Any mega-adventures?

Product Discussion

I loved Red Hand of Doom for 3rd edition. Is there anything equivalent for Pathfinder, either Paizo or 3rd party? I would love a short adventure path / story arc like this. A regular adventure path would take my group years to complete.

Slumbering Tsar and Rappan Athuk by Frog God Games are longer, but exquisite.

Rite Publishing's Coliseum Morpheuon is the imho best high level sandbox out there.

Kobold Press has several excellent anthologies, Tales of the Old Margreve, Streets of Zobeck, Journey to the West, to name a few.

If you're in for Japanese Horror, Rite Publishing's 3-part adventure arc of the Curse of the Golden Spear in Kaidan is GREAT.

Adventureaweek's Rise of the Drow is a GREAT arc that currently has a kickstarter running that expands it and brings it to hardcover. (I'll be contributing a piece to the kickstarter, though my verdicts for the original pdfs still stand.)

Gaming Paper's Citadel of Pain is a glorious mega-module/sandbox.

If you're playing online/via VTTs, there's no way past "Breaking of Forstor Nagar" by Rite Publishing.

And finally, if Vkings/Inuit float your boat, then check out Frog God Games' Northlands Saga.

If you've got some bucks to burn and are willing to wait, Nick Logue's infamous Razor Coast has been salvaged by the Frog Gods and will eb released - finally! A vast mega-adventure in full-color with supplemental material galore. TPK Games also have a massive low-level horror module coming up with "The Bleeding Hollow", though that one will also take some time to be released. I wrote reviews for most of these, so feel free to read these and get an idea what the respective modules are about.

hope that helps!

Cheers!

There is a story arc for Pathfinder called 'The price of Immortality', consisting of:
1)Crypt of the Everflame
2)Mask of the living God
3) City of Golden Death.

Then the modules
1) Murders Mark
2) Feast of Ravenmoor
3) Dawn of the Scarlett Sun
4) Carrion Hill
5) From Shore to Sea
work well together.

The dungeon of Thornkeep can be played as a short campaign.

From may on the modules will be significantly expanded and might become exactly what you are looking for.

For 3.5 there was an adventure arc set in Darkmoon Vale.
0) Into the Haunted Forest
0.5) Hollows Last Hope
1) Crown of the Kobold King
2) Revenge of the Kobold King
3) Carnival of Tears
4) Hungry are the Dead
a) Tower of the Last Baron
b) Treasure of Chimera Cove

There is a sourcebook for Darkmoon Vale, as well.

I just finished designing a 95,000-word mega-adventure called The Reaping Stone for TPK Games. It's for levels 2-5. It's actually intended as a tie-in to the Bleeding Hollow adventure Endz mentioned, though the plot is different enough to be run on its own.

It's out of my hands and in the late stages of development right now (finishing the dozen or so maps and finalizing the artwork. Look for it in another month or two. ;-)

Thanks, I really liked what I have read of reviews for Tales of the Old Margreve. Anyone tried it?

You're probably already aware of this, but The Dragon's Demand is scheduled for a May release and should take players from 1st to 6th (perhaps even 7th) level by the end. James Jacobs is doing development on it as we speak.

Re: Old Margreve, Endzeitgeist mentions it in his post above.

I have run a couple of encounters out of Tales of the Old Margreve. They were fairly simple and fun. There is a Campaign Setting book for the Midgard world from Kobold Press that covers more than just Zobeck and the Old Margreve forest. There are several players guides that go into more detail about Midgard. The encounters in Tales of the Old Margreve are from 1st through 10th level.

Just my 2 cp.

To expand a bit on what Mike said, as of Dragon's Demand, all modules in the Pathfinder Module line will be 64-page modules and they'll be released quarterly. So, depending on your definition of mega-adventures, that might fit the bill as well.

I'll add Peril in Freeport as a module that provides seven or so sessions' worth of adventure.

I ran the first adventure in Tales of the Old Margreve, as a one shot, and it definitely left the players wanting more.

Thanks for the input everyone - seems that there is a whole lot to choose from that I was not aware of!

I would add Courts of the Shadowfey and Coliseum Morpheuon.

I am most definitely prejudiced, however.

And even given that prejudice, I'd also say Margreve is a lot of fun.

Seconding/third-ing/whatever-ing Rappan Athuk, by Frog God Games... especially if you're into killer ToH-style megadungeons and that "old school" feel. FGG nailed the old school vibe on this product. I nostalgia'd hard.

There's also Whiterock Castle for 3.5 by DCC, plus some of their other modules tie in to make mini megadungeons, or are big enough by themselves to make short campaigns.
