It looks like my plans are going to be washed out tonight.... It has been raining all day and is supposed to rain all night and is not friendly to outdoor activities.
See everyone tonight!

First of all I'm very interested in joining. Secondly, are you sure that your charter is "Neutral" Good?
4. Let your word be your honor. Do what you say, and say what you mean. If a Great Legionnaire makes a deal they should honor it. If you accept a contract do not break the terms. Do your best to fulfill any obligation you make.
Sounds rather lawful to me. But either way, I'm interested. I'll probably be dividing my time as an adventurer and a merchant. We'll see.

That one element is lawful. The fact we accept thieves, smugglers etc. that only ply their trades against evil is not.
This is also a sort of circumstantial rule. If you tell someone you will keep watch over their gold, then by no means should you pocket it.
But if you say your name is Underhill when infact it's Baggins then that is more acceptable. Or if you falsify evidence that Joe murdered Mrs. Brown because you know but can prove in court that he murdered Mr. Green, that is also more acceptable.
Basically we want people to know when they make a deal with us that we are honest in our dealings.

GL Meeting 2 Notes
Reports: Have gear section for military and milita. Gear section may be needed for guild reports to depending on what items end up in the game. Have a section for awards.
Scribe: Alexander will be the official scribe if desired. Otherwise Valinar will.
Awards: Recommendations for awards are forwarded up the chain of command to the imperator or guildmaster. Company level awards are approved by the Imperator who then forwards all suggested rewards on to the council at least two days before a guild meeting. If the majority of councilors who vote support each award they will be awarded at the next meeting. Guildmasters will similarly submit guild level awards to the council.
Arrows: Arrows of gold, silver and bronze are awarded in place of laurels for deeds that would earn a laurel if that person did not already hold a laurel.
Guild Symbol and Banner put on agenda for the next meeting.
At the end of each meeting we will decide whether to meet again in one or two weeks. There will be a meeting next week.
Meeting Scheduling
There are three possible meeting days: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Please post what times will work for you on those days. On Saturday I'll will put the meeting at whatever time seems to work best for everyone.

What I'm really kind of looking for is: "5pm-10pm PST Mon, 6pm-12pm PST Teus, 10am-Midnight PST Wed." or a similarly detailed breakdown of when you can attend.
For me we are looking at a wide open schedule those three days unless my work schedule changes. So from 8am Monday (Because I'll be sleeping until then) to Midnight GMT -9 (Alaska Time) Wednesday I'm totally open.
The more specific the easier it will be for me to find a time that works for as many people as possible.

For those of you interested in placeholder games:
http://www.darkfallonline.com/blog/?p=3230
This may fix one of the two biggest problems of Darkfall. The grind. You will surely still be able to run every single skill in the game at once, but it does fix the grind, and it is a lead in to an expansion that is supposed to fix both.
For those of you who have played Darkfall in the past, we can get our 2 free days, and for those of you who haven't, you can start off with a 2 week free trial. Plus it does say in that article they are lowering the subscription price from 15$ a month and removing the purchase cost.
It's worth looking into. On LotRO we are all going to be separated by level for a long time to come, and will continue to be indefinitely if everyone doesn't buy the expansions. On Darkfall well all be starting prettymuch on the same level, there is a less pronounced difference between minimum level and max level, and with the enhanced XP we will all reach max level pretty quickly. Meaning more time doing stuff together as a group.
If you are interested please post something to that effect. If you aren't... please post that as well.

Due to my schedule right now, I am finding I’m not available until later at night. So unfortunately I don’t have a 4-5 hour window on availability. Meeting start time is good for me 9-10 p.m. CST (7-8 p.m. PST) for any of the three nights.
As for placeholder games, will have to think about it. From what I’ve heard of Darkfall, I have heard it sounds pretty cutthroat. I am open to PvP gaming for PFO after reading how Ryan plans to handle it. However, from what I’ve heard on Darkfall is it sounds like a grief-fest and the mods for the game either don't do good job monitoring it or don’t have any intention to.
I don't know, maybe I've only heard some jaded players on it, but it does raise some concern for me.

OK gang I have created a couple different arms for us. These are preliminary, however I think they are both are pretty sharp!
I have an idea that each internal guild would have its own arms… however they would follow the color structure and would have the dragon incorporated into their arms somehow (in heraldry this is termed an augmentation of arms).
I will create a augmented arms to show you what I mean and post a link to it once it is done.
Yours in Service,
Valinar

So to better help getting guild RPGs going I will be posting this on here and hopefully eventually with our allies. This way we can get games going for everyone to foster good will and have a good time while doing it.This is just a basic questionaire that might recive some changes.
What Kind of RPG are you interested in? (Examples 3.5, 4th, Pathfinder, World of Darkness Shadowrun…)
Do you want to be a PC or can you GM if needed?
What is your experience as either a PC or GM?
Do you have any experience with online table top programs?(Examples Maptools, Fantasy Grounds... ect)
What days and times are you available for a regular game night?

Darkfall? Cuthroat? Noooooooooooooo............ Ok yes. It's in-fact probably thee most brutal MMO on the market, and likely will be for a long time to come.
That said, if you obey some common sense, get a bit clever, and are in a good group with a leader who knows how to survive Darkfall (me) then you can really avoid a ton of needless deaths and continually add to your wealth rather than handing it to every passerby with murderous intent. Not saying you won't die, but I am saying you won't get ganked every time you leave town, and half the time when you're inside of it.
With a two week free trial, there is no sense not giving it a go just to see how you like it. Also, if you can make it through the trial and a full months sub in Darkfall without ragequitting, every time someone calls you a carebear you can say. "Who are you calling a carebear? I played DARKFALL!" And that will shut all but the dumbest of them up. And you'll get a +20 common sense modifier on checks to avoid dying to griefers.
In all seriousness though, if I can teach you to survive in Darkfall, you will be prepared for whatever Pathfinder Online can throw at you in terms of Open World PVP. I think that is important enough to at least warrant giving it a try.

I play PF and I still have a bunch of 3.5 books. I played WoD once and by this point I have tossed out all my 4e stuff.
I can DM. I probably don't have the time to make a dedicated campaign, but I can run some one-shots. I find that Pathfinder Society scenarios are quite good for this purpose. I would also be happy to run a PbP, which might move relatively quickly if being run within a guild.
I use maptools mostly. I also own a DM licence of d20pro, but I have had problems with it in the past.

Hmm, you bring up some good points.
Maybe I will give it a shot.
My only problem though is I'm not sure my system can handle the game smoothly (and I'm pretty picky on stuff like that).
I have a Pentium duocore 2.6 Gig, 3 gig of ram and a GeoForce 9500 GT. It's my graphics card that I think really is the bottleneck.

I am not so keen on Darkfall atm. I haven't even gotten past lvl 25 in Lotro yet lol.
But aside from my ancient main you are the highest level in the kinship. XD That's my problem with LotRO. I have yet to group with anyone else. In Darkfall grouping is not only possible, but one of the best ways to ensure survival.
I'm going to emphatically suggest though. If you want to try Darkfall now is the time to do so. We could sub on Monday and I could teach you all to play and survive on my days off, plus look up some old contacts to see if they will help you during my workweek.
By the time this super 2 days of experience rolls around you'll have a basic grasp of the game and some supplies to allow you to make the most of that training.
It's not a bad deal at all. Depending on the XP scale I could see us having PVP viable stats in two weeks. They did say XP will be several times faster.
Edit: Actually to be fair I guess my main did group with you to do GB.

What Kind of RPG are you interested in?
I have played Pathfinder and 4th Edition fairly extensively, and I have dabbled in the Dresden Files RPG. All are amazing systems, but of the three, 4th ed was my least favorite.
Do you want to be a PC or can you GM if needed?
I can GM as needed, but I don't want to add a 4th campaign to GM.
What is your experience as either a PC or GM?
I have GM'd a 4th edition game to level 10, and two pathfinder campaign in the low levels. I've also GM'd quite a few sessions of Pathfinder Society play, and currently have a lvl 8 character in PFS (21 sessions).
Do you have any experience with online table top programs?
Nope. I've looked, drooled, checked the wallet and sighed.
What days and times are you available for a regular game night?
Any night but sunday or wednesday. Tuesday can be iffy. Monday, thursday, friday, and saturday are all good days for me.

They are fun. I ended up deleting my old character just to give the Marhirim a try. They have RP style to spare, and aren't half bad at PVP either.
However the starter areas for Mahrim and Orcs are not safe for Humans, Dwarves, Miridain(Elves) and Alfar (Darkelves). I think for the purpose of being together as a group we should all be in one Racial alliance, the racial alliances being:
Mahirirm and Orcs.
Humans, Dwarves, and Elves.
Alfar. (They aren't very friendly.)
I think given our neutral good stance Human, Dwarves, and Elves will gain the most traction but on a personal level. +1 for Mahirim.

I'll take a look at darkfall. Problem is, my gaming budget is currently shot, probably won't have anything going for me until September. If its free to play, then I can probably manage to purchase it. I'll work on that.
If I played, I'd go for the Humans, Dwarves, and Elves alliance. Seeing as I'd want to play an Elf ;)

10$ per month with no intial fee after July 3rd I think it is.
However I also just discovered they got rid of the 14 day free trial. :'(

Looks like a just and wonderful clan.. but the teamspeak is really a dealbreaker for me i'm weird like that.. i am just barely getting comfortable with forums (another strange taboo for me) so i'll be friendly but probably wont be joining up
I'm a pretty casual guy and tend to be lenient but I'm afraid I'm going to have to hold firm on the required Teamspeak usage.
Beyond the two obvious reasons that it eases communications, especially in combat, and that it helps reduce the rate of spies there is a third reason I consider the most important.
On Darkfall before we made Teamspeak a requirement we did have some members who joined and did not use Teamspeak. Because Teamspeak was our primary form of communication these members were out of the loop and tended to exist as near outcasts in our clan until they left.
As a clan leader it is highly important to me that my members know and trust eachother. I have a low tolerance for inter-clan/inter-alliance drama and I want everyone to feel like they are a part of a brotherhood. GL doesn't really segregate into cliches like some clans but instead maintains a friendly atmosphere where anyone with a fairly friendly and sociable attitude will be welcomed in by the rest of the company from the moment they join. This is the reason that I made Teamspeak, even if it is without a microphone, an absolute requirement.
Having you disconnected from the rest of the company because you won't use Teamspeak quite simply would not be fair to you, but we are happy to have your friendship.
Out of curiosity if you don't mind me asking, what is your aversion to Teamspeak?

Next Meeting Time
Wednesday 7pm PST.
(Just so you are all aware my job schedule changed again. Monday and Tuesday are no longer good days for me. Wed, Thurs, Fri. are my free days now.)
Artwork Request
I have a few artwork requests for the website. If you're an artist your help would be appreciated. Doesn't matter what style too much as long as it isn't finger painting or stick figures.
Things to Remember:
- The new clan colors are white, silver, gold and green like the four guilds.
- The Patherfinder version of a silver dragon is our new symbol. This is the best image I could find of what I think is a PF silver dragon. It is from the cover of a PF book entitled "Dragons Revisited." If someone can find a better image/preferably with the side view of a silver dragon that would be appreciated.
- We are a good aligned guild. While a war-torn banner isn't out of character for us; skulls/bones, evil looking faces, or sharp cruel looking armor/tatoos do not symbolize us well.
- We haven't settled on a theme/don't know what themes will be available yet for our uniformed military so characters depicted now would be less uniformed military and more militia/freelancers. For our actual uniforms I'm thinking less legionary and more hoplite but I am sure we will have a discussion and vote on this subject as it becomes more of a pressing concern.
Requests:
Banner- We need a banner for gl-gamers.net to replace the default one with the road and trees. It should say Great Legionnaires and feature at least some of our clan colors. A silver dragon is not necessary but if you can fit one in tastefully without making the banner look gaudy or tacky that is great.
Symbol- This is for shields, flags/banners, capes, etc. this should be a square or circular image featuring some of the clan colors and a silver dragon. Remember, silver dragons are silver so that covers one of our colors right there.
Artwork for Guild Pages- I want eight images, two for each of the four guilds for use on the website.
The first images should be fairly simple images featuring a silver sword, a white staff, a green cloak, and a golden set of scales. These are the icons representing the four guilds, so fitting them into a square with a solid colored background and a frame would look nice.
The second four images are for the pages representing the guilds. It's meant to give some flavor to the pages. I want four scenes depicting a person with the item that represents their guild. The people imaged should be iconic to the function of the guild, and can be of any gender/core Pathfinder race (human, dwarf, elf, halfling, gnome, half-elf and half-orc.) If this image were divided into squares it should be roughly 2 squares across and 3 squares top to bottom.
You can do whatever you feel would look good but here is what I had pictured in my head:
Silver Blades: Silverblades embody combat, courage, and martial skill. I picture them represented by a warrior in silver decorated with the colors of the other guilds, holding aloft a large sword (perhaps a longsword or greatsword) with a gleaming silver blade.
White Staffs: Whitestaffs embody diplomacy, compassion, and kindness. I envision an elderly oracle robed in white, or perhaps a monk. In one hand they hold a white staff of quarterstaff. The other is outstretched as if they are offering help to the viewer or perhaps there is another arm reaching up toward it from outside the frame.
Green Cloaks: Greencloaks embody exploration, stealth, and survival. I imagine the figure of a hunter wearing an green cloak that is open in the front, kneeling down to examine some paw-prints in the dirt.
Golden Scales: Goldenscales embody business, trade, and wealth. I imagine a figure carefully weighing some gold or gems on a set of golden scales.
Future Requests:
Signatures- At some point I want to design a basic format for GL forum signatures that displays name, rank, guild(s), and awards. We may want to wait until we have an official symbol and guild symbols to do this.
Characters/Avatars- If you REALLY are in to drawing characters it would be cool if we had someone to sketch out characters and avatars for us based on the descriptions we provide. This would be way above and beyond. But if you're capable and interested it would be awesome.

Teamspeak requires no personal information, and its a widely used and reliable program. In fact from my experience its the most commonly used program for major alliance voice chat servers while ventrilo is more common for small single clan servers. It's not some little known software with a few trojans tacked on, and it's not very bandwith intensive and it has a small file size. If you can run the game you can probably run it alongside the game without too much a loss in speed.
I would consider giving it a try. The worst that can happen is you won't like it.

![]() |
like i said its not necessarily a rational thing the personal information that would be given would be my voice more than anything
my affair with dial up ended 2 years ago which was far too long for me (being a tech head) they just didn't offer anything where i lived.
I'm just weird like that i cant argue your points though i could point out several widely used reliable programs that have Trojans (or at least malware) tacked on Aim or Yahoo messengers for example (not sure if they still are yahoo used to be horrible and aim got that way) wild tangent.. the list does tend to go on... its my pride that in windows i haven't had a computer crash in the last 4 years (aside from gross hardware failures easily corrected) is that because i haven't installed teamspeak.. no but it is in part because of my paranoia...... i'm rambling time to put up the keyboard for now

Next Meeting Time
Wednesday 7pm PST.
(Just so you are all aware my job schedule changed again. Monday and Tuesday are no longer good days for me. Wed, Thurs, Fri. are my free days now.)
Thats good for me. Should have no troubles in being there. As for the other stuff. I am more of a math/science guy than a creative/artist kind. So i won't be able to help with that. But, if we ever need an engineer let me know lol. Especially if it has to do with mining.

Oh, I've done that before. This week I'm actually busy every night, so I couldn't make it regardless of when the meeting is. But, I hope to join you guys as soon as possible!
Cool. No worries about not making it this week. I am sure there will be notes on it afterwards. Atleast we got a weekly time so i can plan accordingly from now on.
