All,
A friend of mine is planning to make an Inquisitor. However, he is obsessed with the idea of taking a level of Wizard in order to have a familiar, even though he knows it wont scale.
I was just wondering if there is a feat or a trait or something that would let an inquisitor get one. I dont really know anything about inquisitors, so I figured I would ask here.
Thanks!

Thanks, I will point him to that option.
And if it wasnt clear, the Wizard power with throwing, that he hoped to have or emulate, is the Universalist Wizard's power to throw your weapon and have it return.
I personally think he should abandon that and go with the animal or feather domain, and then take that companion boon feat to push the animal companion up to full power.
But I will let him know all his options.
Thanks much!

Inquisitors get Returning Weapon as a 1st level spell... he only has to pick a weapon that he could potentially throw: Spears, Hammers, Axes.
However the throwing range of such weapons suck, so he'll either have to live with the penalties from range increments or enchant the throwing weapon for "distance".
Also returning weapons can't be thrown twice in the same round if you have a high BAB:
It returns to the thrower just before the creature's next turn
So he might want to have gauntlets/spiked gauntlets/cestus to be able to do AoO while his weapon is flying. ;-)

although all possibilities are all good and well, as a dm you can move heaven and earth. so giving a familiar would be possible too.
if you like you can make him do something (roleplaying wise)to gain it.
i still think that rukes are made to guide the players and GM.
not to force someone to play almost the character he or she envisions. But then... some people like the rules to be explicit. even in a fantasy world ;)
