Maybe, and I still haven't seen #3 yet, it assumes that the Joker bankrupted and desimated most organized crime in #2, leaving a lot of the sorces of coruption dead or without a means to stay in power or pay off the police and other people?
If so, it doesn't come up. The only cause discussed is the Dent Act.
I almost like the idea. "Joker responsible for dramatic drop in crime rates in Gotham City."

Saw the movie last night and I loved it. I'm a fan of the comics and the fact it dosent follow cannon dosent bother me a huge deal (Heck none of the films followed it 100%). What I really liked were the little things like how a couple of the league of shadow henchmen were the same guys from the first film or when the prisoners are released some are recognisable from the previous films.

I really liked it!!! Well worth the wait, and now I can talk to my spoiler-spewing friends again! J
I thought Bane sounded like Leonard Nimoy, slightly Transformerized.
not that much of a spoiler:
Maybe I still have some Whedon stuck in my ear, but when Catwoman said “Mama told me not to get into cars with strange men,” before getting into the Bat, I thought a better line would have been “Mama told me not to get into strange cars with men.”

this is actually kind of spoilery:
Did anyone else‘s Big Damn Hero senses tingle when Catwoman just shoots Bane dead??? Kind of reminded me of Kinsey Milhone at the end of U is for Undertow when there is a Mexican standoff and her opponent says “Looks like this is a Mexican standoff,” and she just walks up and shoots him in the hand.
