I have a collosal wish list. Lets start with the native american creatures, since there aren't that many of those in PF.
Chenoo: Huge, brutish stone giants, often depicted with a rhinoceros like horn.
Binaye Ahani: Creepy twin limbless demons with a basilisk like stare.
Djieien: Gigantic camel spider like monster. Size huge at least.
Ewah: A hideous demon whose very sight would cause insanity.
Ganiagwaidhegowa: A monstrous furless bear monster.
Gowrow: Vicious tusked lizardlike dragon. I think it's a cryptid.
Haakapainzi: Giant carnivorous grasshopper with a taste for children's flesh.
Horned Alligator: Just what you'd think, cool amphibious beastie.
Hvcko Capko: Wolf/horse hybrid with huge ears.
Kiwahkw: Undead ice giants.
Iya: Gigantic, undescribed storm controlling beast/demon.
Piasa: Winged antlered dragon with a manticore like head.
Jokao: Cannibal giants with pangolin like stone scales.
Stcemqestcint: Buffalo people who could transform into trees. A treant/minotaur hybrid?
Tcipitckaam: Shape shifting sea serpent with a unicorn head.
Teehooltsoodi: Giant bull horned otter beast.
Trelquehuecuve: Giant octopus with huge ears and clawed tentacles.
Thelgeth: Shaggy headless giant.
Tsenahale: Harpy like demons.
Tsiatko: Giant twig blight creatures.
Uktena: A dreaded horned sea/lake serpent.
Wakandagi Pezi: Water dragon with hooves and deer antlers.
Yeitso: Ancient anthropophagous pangolin scaled giant
Letiche: Aka the Honey Island Swamp Monster, shaggy brute often described with crab pinchers.
Ozark Howler: Monstrous horned werewolf like cryptid.
Aniwye: Huge dire skunk.
Delgeth: Vicious carnivorous demon antelope.
Hotawa'e: Bison minotaurs.
Nice list...I am familar with most of these, but not the Hotawa'e. Do they have an alternative name or is there some non-online source for them? My search fu isn't finding anything other than gaming posts for a new world themed homebrew.

True, though at least we can still kill Cthulhu and mount his head on a wall thanks to Mythic and such.
Maybe some day the policy will change and we get to see all 1000 masks of Nyarlathotep in a gallery as well.

Sad to see the Yara-ma-yha-who, Piasa (advanced Peryton Dragon) and Djieien didn't make it into the Bestiary 4...
I'm happy to see some creatures not in that list, gives me hope on the C, K and M creatures I really want to see! I will make a huge proposal once I know every creature in Bestiary 4.
I don't want the Djieien to be large or huge, it must be small but Immortal since it buries its own heart in another creature/hiding place
Another idea for Djieien is a Lich Spider as it works just the same as a lich, an Undead Solifigud/Camel spider (there are enough real spiders really) that is intelligent, small but SUPER deadly.
Cr 12 would be good for it.
Gancanagh |
Funny, I did many of these list and even larger, and nobody seemed to care at all, now everybody is acting like they see god.
Anyway isn't the Ewah a Mountain Lion humanoid? At least Wikipedia's monster list told me so.
Anyway I would like to see these creatures from that list.

Except, from what has been posted about him, it's impossible to kill Cthulhu.

Thanks for supporting my ideas guys!
As for the Hotawa'e, I think that that could be a mistake on my part. I saw the homebrew stats and thought it was a real creature. I could be totally wrong about that.
Gancanagh, if you have an even larger list of new world creatures I'd like to see it. I've been trying to research them lately and info has been all too scarce.
For the Djeien, that idea could work too. Giant size was just my thoughts on the monster, but a lich spider would be cool. As long as it's a camel spider.
For the Ewah, perhaps. It didn't say that on the website I researched it on, though the description they gave on it was very brief.
GorbacZ, what are those monsters you listed from? Google is coming up with nothing on them.

Arch Devils (Since the B4 gets Demon Lords -- and especially since Devils are better anyway)
Children of the Intellect Devourer Hosts (Cuz if those mind-control monsters use us to experience life they should have some creepy non-parasite-needed offspring, right?)
New CR3-6 "Grunt" (Without any bells or whistles like gnolls & bugbears & ogres & minotaurs, but with some cool background and society fluff -- to be used as mooks cuz we could use some more generic monstrous humanoids like this.
Nightshade: NightWolf (Maybe same CR as the Bat, or a bit more or less. A Panther would be cool, too, just have to find something else to call it cuz "NightPanther" sucks, maybe "NightLion." That'd be cool.)
Lava Folk (I just remember the Lava Children from 1E being so cool; Paizo would have to rewrite/ redesign the monster, sure, just keep the perpetual (and disturbing) grin.)
"Cooler" Doppelganger (Not merely advanced, really make it cool -- as cool as the Dark Stalker is to the Dark Creeper, ya know.)
Ormyr (Or something like the 2E monster that looks like a Jabba-the-Hutt creature but isn't -- if "Ormyr" is owned by WotC.)
Dragon78 |
Azi Dragons with new art and I agree I don't want them to be the new 5 true dragons.
Yes, we would all like a doppelganger that is "20% cooler";) Though I would just call it a phasm and make it were it can change into any creature type and maybe even objects.
Sakaki_xd, all the heralds for the 20 core deities are supposed to be in the Innersea Gods book.

I don't suppose anyone replies to anything in particular in this thread?
I noticed someone favorited my previous post, which was a pleasant surprise, but still. Have any of you ever heard of Lox? No? Didn't think so, let's move on.
How about the futakuchi-onna and tsuchinoko? Yes, I've got Pokémon on the brain. They're the respective inspirations for Mawile and Dunsparce.
As far as Lovecraft, I'd be happy to see some reference to Kthanid. You know, the one deity who actually wants to help humanity?
Voyd211 |
Lox in this case is a Native American trickster demon, crafted by their creator-god's evil, wolf-headed twin.
How do I know this? There's a shelf in my room full of old Childcraft books that I've had since forever, and one of them had a whole bunch of myths and folk tales. One of which featured Baba Yaga, actually. Reading children's books is my guilty pleasure.
Here's the story that features Lox and his creator, Malsum. I try to consider myself a mythology and folklore buff, but I don't know any Korean folklore whatsoever.
Vyranos |
I have more creatures I would like to see as well, some of which I've made:
Burning Servants of Rovagug: These can be either undead (fire) or Outsiders (evil, fire), but in either case, they are the living spirits of a priest/priestess of Rovagug; as a result, when they died, the flaming hatred and destruction of their god turned their souls into living beings. They can have some cleric spells as spell-like abilities, as well as an ability to emit a ray of unholy flame (similar to the ray of frost spell).
Saladrake: This is a giant, six-legged salamander-like magical beast that has a bite powerful enough to eat gemstones (its favorite meal), bathes in pools of lava (making it immune to fire but weak to cold), and is Huge sized. This is to make a creature more similar to the original mythical salamander than the salamanders of Bestiary 1.
Emela-ntouka "Killer of Elephants": If Pathfinder did a stat block for the mokele-mbembe (cryptid), then I'm surprised that the killer of elephants isn't in here either. I believe that the artwork for this would be cool if it looked like a short-snouted crocodile with a rhino horn. It could be an animal, just like the mokele-mbembe is, but it could also be a magical beast.
Repanomamus: For those who don't know what this is, this was a prehistoric mammal that lived in China 125 million years ago. Two species are known-one as big as a badger, and another as big as a dog (I think like teenage German Shepard). In a story board segment that was suppose to be part of a dinosaur documentary, Repanomamus acted like a honey badger-barking, snarling and chasing everything (in the story board, it chased a Raptorex, a heard of Iguanodon, even a crocodile). I think having something like that would be cool to fight against-the players could think it's harmless, until it snarls and bites one of the players's hands.
Gancanagh |
Yes it would suit a desert based AP.
Damn thinking about my wishlist makes me kinda sad... we have desert based AP and Robot based AP coming up... no space for any of those monsters I wished for other than Tsemaus, Karkadann and Ammit for the desert ap...
Anyway if I have to make a choice which one I really want in the bestiary 5 if I have to be picky I pick
Afanc - Ahkiyyini - Asag - Batibat - Bloody Bones - Cherufe - Empusa - Jack in Irons - Kamaitachi - Karkadann - Lavellan - Mahaha - Namazu - Nekomata - Rarog - Sazae-Oni - Shellycoat - Symplegades - Tsemaus - Vila
As the ones that I Really really really want in the Bestiary, the others are nice of course but these are my main favorites.

I'd be OK with Nodens...but Kthanid? F--- that s---. He's pretty much the antithesis of what Lovecraft's Mythos was about.[/Sincubus troll mode]

After 4 Bestiaries this is what's left from the 3.5 Monster Manual that is under the OGL. Honestly I liked to see them all get updated.
Arrowhawk - This is a great monster and deserves a second look.
Abyssal Greater Basilisk - A little bit more than just an advanced hit die basilisk with the fiendish template it could use a few more abilities.
Digester - Needs a new name and should be tied in with Mythos monsters, otherwise a fun monster.
Ethereal Filcher - Fun monster but needs a better back story for why it's doing all that filching. A name change would help as well.
Ethereal Marauder - A good monster, just needs a name change.
Grimlock - Totally needs to be a 0 hit die player race. This is what happens when a Morlock has babies with a human/elf/drow/etc.
Phasm - Great monster but needs a better back story, lots of potential.
Ravid - Awesome monster but needs a better apperance and some rule adjustments. Otherwise a great monster.
Razor Boar - Another good monster that deserves a second look.
Dragon78 |
I would like the digester, ethereal filcher, and ethereal marauder but give them new names.
I want the (non-evil) Ravid to keep it's animated object at will ability but make it around CR12-15.
I want the Phasm as a CR20 shapechanger that can change into any creature type and maybe objects as well. I would make it an intelligent N Ooze(extraplanar).
I wouldn't mind having the Razoe Boar but rename it after a mythical boar.
I would like to have the Arrowhawk as well regardless if they change it's name or not.

Other than finishing off the SRD and Epic SRD (as well as the Psionic SRD, which is up to Dreamscarred), there are only a handful of other monsters I'd like to see:
Hunting Horror (from Lovecraft)
Demon, Candarian (from The Evil Dead)
Demon, Golgothan Excremental (from Dogma)
Byakhee (from Lovecraft Mythos, unsure about rights)
Gancanagh |
Well I can't see why Intellect Devoureres and Crysmals (my favorite two from the book) can be in the bestiaries but the others not?
I don't care for that playable race (which is the only one which is really psionic based) so the others (like the one with the impossible name coming from a lunatics mind Pthistic or whatever) can be in bestiaries much like the ID and Crysmal.
That demon is cool to and the Ruby Golem, Thought Eater.

@Kthulhu, wouldn't the Mythic elementals fill in the gap of the Primal Elementals?
I didn't really put much effort into the list, basically just copy-pasted the list from the SRD and deleted the ones that sprang to my mind as already having been covered. I'd really have to take a closer look, I haven't really looked at what the Primal Elementals actually are in at least a couple of years.
I guess my point is, if the SRD makes it available, I can't see a good reason not to convert it. I mean, they even converted the flumph, for Odin's sake!

Behemoth
* Behemoth Eagle
* Behemoth Gorilla
Colossus
* Stone Colossus
* Flesh Colossus
* Iron Colossus
Mu Spore
I believe we already have these, as of Bestiary 4 or earlier. The behemoth just come with different names and are a bit more varied from their natural counterparts. (okay and there isn't really a gorilla, unless you stretch your imagination), the mu spore is there in Bestiary 2 or 3 (i'd have to look it up which one, but i'm too lazy), and Colossi have just been added with B4.

Just some idle thoughts on possible future additions
One, more templates, unless we of course get a template book
ideas for templates
Taxidermied: Changes a non-construct/ooze/outsider/undead creature to a construct. resistant to Pierce and Slashing Damage. Can be stuffed with different materials which cause different effects when HP drops below 0 (mixture of gunpowder and rags = explosion; chemicals and rags = cloudkill, etc
A season one episode of Haven pretty much inspired the above, which revolved around hunters being killed by the stuffed animals they themselves originally shot.
Also, in the 1800's there was lots of research involving electricity and corpses (some of what we know about the nervous system, etc is based on this research).
A Galvanized template could also be cool (or a specific undead). Basically a zombie that has electrical attacks, heals with exposure electricty, can be jump-started (Comes back to life x rounds later if not the body is not completely destroyed), and has enhanced slam attacks and haste.
Finally I would like to see a "Teleport accident" template (probably with a list of beneficial and neutral deformities to choose from, ala Ogrekin) and a template for overexposure to Positive energy, which causes a living creature to turn into a living disease and cancer factory, can do positive energy attacks, and explodes when drops to 0 HD
