Braelex backpedals, tossing three grenades in rapid succession, careful to exclude Relan from their blasts. The bombs explode with a fiery triple-thud, like a fireworks finale.

Two bombs at the thing in front of Relan (circle drawn for splash), exclude him of course. Third bomb at the duo attacking me.

Bomb 1 (ranged touch): 1d20 + 14 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 14 + 2 = 31; Fire Damage: 4d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 4) + 5 = 22

First I think I mistakenly thought the 18 roll for knowledge was my init so I provided a readied action. My bad on that. It looks like you used that roll as his first AOO? If so good. If not please do. Also with Combat Reflexes you get 1 AOO + 1 AOO for each point of Dexterity bonus, so Relan does indeed get 3 AOOs.

Bleeding from three sources and down 7 con Relan feels like he has to fight defensively. He uses the Blessing of Ferver to increase his touch AC by 2 and combat expertise to add another 3 for a touch AC of 15 He then fights defensively for another 3 points of touch AC for a total of 18

Still power attacking he attacks the creature that he believes is the weakest, stepping back 5 to do so if needed.

Expertise is 3 now. Fighting defensively is 3 with ranks in acrobatics and Blessing choice is 2 for a total of 8. So actually it should be 12+8, or 20. But those attacks are at an additional -4 for fighting defensively. I remembered the -3 for expertise but forgot the -4. The nat 1 misses regardless but the first attack would be a 19 to hit. Note that Relan is at 5 con. Even if he is hit two more times he dies, on average. So I am hoping that at least one of these things is dead.

Braelex shreds the mists with a serious of shaped explosions and they scream and hiss as several of them discorporate, the smell of boiled blood heavy in the air.

Nalar annihilates the remaining mist attacking Relan and just misses a second one.

At Vuloo ... map updated, one severely injured and moving lethargically and one minorly injured and still moving with alacrity

Ironically Relan is only down 2 points from the blood drain. Other damage is con loss and lowers his Hp total buy 24. So no life link for him, yet. At least that is how I think it should work.

Vuloo channels energy but it appears to have no effect on the mists.

They retaliate attacking the oracles and the alchemist.

Mist Touch vs Vuloo: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19; HIT!; Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2 Con Damage. Also 1d6 bleed (each round).

Braelex strikes both mists, incinerating the southern one and burning the northern one badly.

Relan, taking the +2 to hit and AC, moves to attack the mist creature, flanking with Braelex. He maintains his combat expertise but drops fighting defensively.

Nalar identifies the pot as containing marvelous pigments.

Nalar holds up the pot. "Fascinating sadly I have little talent for art." He says, handing the pot off to Relan. "I assume you'll be wanting to hold on to this."

Unsteadily Relan takes the pot. He is still bleeding from a horrendous wound.

But has he bleeds enough for the life link to take effect his wound closes. Still he looks while and feeble and, well, drained. Con at 5, down from 12

Breathing easier the color returns to Relan's face. That was uncomfortable. he says as he ponders the paint bottle in his hand. What might we do with this? He looks about for anything else worth investigating.


Vuloo looks down the dark hallway to the east, the room beyond beckoning and foreboding at the same time.

Darkvision or low light:
The walls, floor, and ceiling of this room are rough and unfinished, as if the construction of the chamber had simply ended the step before these surfaces were smoothed and polished. A single pillar supports the ceiling twenty feet above. The wall to the east depicts a detailed carving of a stone pyramid looming over a coastline. The lower half of the carving seems to depict a cutaway view of the ground below the pyramid, indicating several levels of chambers and caverns. Blood appears to be flowing down these channels into a chamber deep below the pyramid in which an enormous nudewoman reclines, her back arched as though in the throes of sexual ecstasy as the blood runs down into her open mouth.

Nalar slides up to Braelex, a smug smile on his face as he wraps an arm around her shoulders. "Well, what we humans lack in senses we make up in gifts." He says as he holds out a hand, a gold piece in his fingers. With a slight motion the gold piece begins to shine like a torch. "Like so." With a chuckle he hands the piece to Braelex.

Vuloo will then cast his own light spell and will walk into the room. He checks the room for any signs of danger before moving closer to study the mural. "Well this is more on theme for Sorshen."

Nalar looks Braelex up and down as Vuloo restores her. "I don't know, I rather like it. You wear the look quite well." As he looks away from her and examines the wall his expression becomes a grimace. "Well this is, morbid. Any idea what it's supposed to be depicting, with all that blood the only thing that comes to mind is vampire orgy." He says before tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Though I wouldn't put it past Sorshen, seems right up her alley."

Braelex blushes, something you can't imagine Sorshen would ever do. "Umm, well... she was quite pretty." After she looks up at the depiction. "But she was also deeply disturbed, obviously."

I suppose this is how one does foreshadowing.

"Very much so." Nalar says, nodding in agreement with Braelex, casting Detect Magic on the room just to be safe. With a bit of willpower he resists ogling the lewd mural as he scans.


As the party gets closer to the mural to study it, the room wavers for a moment, the hallway behind them filling with mist and then becoming a wall.

Stepping out of three of the walls are emaciated figures, nearly skeletal with thin leathery skin draped tightly over their bodies. A reddish slime covers their skin and sizzles where it drips on the ground. They carry wicked looking polearms that brandish as they step forward.

Suddenly they pause and drop to their knees, heads bowed, one speaking in a voice like whispered silk.

"My lady Sorshen, why would you spring the trap without using the pass phrase. Do you wish to release us?"

Nalar:
The creatures are babau, demonic assassins. Standard demon resistances and immunities. Resistant to spells. Coated in acidic slime that damages attackers and weapons. Can see in dark/invisible and can dispel magic. Have combat and stealth prowess

Also have a single curved horn protruding from the back of their heads.

Relan pockets the points for now pointing out the obvious use of I guess we could paint a door or passage if we need to pass through a wall. We could even finish some of this stone work if we needed to.

Relan stands with his own pole arm ready in a defensive position in front of Braelex.

Nalar puffs up in mock indignation. "How bold, to address the mistress so openly." With a sigh he turns to Braelex, pretending to look at her with adoration. "But I am sure our most wondrous, radiant and beautiful mistress shall be merciful given the circumstances."

The demons listen to Braelex for a moment and stare at her with unreadable macabre expressions. The same one speaks again, "That is appropriate, that you release us then, my Lady. You set us here to guard the location of your body during stasis. To only allow those with the pass phrase, those that would know to come here to find where you rest when it was time to wake you ... I see they found you without needing to come here."

And with a nod of his head he disappears, the other two following suit shortly thereafter.

Andel immediately begins to take a rubbing of the carving using several pieces of parchment to get it all.
