Welcome back Goblinoids,
We know it’s been a while and for that we apologize. Real life kind of jumped up and took a chunk out of both Krow and Areks at the same time. Both had a vacation… of sorts. Areks got to sit out in the desert and have several consecutive near death experiences while Krow got to go to GenCon and get the inside scoop on Pathfinder Online from Stephen Cheney himself. In this episode, Areks and Krow discuss GenCon and the most recent blog release. Enjoy!!

Absolutely great guys! Thx so much for taking the time to do these. :)
Edit: What I really like are the examples, time and again, that Ryan and the whole Dev team are putting meaningful PVP (with consequences) forward in their planning.
My little taste of Darkfall has not endeared me to the unrestricted versions.

Quality.
- Agree on GW: Swan = Serene on the surface, paddling like mad underwater = good.
- Agree the quality of aesthetic is very important for creating a virtual world. I'm not interested in mishmash aesthetics. See Archeage starbucks, swimsuits, racing cars. I think it's essential and the devs see that it is a key draw for pathfinder players too. +1.
- I'd favour a pit-fighter tool: Because 50% of the work must surely be live-players (some vvv good too) cracking the combat system over and over?
- If I can log in at work during low times, I'd find PFO very meaningful, seeing as work/life-balance are blurring so much I think BOTH ways is only fair and allow me to multi-task some leisure atst as work to open up time later for other things. Maybe I'm talking cobblers :p but just extending on that statement.
- Banners, sigils for your CC would be very very sweet. What about CC's own currency with it's own sigil?? *Whoa, just had that idea*
- "Sam vs Rover Faction pvp": Is that if your religion is a deity then you're going to be antagonistic to another player group that picks a different deity?

Excellent production, Areks and Krow, and a very nice overview of the info from GenCon. I'm looking forward to where Tork will be taking Influence, it has such potential to drive meaningful interactions from the individual to the settlement levels, and beyond!
Coin and loot is going to be interesting in EE. There will always be coin faucets in the game, though OE and EE may have different sources. Quests (Kill 10 rats, anyone?) and NPCs purchasing crafting materials or salvaged loot for example. I'm curious to see what other coin faucets are utilized, and what the corresponding sinks are.

Areks, you guys should replace the following file ...
http://www.gobbocast.com/wp-content/plugins/powerpress/itunes_default.jpg
... with your actual logo. Otherwise, when people subscribe to your podcast feed ( http://www.gobbocast.com/?cat=3&feed=rss2 ) the Wordpress default logo pops up instead of yours as part of the feed.

@Areks, from about 52:29
They start using a bit of choice terminology. I didn't want to point it out earlier but I've got to now. You and I have been throwing around the terms 'Nation' and 'Sponsored' and I don't know if that's where they got if from or what not but it's pretty interesting that a lot of the terminology we started to use they picked up on.
Just because I know how important it is to you to call out hype...
The first mention of "Nation" in the sense of a collection of Player Settlements was by Ryan Dancey in this post from November 23rd, 2011.
The first mention of "Sponsor" in the sense of Sponsored Companies was by me in this post from July 3rd, 2012.

You'll have to get with Krow via PM as to what monthly sign ups he was speaking about. I thought I might be able to provide some insight, but I don't have his notes.
As far as the "hype" you spoke about I specifically stated that I didn't know where those terms originated from but that we were using them. If you want to speak further about this matter, please PM me or Krow.
Also, you can email us both at gobbocast@gmail.com
We are also on Twitter and our Facebook.
Actually, you are one of the few more active community members that hasn't done a solo community spot light. Let me know if you are interested in coming on.

They do a good job of it, or did with me, Nihimon. Made me feel comfortable, no time pressure since they edit out the long pauses. Go for it.
Their suppressing void times allows the speaker avoid the 'uh-h-h' noises while we think. No need to fill uncomfortable silences. They give you time to be sure of what you wish to say and how you say it.

I'd be honored. It would probably be nice to converse again in a format where we'll both be less likely to get snippy with each other. Although, to be fair, I was kind of in the spotlight in the first Gobbocast. And I did feel quite comfortable both times.

I thought we had done one with you, but I could never place it. I always kept writing the first episode off as "The First Episode" and forgot that it was two episodes merged. Let me get at Krow and see what he had planned for Episode 13. I want to say it was either a community round table or the rest of the GenCon notes. I'm sure we can make something happen sometime soon... our schedules willing that is.

Howdy folks!
Forgive me for a slow reply; currently conducting my two weeks of the year for military service, and time has been in short supply for darn near everything else.
Nihimon, I reviewed my notes at specifically the point when Mr. Dancey spoke about Open Enrollment. The statement was that unlimited monthly sign ups would begin; instead of 4.5k(ish) a month, every months, anyone and everyone can jump in as they see fit.
Reviewing that bit of discussion, the point that should have come across (and did not) was that no matter how many players we have wanting to jump into EE, we'll only see 4.5k at most (per month), until Open Enrollment hits.
My focus during the Gobbocast was on those who had jumped into the Kickstarters and had invested already; it makes complete sense that GW would want to inject as many players as they could (towards that cap) each month, Kickstarter backers or no, though I do not know how that system will work (sign ups, pay a Goblin Squad fee, etc).
Also, let me reiterate what Areks said; we would be delighted to have you on the show (and you again, Being). I've always had problems with the written word; there's a lot of confirmation bias and perception that can play into reading someone's words. Putting a voice to a major community member works to alleviate that; maybe not completely, but the show always comes off as invested fans who are genuinely concerned and enthused about their game of choice.
And then there's me; I just come off as Krow ;)

Ahh! That makes sense, and sounds familiar :)

And I'm quite sincere that I'd be delighted to come on. And a duet of sorts with Being might be fun, too.
