that, you ask?
So much new stuff! We may make the Forbury RaceTrack our regular Sunday thing. The OMTS already has - they meet there on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (if applicable) Sundays of the month. First time gamers are free, casual (day) gamers are $5, and yearly memberships are available. You can talk to the OMTS brass this Sunday if you're interested.
Wow. What else? Well, there are new things on the horizon....but you'll have to ask me about them in person. See you this Sunday!

Though we don't have any specific Pathfinder Society games SCHEDULED for Armageddon: Dunedin (we'll be doing more proselytizing and email collecting than anything else), that doesn't mean you shouldn't stop by our table this coming Saturday and/or Sunday to see what the Dunedin Pathfinder Lodge has been cooking recently.
And SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY, we will have Pathfinder Lodgers at the Forbury Park Club doing their gaming thing while little 'ol me mans the lonely PFS table at the convention to the very last....
Will there be some secret late night gaming on either Saturday or Sunday??? You have to stop by in order to find out.

Where are we this weekend? Why, we're at the OUSA Gaming Convention!
Commerce Building, University of Otago. We'll be luring new student gamers to their quick and d20-filled demise all weekend long, both Saturday and Sunday. Come along for a fun-filled melee of all types of gaming while I hand out new Pathfinder Society ID cards!
Sunday next - the 15th of March - we will return to the Forbury Park Clubhouse, now newly-refurbished (or so they say)! And keep your eyes peeled for randomly-inserted games throughout the week, both here, our Facebook page, as well as our Meetup page!
Table Top Day 2015 is coming - April 11, 2015. But don't let me tell you - let a crazed, bearded, hoarse Wesley Crusher tell you!

We're back at Forbury Park Raceway (in our normal room) this weekend with both Pathfinder Card Game and Pathfinder Role Playing game offerings. And something special - FACTION CARDS!
What are those, you might ask? CHECK IT OUT!!!
So...what are you waiting for? Come on out and play at 11AM. Scenarios won't start until at least 12PM, for those of you who might be a little tender come Sunday morning.
Cheers,
Dink

This weekend! Paul is back at Forbury Park! And more importantly, so are Pathfinder Society scenarios.
We'll be playing Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1: On Sharrowsmith's Trail, a beginner scenario, and the beginning of a three-part romp through the jungles of the Mwangi Expanse.
I'll be holding fast to a hard start time of 1PM, so get there and get a seat. I have two brand new players who get first crack at this thing called PFS, which means I have room for 5 more players. If I have too many players, we'll be holding a lottery for returning players who have gamed with me before. As always, I'll also have a spare scenario for the inspiring PFSer who wants to run for any spill-over candidates. I may even have some swag for such an intrepid soul...
Ok, that's all! Be there!
-Dink
dinketry Venture-Captain, New Zealand—Dunedin |
This weekend we will be bringing Part TWO of the Scions of the Sky Key Trilogy to Forbury Park! Do you like racing Aspis agents through the jungle? Did you watch Jurassic World yet? Am I foreshadowing enough?
Be there! 1PM hard start time. 12PM for character work.
YAY!
-Dink
PS. For those of you "in the know", there's a fun board games night taking place at the Megazone Laser Tag Center in Dunedin on Thursday nights from 5PM. And guess who has been showing up and playing Pathfinder Adventure Card Guild there?
PPS. Me.

Another Pathfinder Card Guild Night! So many questions...
Q: Will our intrepid adventurers EVER defeat scenario 1-1B "Instant Inquisition"?
A: Four times a charm?
Q: Will I stick around for more than one game?
A: Yes. Definitely.
Q: What are you talking about?
A: Come and see, this Thursday at 5:30PM SHARP at MegaZone! Bring your old character sheets, or at least the Pathfinder Society ID number that you've been given (you know who you are), and let's roll the night away.
For the night is dark, and full of terrors...
