Where to start with Lore???

Ok so I am commited to PFO.

I have never looked at a single PF game or product. I want to have everything read and maybe even played by time early enrollment starts...

Where should I start learning lore?

Is there a good road map to follow?

PathfinderWiki and The Inner Sea World Guide. For the region in which PFO will be taking place, The Guide to the River Kingdoms (which you'll be getting, depending on what backer level you are at).

There is a lot of pathfinder lore, and it is all very interesting. I don't even know where to start.

A good place to go to start is PathfinderWiki. It doesn't have it in a story line or anything, but can go to various interesting areas (I believe one time I started on Kaer Maga, and ended up reading on the Runelords.)

EDIT: Removed something that could have been taken wrong... And so glad I actually wasn't ninja'd by Liz.

I believe there is also a book on golarion (not part of the kickstarter, just saying there is one) is this full of lore? If so I might get it! I need to know where to say my characters are from and how to make it all fit xD

Google searches for Golarion canon are likely to bring up a severely out-of-date but nevertheless search-engine-optimized wiki project hosted at Wikia called Golaropedia. The entire team working on that project forked from Wikia almost two years ago, and has since won an ENnie award for their work on the site. You can check it out at www.pathfinderwiki.com. You'll note that there's also a Pathfinder Online portal linked from the top of the main page, so as more information on the game is released, it will be populated with information on the region and the game with the wealth of background information from the rest of the wiki to fall back on.

Kingmaker's Player's Guide. This is the guide book Game Masters were to give to any player joining a game running the Kingmaker Adventure Path. Set in the northern part of the River Kingdoms on the board between it and another nation, Kingmaker follows the efforts of group PCs to claim, hold, and eventually beat back all comers to their kingdom.

This kingdom building is very much at the heart of what PFO is going to do, and is also a hallmark of the River Kingdoms itself.

The Inner Sea Primer is a good quickstart guide.

Having played pathfinder but never used the Golarion setting, I took some time to read through the Pathfinder wikia. Quite informative, I think.

The books are probably better if you can grab them, but nothing quite beats diving into a wikia for a while. Or a day, or three.

I may have a bad habit about it myself though, I also shouldn't go near Tvtropes.

My advice here Soldack, just pick up any Pathfinder Campaign Setting book you like, next time you're in the local gaming store. I've found them easy to read, and they concentrate on one part of the game. The Revisited Books I've found to be good (i.e. Classic Horrors,Classic Monsters, etc) I would also recommend the Inner Sea Primer, and the Faction Guide. The books mentioned above are good, but can also be intimidating for a newbie. You can of course download any of them in PDF as well.

Do you have any experience with table top roleplaying games? DnD, maybe?

If you just want lore, I'd start with the Inner Sea World Guide. The PDF is only $10, and it's actually a really fun read. It explains all the mythology of Golarion, where PFO takes place.

As others have mentioned, there are other great region specific resources. Guide to the River Kingdoms is probably your best bet, and the Kingmaker player's guide also has a lot of detail in it, mixed with some information about one of the pen and paper adventure paths.

If you want to get your feet wet in the tabletop game, try out the Beginner's Box. It has everything you need to start playing and test out the system (which won't be used for the online game, but the flavor of the system should still be in the game). There are tons of great resources out there to find local groups, but the best bet is to gather a group of 3-5 friends and just teach yourselves. If that won't work, look for local Pathfinder Society games, as they're fun, quick, and they're typically great for people new to the system.

@soldack

depending on budget the Pathfinder PDFs can be pretty cheap, you might be able to get 3-4 PDFs for the price of one hardcover.

I'd grab the Inner Sea World Guide Campaign Setting, it has an amazing timeline that pretty much explains most of the important events in PFO.

Since it's already been confirmed to follow as close to canon as possible this is the book you want!
