It would require a bit of expansion on the methods used by the friends of the NPC, but the solution is simply to let her do it without raising any alarms.

Because, what are they going to do with the remains?

I agree with DesolateHarmony above - *very* well thought out! I think I'm going to do just that. Maybe I'll have "O" ask for them at the end so to take them back to Absalom, or have "E" see her do it and offer an urn to store them in while the PCs continue the mission.

Thank you for the advice!

Once the initial fracas in the scenario is over, I suspect the character will engage this power on any important *cough* corpse(s) and perhaps even carry the remains with her. Other than having an NPC object (and thus alert the PCs and players both to things that they have no evidence for yet)...any suggestions on ways to prevent that from happening?

Also remember, the PCs are not the ranking Pathfinders in the room at the time. There is no reason I can think of that the ranking people would allow the PC to do this. First of all, it would prevent speak with dead and other potential interrogation methods that the Society resources would allow. Second, carrying the remains around puts them at much greater risk than having them secured in a Lodge somewhere. Just because the PCs are higher level doesn't mean they are better equipped to deal with everything, compared to the entire might of the Society.

(Even though that might be more realistic, I still prefer Belafon's suggestion above, since it prevents the players from being tipped off that something might happen.)

2 people marked this as a favorite.

So there's something in this quote that I would not mention to the players. If you have played or run all four parts you can probably puzzle out that there is something here that might tip them off and make them think differently about a future encounter. Which could be a huge boon for them.

Spoiler:
And yes, that is deliberately obfuscated. I don't want to post it even in GM discussion.

One suggestion I would make is "take plenty of breaks." The trump card solution popped into my head but I had about 10 minutes to think over the details and make sure it would work before I posted. Players are going to be doing things that WILL take the scenario outside the written situations. Out of combat things I mean, not pwning encounters. Short breaks will give you a chance to decide how to incorporate their craziness into the overall plot without it feeling like you are railroading them.

The great thing about Eyes of the Ten is that every story is unique. The broad outline is the same but the details vary from telling to telling.
