Ah, composing a post late at night, and I was half-way done and then fell asleep. And it's lost...
Xenh |
Aside: As a DM it is so nice to be on Paizo, rather than Yahoo Groups (100 years ago for those that were with me then), or Google Groups (still awhile ago), since it provides me the ability to get new blood without needing to just Dexter chemicals to abduct them from other places.
Loot is chancy in this game.
Miserly with loot I am, so this is good advice. I tend not to be from the camp of "that snake just dropped 20 plat and a magical rapier."
Small advantage afforded for those that have been me the longest, you cats get to keep all of your mundane gear on top of that, as long as it isn't over 50gp. Not a huge difference I know, but since you will need to be successful to get this, you will also get the holdings of your dreams!

Question for you guys - evil game. I'm looking at feats for Piter, and Track is there. Nobody else has it. Would it be useful for Piter to take it? I would need to put some more ranks in Wilderness Lore to make it useful.
My question is, what do you think? Other options are Mounted Combat (and later more dependent feats), but I suspect I won't be mounted any time soon - unless I push more SK levels, and get my unholy steed at SK7. Other combat feats like Improved Shield Bash (which is not all that useful), Dodge (probably first choice).
Other ideas?
I will likely take 1 level in each of my classes, unless I want to maximize the unholy steed thing.
Myrmidon Jinx |
@Torchbearer: Loot is chancy in this game. When selecting spells for your paladin, I recommend that you also look at the next spell level or two. (I'm doing two.) You can buy the scrolls and scribing materials now, or just leave enough cash free.
Thanks for the heads up. After talking to Xenh I think I'm going to go with a warrior. He wants to test his changes for pure melee classes and I'm always willing to be a guinea pig:) It was a tossup between the warrior and paladin anyway, so not a huge deal either way. It's possible I may even keep Jinx, I like the little guy so far.
Xenh |
Other ideas?
Norrath has horses being a rarity indeed. It sounded like horses are more common on Luclin, so horse stuff might be of use.
Since the game is much more role, than roll, I would take track, since it can be used for both.
Gwendalyn |
It turns out that there's a 1st-level shaman spell that isn't on the summary list. I only found out about Dextrous Aura because it was referenced by Spirit of Monkey. Please tell me if you come across any other "hidden" shaman spells.
@Torchbearer: Just FYI, myrmidon is a level-based title for warriors. Like how Gwendalyn started out as a shaman, then was a mystic for awhile, and just recently became a luminary. We'll get new titles at I think level 15? So if you're going to keep Jinx, you might prefer to make a new alias without the title before posting too much more. (He could use a surname anyway.)
Xenh |
We'll get new titles at I think level 15?
Level 15 is indeed your next title, and you will get an additional title every 5 levels thereafter.
If you're stuck for a name for a Warrior you can shoot for the last title "Imperator" if we can keep this sucker together until level 30.
Aside: there will also be titles at different stages of seeking out one's epic, and for deeds (e.g. giant slayer). This will permit you, if you want to show off, to be introduced with a long title like in novels.
Just did that because Jinx was taken, had to come up with something quick. I'll worry about it if I decide to keep him.
<watches as Jinx slowly seeps into Torchbearer's very soul, pervading him so completely that ebola retires from active duty>

Someone poured the entire contents of their coffee cup in the server yesterday, so I totally get if people were unable to get on to post.

What a terrible, terrible waste of coffee! Then again, maybe it was decaf...

You use Decaf as a burning weapon only, then get some real coffee or tea

I've lost that post 3x now. So what you've seen posted previously is just fragments of what I've recovered.
It should make sense now.

Unless you're Gwendalyn.
<giggles>
Xenh |
What did I miss?
Mike caught a post mid-recovery, that I had posted after having lost my writing multiple time. It looked like he was taking 2D6 damage, since I had lost my Bast post, and he was trying to ensure that I knew he was in light armour.
I started fixing it, and was editing in everyone, but then needed to run out and meet someone and didn't get around to Gwendalyn.
I got back, realized that and just let everyone know I hadn't forgotten her, even though my post would make you think so.
I just posted and included the shaman.
- A sordid tale of DMs with attention span difficulti...
Gwendalyn |
Ah, now I get it. I didn't really question the omission. Obviously I noticed it (since I posted my own damage), but I just figured it was because I hadn't declared Gwendalyn going out the windows yet. I figured maybe you were saving the 1d6 roll in case I decided to stand my ground and you needed several fistfuls of dice. I don't really know how your mind works...
Revery |
It's quite simple really. He just aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!
Kwen |
I understand the attention span problem, or when you know you have to post, and life says " Naaaahhhhh! You don't need to do that, silly human and your needs."

You don't know me son, so let me explain this to you once. If I ever kill you, you'll be awake. You'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.
p.s. If you ever decide to stand your ground in a situation like this I will not be rolling D6s. I will simply start my post with, "The red mist that was once called Gwendalyn will be difficult to get out of the drapes..."
Nalun Phlithmira |
Evil group.
I hope you guys are ok with me using a drow translator for the language. It's what we used in game on the mmo. Also, I know I'm not jumping right in with the camaraderie but I think that wouldn't be too realistic, I mean, Nalun IS a member of a fairly arrogant and xenophobic race. Let me know if what I'm doing doesn't fit right and I can alter Nalun's actions accordingly.
Xenh |
Aside: Not sure where this Teir'dal House business came from, unless it is simply a leftover of the Salvatore drow lore (think "drow" is trademarked, so these are simply "dark elves"). Perhaps there is something that I have missed in my readings. I might be in error, but there are four classes of elves in Teir'dal society:
- nothing (penniless dark elves, other races)
- citizen
- nobility
- royalty
If Nalun was seeking out his "house" to discern which of the above categories he fits into, I'll field that in my next post : )
I hope you guys are ok with me using a drow translator for the language. It's what we used in game on the mmo.
To this point we have used spoilers to hide languages other than common, or simply to write what language it is in, so the others know to disregard it as meta-knowledge.
Using a translator works for me. I think it adds an extra layer of versilimitude to the game.
What translator are you using?
If you could link it into your race line (you'll see that mine has two character links in it) I will do the same for Loki, then we'll both have something to click on when on the run/posting from phones and the like.

Personally I think you're doing a great job of mellowing the innate distrust/disdain/low CHA enough to permit a conversation. If he proves himself as a capable guide, though apparently a nameless one, then I can see it all coming together...unless the rest of the group eats him of course.
Welcome to the game!

I just wonder where you found a drow translator, how much you pay her, and whether you trust her to translate accurately!

It was my understanding that the noble class was organized into noble houses with some allied with Naythox and some allied to Christanos. Alot of what I'm using for lore comes from remembering all my rping in the mmo back in 2000-2002.

EverQuest's timeline might be ahead, behind this one, or never imagined at all (likely we'll be a vague reflection of the MMORPG since the translation to a non-zone line tabletop will force numerous changes).
We can accept the descriptions in the book as canon. After that it comes down to what the DM will permit. I imagine he'll give us a fair amount of room to play with home city-wise.
I'll follow your lead though, since I like the lore of it, and we'll go until we get spanked by Jeremy : ) Loki is allied with the queen and a spawn of Thex, unless you make your sense motive check.

I've been using THIS translator.
Odd, it won't translate "con'bluth" for me.
I have included the link. If you click on "Necromancer" you will get my character sheet. If you click on "Teir'Dal" you'll get the translator.
Nalun Phlithmira |
its Colnbluth, sorry I misspelled it. It just means outsider. We used it "in-game" to refer to any non teir'dal.
Evil JB |
Please, please, please remember your " " when you are speaking for your character. It makes my brain get ready to smite, It's cool that you are using a translator, I hope you bonded that slave with you for life son! Other wise.... :)
If the translator won't let you, that is fine, it just throws me for a loop, and I have to triple check your posts, rather then my standard double check.
Nalun Phlithmira |
I use formatting to denote speaking for character like this instead of "" otherwise I have trouble with the narrative. I also use italics like this to denote thoughts
