About Sorrow of the World
- The Story of the Sorrow of the World -
Once upon a time, a little Tengu named Bood Pirp lived in some church ruins with his brood. The ruins were part of a larger church that had been damaged years earlier. A group called the Order of the World lived in the undamaged part of the church. The Tengu clan and the Order peacefully tolerated each other. The Tengu, as they are inclined to do, made a living filching from the easier targets in Absalom. It was either this or the Order’s enemies that brought the attack.
A vicious assault came in the dead of night, attacking both Tengu and monk alike. It was a quick and bloody onslaught, chaos reigned and our little Bood Pirp was separated from his brood.
Afterwards, as order was restored, the little Tengu’s clan could not be found. Only our little Bood Pirp remained. He was taken in by the Order and cared for. It is unknown how many of his brood were killed and how many fled. Bood Pirp only knew he was alone.
But he wasn’t really alone. He found a welcoming family in the Order. They cared for, fed and educated him and taught him their ways. Eyes of the World taught him how to read, Fist of the World taught him the martial arts that the Order is known for, Hide of the World taught him the skills of leatherworking.
When it was time, our little Tengu, as it was tradition in the Order, took an appropriate name, he became Sorrow of the World and left the Order to spread the word and try to find any other survivors of his lost brood.
