I have some friends who missed the PFO Kickstarter when it was open and wanted to donate, is that possible? I know some other Kickstarter's have this capability (obviously not through the Kickstarter website), does that exist for PFO?

Goblin Squad Member

There isn't a system yet in place to allow that, but it's been promised. Likely, there will be some rewards that will never be available again, such as Destiny's Twin.

Hmmm, ok thanks. I wonder if they should start putting a sticky at the top for questions like this.

I find some degree of personal satisfaction in trying to answer "questions like this", and I can tell you from personal experience that there are far, far too many for a sticky post to cover. Any post that covered them all would be so long that most answers would be buried in the middle.

Actually, if you yourself or/and anyone you know and trust has already pledged, I think there is a roundabout way:
You can either increase your own pledge (eg to guild level to add 5 more crowdforger accounts, and then invitations to your friends) or select the Adventurer addon and send someone the "gift" of the Adventurer pledge.
The deadline is till the end of June (I think)

Also, while there is no ongoing donation via eg paypal (as other Kickstarter projects do), I think that Ryan has mentioned that there will be in the future another site-based donation with pledges similar to those from Kickstarter (though I guess not with that many "benefits")

I would very much appreciate "Late Backer Stores" the likes Wasteland 2 and Torment:Tides of Numenera are featuring.

Personally, i was aware of the PFO Kickstarter early on, but refused to participate since a credit card was needed.

Given the high prevalence rate of credit cards in the United States, i guess this seems odd to the typical US citizen.

To clarify: i am a german bank clerk, working back office at the corporate clients section. And i do not have a credit card.

Another example:shortly before release of AoC and SW:TOR, the publishers had not installed an option to use the typical german payment method to buy a game subscription. I remenber people s$!!storming the forums, demanding payment made by direct debit.

That said, i hope Goblinworks will bear in mind that probably many people in europe (and especially in germany, i think) do not want to pay with credit card for their game subscription.

And i hope i am given the opportunity to donate to PFO via Paypal before official release.

With regards

Dergard

Goblinworks Executive Founder

PayPal keeps hitting me with targeted adverts for their 'credit card', which I believe can be made isomorphic to direct debit. I haven't looked into that with any more detail.

Thank you for the advice.

I have searched the paypal.com/de website for an offer like this, but could not find any.

The only thing i found was the possiblilty to link an existing credit card to your paypal account.

Interestingly, i could not access the US site of paypal. I am getting automatically redirected to the german site.

So i do not think this offer is intended for international customers.

Nonetheless, thanks again for the tip.

Ryan has stated "Keep an eye out on Goblinworks.com!" (Not an active web site to be honest.....only real activity is the weekly blog post.)

He said there would be a period in the near future where a "Fulfillment Period" would be posted and hopefuls could contribute much like in the Kickstarter, but it appears some things, like Destiny's Twin, will not be available when the Fulfillment Period is active.

It would be very nice to see the GW web site more active. The last news article was last December!
I know we would read anything and everything they posted there (little info sponges that we are!). But even more importantly, it is far more encouraging to the new people that we are actively trying to enthuse. An inactive website just doesn't send the right message for a new MMO, you know?

Goblin Squad Member

Actually all you need to find is just one person that pledged at the $100 level and get them to upgrade their pledge to the "buddy" level before the end of June.

That probably won't work unless the person who pledged is already in the 2nd month of EE. If they're in the first, they're unlikely to do anything that will cause them to lose their place in line. Bumping their pledge from Pioneer to Buddy or Guild will put them at the back of the Buddy or Guild line, which means they'll get bumped out of the first month.

If you change your pledge from Crowdforger Pioneer to Crowdforger Guild, you'll reset your place in line (which almost certainly means you'll be invited to join in Month 2, but I could be wrong; it was a near thing at the end and I haven't checked the numbers lately).

Have you looked at the Blog section? It's updated weekly.

Yes, the weekly blog was mentioned in my earlier post.

But you have to admit, for newcomers, to see a website whose news page is dated December, 12 2012 is pretty weak. I still come to the forums and read the weekly blog, but you might get more interest updating more than the blog.

@Hardin Steele - I agree. It's on my (ever growing) to do list.

hmm ... I suppose the issue is that otherwise people might use it as a way of jumping the queue.

Be good if the original pledger could keep their "Month One" place and the "extra's" added later get to join at the pledge change date.

I suppose that may be difficult to track though.

I upgraded from the $100 Kickstarter level (plus add-ons) to the $175 level (plus even more) when the management tool went live, as I'd gotten my brother intrigued enough to give PFO a try. I can't remember, however, how to determine whether I reset my place in line for EE; I had made that $100 KS pledge on Day One.

I agree! That would be fantastic! :)

Unfortunately, you likely lost your place in line.

However, I'm hoping that Ryan sees Neadenil Edam's suggestion and has the data to make it work. I think they'd likely get a new surge of upgrades if they could figure out how to let people keep their place in line for the accounts they've already paid for.

CEO, Goblinworks

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It's just too much effort to try and keep track of that kind of thing. I know it will really matter to a few but the meaningful impact of month 1 vs. month 2 is effectively nil.

Goblin Squad Member

Damn, quadrupled my Kickstarter amount, and lost my place. EE Month One was my primary interest in the whole shebang; yep, I'm one of those few.

Goblin Squad Member

Good news from Paizo Customer Service:

"You should still retain your original early enrollment from when you first backed the Kickstarter. Adding additional rewards to your pledge or upgrading your pledge level should not effect your place in the early enrollment. In short you're set for early enrollment. : )"

Relieves my mind...back to discussions!

Silver Crusade

I would be happy to piggyback on someone's donation so I can get some of the kickstarter rewards if anyone is interested in upping thiers. I could add a little extra to make it worth the effort! If anyone is interested message me @ AvatarofJ@gmail.com

Beyond that, I would never do anything to an hanger the brew named in my honor. This just wouldn't be the same game if you couldn't call for a round of Darkrender's Draft.

Goblin Squad Member

For what it's worth, I strongly encourage anyone who's interested in upgrading their pledge to contact customer.service@paizo.com and explain what you'd like to do. I believe they are generally being very supportive about letting people upgrade their pledges without losing their place in line.

Silver Crusade

I really hope someone takes me up on my offer. I really would love destinys twin among other benefits. It would be making a quick buck for whoever does me the service.

Goblin Squad Member

The sooner they add the forfillment system the better. I really want in on the early enrollment and log onto the forum every day for updates on the matter.

I do hope when it does come up, it will be featured on Goblinworks blog, and not hidden somewhere in this forum... No disrespect but I do not like the Paizo.com layout. :P

I am frustrated.

I only heard about the forthcoming PFO in January, after the Kickstarter had ended. Sometimes you just don't get that sort of information when you have limited online time (which I did for the last half of last year and first quarter of this year).

Would I be right in assuming that the forthcoming post-kickstarter donation campaign will not allow beta-testing/Early Enrolment? Don't get me wrong, I don't think it right that people who get in the queue first suddenly see a second queue form right next to them (I'm British -we like queuing etiquette), but I'd like a shot at beta-testing and getting in early if it is still possible.

No worries. I have been assured multiple times by actual GW employees, on this forum, that the coming pledge period will have opportunities allowing us late comers chances to get into early enrollment. I just hope that they give a clue as to what months, etc...

Goblin Squad Member

Well that's good news. Thanks.

There will be a way for folks who missed the Kickstarter to get into Early Enrollment. It will happen not too horribly long after the Kickstarter fulfillment goes live, but not at the same time as that. The Tech Team needs to finish the fulfillment tool and then can work on getting the systems in place to bring new folks in.

@Sadurian

There is one such assurance that I could locate easily. :)

The recent blog stated the fulfillment system is going down at the end of this month and coming back up shortly to handle non-KS backers as well.

Yes but seeing as were in the middle of the month now, and we still haven't seen anything. It makes me really nervous.

Why nervous? Me are confused...

Because I have no idea when it will be added, where to look for it and how long it will be there. As far as I know it is already burried somewhere on the forum.

I far as I can tell, it has been said that it will be sometime after the end of this month. If you have activated Paizo notifications on your account page and signed up for the GW newsletter (bottom of blog page) you will get notified. It is not a set date yet.

Getting in on the Fun!

Yes, that's right! We're going to be opening up the fulfillment system to people who didn't back the Kickstarter so they can make pledges and choose rewards! After the end of June, we are going to take the system down for a brief period, and when we bring it back up, it will be open to anyone who wishes to support the game.

We'll be taking some of the add-ons out of the system and removing many of the reward levels. These are benefits that we will reserve to the original Kickstarter backers, but if you missed out before, you'll still be able to get involved with Early Enrollment, get access to the Emerald Spire superadventure and the miniatures, and help us keep the crowdfunding process rolling forward.

Goblin Squad Member

Well I've been screwed over by things like that before, and they were all far less important to me. So I until I got my place in the early enrollment, I'll be on the edge of my seat. :P

Yeah that's been my worry too but on the other hand I think if they're going to open up for monetary intake again I doubt they'll hide where to go either.

Goblin Squad Member

Well, it's not the end of the month so they definitely haven't taken it down yet. That blog entry was a few days ago, so I'm not sure why the sudden worry. They originally asked all backers to get their things settled before the end of June.

Are you talking about the fulfillment system? because they said they would be taking it down at the end of the month, but I can't tell where it is up now if that is the case.

Goblin Squad Member

It's up now and has been for a month or two. If you're a backer, you can access it now here: https://secure.paizo.com/paizo/account/pledgeDrives

Alternatively, Just go to "My Account" at the top of the page and go to the "Manage Pledge Drives" page from there.

The fulfillment system for the second Kickstarter (the one that closed in January) is up now, accessed through pledgers' Paizo accounts. We have to finalize our pledges and addons by the nd of the month, at which point it will be closed and taken down. Sometime after that is when they will open up for latecomers who missed that Kickstarter (I assume).

Oops. So I re-read the post and that was how it was posted I just used my poor English skills to turn what they said into something else so I will stop with the worry.

@morewardogs

I, also, am waiting. I know that they will tell us. Glad that you are no longer worried. :)

Goblin Squad Member

Wait I am completely lost now... So by the end of june, kick starter backers have to finilize their pledge? And it is only after that they will let me in on early enrollment?

Goblin Squad Member

The Kickstarter pledgers will have to finalize whatever add ons they wish to add to their original pledges by the end of June.

After that they will start a new pledge drive for any and all that wish to get into EE or some other goodies.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

When we open up the system for new people, we'll *certainly* mention it in the blog, and many other places.

Don't worry: Kickstarter backers account for only a fraction of the Early Enrollment people; many of them are set for month one, and new backers will be coming in behind them.

Goblin Squad Member

Thanks, Vic. Nice to know I'll get the chance to help iron out bugs and make suggestions.

Oh, and to establish my character before the OE starts.... ;)

Silver Crusade

The big question I guess then is Destiny's Twin or Twice-Marked of Pharasma going to be available in the new fulfillment program? Those are the 2 main reason's I am wanting the Kickstarter so bad.
