Fame Points & Hero Labs

Pathfinder Society

New to PFSOP,
I earned (2) "Fame" Points. How do I put them in Hero Labs? It was easy enough to add Prestige Points, but there's no place to add Fame.
Thanks.

herolab should automatically calculate the fame points ... there isn't a seperate place to put them

Hi Gwydion, and welcome to Pathfinder Society OP!

If you take a look at page 26 of the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play (download it HERE if you haven't already). You'll find the following:

Guide, p. 26:
While Fame and Prestige Points (PP) are related, they represent two different things within a faction and serve different purposes. Fame is a non-expendable number that functions similarly to an ability score—the higher your Fame, the greater your renown. Higher Fame scores unlock resources that can be purchased from your faction with Prestige Points and increase the maximum cost of items you can purchase with gold. If Fame represents the character’s overall reputation within a faction, then a character’s Prestige Points represent what her faction owes her in terms of favors, boons, and rewards.

This means that by adding your Prestige Points, you've already added your fame. The two numbers will be the same until you decide to spend some prestige (a 2PP purchase of a wand of cure light wounds is highly recommended!)

Your Fame score is, effectively, "lifetime Prestige Points earned", and, thus, it's derived from your earned Prestige. You can spend Prestige Points; you can't spend Fame.

THANK YOU EVERYONE! Sooooooo appreciated.

Now to see when the next gathering is.

If you look on your Journal Page at the top, if you've added your PP, then it will list what your faction fame is and your PP.

Example:
Lantern Lodge Fame: 2, PP: 2
This faction will provide goods for sale valued up to 0gp.

I agree wholeheartedly with the first purchase, especially for a Cleric, needing to be a Wand of Cure Light Wounds. And again, thanks for the clarifications.

GOT IT! Added the (2) points from the scenario completion & it added the Fame & PP. {Duh...}

Pointing & laughing is encouraged. Back to looking at stuff to purchase!

Nah, its an easy thing to miss if you don't understand how Fame/Prestige interact. And there's so much to HL that missing one thing isn't that hard.

Yeah Hero Lab + PFS can make my brain boil some days. I want an easier way to a) enter a chronicle as one entry in the journal not two b) track in the journal purchases and sales. Basically so I can generate a report to line up with my Chronicles and see that everything is kosher.

I'm seeing that there's going to be a LOT of journals I'll have to enter to keep track of everything. Like you said, it will probably take two entries per session to keep everything straight.

Note only may it, it will, you actually have to journal prestige separately from gold/xp.

You could keep only to journal entries, one for all prestige and one for all xp/gold, but that gets clunky to.

Actually you can't keep one for only xp/gold. You could for gold, but then you'd never be getting xp since it is only one xp per journal entry.

Tangentially related: I wish hero lab would have a 3xp option for modules instead of having to put in three journal entries. Something little, but bugs me every time :D

I wish it had all the chronicle info built in so you could select the scenario from a drop-down menu and it would populate max XP, PP, and gold by default. It could then also raise an error if you try to enter the same scenario twice.

I should probably actually post this on their forums...

I have asked a few times on the Herolabs forums for combined XP/Prestige/Gold journals, and 1.5/3 XP entries for Modules, but so far I keep hearing responses that it's either too difficult or the layout wouldn't work.

I know the HL folks come here from time to time, but I think there a lot ideas that we should swarm over there and crank about :)

It sucks that HL is designed this way. I'm almost tempted to drop it. Using it for PFS becoming more trouble than it's worth. I feel like every time I put my data in after a session I have to go back and audit every single thing I've done. So much for making your life easier...

I've added some of this to the feature request thread over at Herolab, and there is some light discussion, but I would say others should share their comments, it won't change if their isn't perceived to be a problem.

How do you buy vanities such as those found in the Pathfinder Society Field Guide (businesses, followers, memberships, property and wayfinder enchantments) using Prestige Points using Hero Lab?

Since most of them don't really have a mechanical effect, I just spend the Prestige in the Journal, then put a note in the Background section. If you're feeling adventurous there's probably a hack to put them in through the editor.

You can buy vanities in the "Other" tab.

This. It will automatically deduct the cost from your prestige, but it doesn't note it in any journal entry.

I think you're crazy. I love Hero Lab and I don't think I'll ever go back to tracking my characters on pencil and paper. Spreadsheets help keep track of what I've played/ran, but I'd never be able to keep my Character sheets and abilities straight without Hero Lab. There are just too many situational variables that I (still) forget.

OK, just went to the Other tab and clicked "Click to add new Vanities or Prestige Awards" and I got a message saying "Nothing to choose from!" I would like to add a Dayfinder (from the Pathfinder Society Field Guide). Any ideas?

Do you have the data package that includes the source of the vanity?

Make sure the box is checked on that portfolio (under Character > Configure Hero).

Hi Paul!
Try this:
Go to the Character Menu and select configure hero.
This will open the configure hero dialog box.
Scroll through the setting tree on the right hand side and make sure the Pathfinder Society field Guide is check for that character.

When you buy data packages they are automatically included for new characters but not for existing character (.por) files.
