D20 +14 Dice

Advice

Has anyone ever thought of getting a customer made d20 +14 dice do they didn't have to do the math?

Does anyone know where I might get such die made?

So it would be a dice with 15-34 on it? Nice idea, although 14 might be a bit of an odd number to find. I can certainly see +5, +10, +15, and +20 as being a thing though.

I am guessing "14" is the OP's most common attack bonus. I could be wrong though. To me the adjustments on rolls can vary too much to warrant such a die. My suggestion is do the math.

There are some D&D online dice rolling programs where you can save your modifiers for specific rolls. You might look into those.

Oh, I understand why he wants it, but there is just so much that could affect your bonuses that it would be rather transitory. I just suggested the base 5 additions since you could go through a whole iterative and just say "ok, and add my strength and enhancement bonus to all of those." And maybe just say "I am 2 below BAB +15, so subtract 2 from all of those"

Still simplifies that math somewhat rather than doing each while including the base bonuses to hit, since you just use -2 rather than +13, +8, +3. Makes for a nice convenient math block to plug in.

Plus, there seems like there is just a visceral quality to rolling a natural 40 after you were already used to the regular dice.

Yes, I am just looking for every way I can to keep the fun of dice rolling but speed up the play. Waiting for a 14 year old to add 14 +14, 12+14, 7+7 and 15 +7 takes a few extra seconds than our group would like.

The d20 +15 dice is probabaly a more practical idea, if I could find one or two.

It will only be faster if your 14 year old dont have to sit every roll and do math backwards to see if it threatning a crit:)

I feel that if I could custom design dice, I would color code the critical threat numbers (20 is gold, 19 is silver, 18 is bronze, and maybe something for the expanded criticals too)

So really, the problem here is that we need a service for making custom dice. Anyone know any websites for this with cheap prices?

Check your local game store and see if they have dice that don't have the numbers inked in, then do it yourself.

What would you when their BAB goes up, order new custom dice? As someone mentioned some sort of dice rolling program for a smart phone or tablet might be your best answer. Blank die and some sort of ink that is not water soluble but comes off easily with rubbing alcohol is my next suggestion.

Actually my first suggestion is to use this as an "excuse" to practice some basic arithmetic. RPGs especially math heavy ones like PF can be great way to "spend some time with numbers". This familarity can make math even more complex math easier. Too many times people, especially grown ups become lazy when it comes to math.

I would recommend just adding... there are also phone apps and other virtual dice rolling apps(which I think they all stink... I've terrible luck with them compared to controlling an actual d20) online you can use.

It could be worse; You could be something doing colossal damage and roll 12+ dice per swing.

Just bring a calculator if it's really that hard. Honestly, this is a good opportunity for him/her to learn basic arithmetic.

Dice Roller

Every dice imaginable, as many as you want, all forms of midifiers, built in stat rollers.

You know the best way for 14-year olds to get faster at simple math? Practice.

Don't give them a calculator. Don't take this practice away from them, and praise them when they get correct answers.

Surprised nobody has mentioned these yet:

Buy a bag of blank d20s and write in your own numbers. Or print them on a sticky label and cut them out to apply. Get a couple of bags and you can make them for every + you can imagine!

I'd suggest using a highlighter on the lowest and highest numbers, so you can easily see which each die's range is.

The 14 year old should take this as an opportunity to practice some mental arithmetic, the rest of you should take this as an opportunity to exercise some patience.

Sorry I'm not answering your original question but it's not a great idea to just bypass his difficulties. You'll probably find that they'll get better as they go along.

AD&D taught me all the arithmetic I'll ever need - don't rob this child of the learning opportunity!
