Can anyone give me some direction on getting started in pathfinder play by posts please. I haven't had any luck so far.

It can be a tough sell sometimes. Demand to get into them is high and availability isn't always so. Making a character attractive to the GM as much as something you will be happy with is what it is all about.
Persistence is key - I'm playing in 4 atm but one is wrapping up. Just keep applying.
