2nd Edition D&D question

Other RPGs

Gaming table debate going on.

Could a Mage from 2nd Edition D&D cast healing spells? Were there any spells in any of the books or supplements that allowed such a thing?

In the Forgotten Realms there was a spell, "Simbul's Synastodweomer," that allowed a wizard to convert memorized spells into a (small) amount of healing. It would probably have appeared in Seven Sisters, but that's just a guess.

There was a Dragonlance wizard spell called Timeheal. If I recall correctly, it simulated healing by pulling a version of you from a point in time at which you weren't wounded. I'm pretty sure that was a 2e spell, if only because I never played DL in any other editions.

I do recall an old article in Dragon that had some ideas on this. Basically, wizards healed only as a side effect of other spells.

Wild magic zones in FR?

IIRC, vampiric touch could heal as well. But yeah, other than The Simbul's Synastodweomer, I can't recall a spell which sole and main effects was to heal hp.

As was said before, Dragonlance had Timeheal. Interesting concept. If I recall correctly, you could grab the spellcaster's body from up to 10 minutes x caster level in the past.
