James! Mike! Be more careful what you say! I don't want to see anyone get disqualified, alright? Shut up and eat your soup!

Pea soup with smoked ham hocks, scallions, and shredded cheddar was my lunch.

Pea soup? Blech! Chicken noodle, man. Or maybe ramen.

I second that! I think Andrew, Chad and I used up the only warnings on that front.

Trust me, a disqualification warning from Neil does NOT help calm your nerves.

I am now officially hungry. I need to wander around anyway, so food is on the agenda.

Uh... Bean & Bacon Soup is nothing new. My dad was eating it 20 years ago. Who knows how long it was around before that.

But congratulations on the discovery anyway! :D

How do you guys imagine the guildhall to look?

I imagine it as sort of a Nordish feast hall with cold flagstone floors (thus the blankets and soup. Chad looked cold.)

I'm sure that there's a nice fireplace surrounded by a semicircle of comfy, worn couches, with a large table in the middle about two feet tall (to play games on, duh). Hot cocoa is on tap, and there's a hole-in-the-wall bar with karaoke in the annex (drinks are free, but don't forget to tip the bartender!).

I entirely pictured the Nordic longhouse as well for some reason. Bit of a vaulted ceiling too, thatched roof. Maybe some incongrous stained-glass windows, though I'll be damned if I can fix my mind's eye on them and tell you what they look like.

Standing room, a bar, maybe some couches in front of a roaring hearth. Throw some bearskins on those couches for the viking appeal.

...I'd kind of like to lie down on those couches I'm picturing right now. They look comfy.

Like 32 identical, unfurnished rooms with soft rubber foam padding on the walls and floor, and no inside doorhandle.

I'm still trying to decide which of the judges is really Nurse Ratchet. Probably Neil. Seems real nice at first, but once you try to stir things up a bit, out comes that lobotomy needle.

The Guildhall is on a demiplane where time passes very slowly and everyone has taken a vow to say nothing about the great things they have done since they ascended. Unfortunately for the Brothers of Keeping Mum, the demiplane's size decreases every few weeks, and many Brothers are shunted out back to the material plane. Those who get to stay in the hallowed halls, however, grow in power. In the end, only the most powerful Brother remains.

Apologies for the delay in reviewing Round 1 entries. I'm feeling somewhat under the weather this year. I'll try to get around them all, but I don't know with the kaleidoscoped schedule there seems to be this year if I'll get through subsequent rounds... :-?

Hey Charles, no worries. You take care of yourself! I'm sure our lovely Succubus companion is off visiting relatives in the Abyss, or something.

That being said, I've been anxiously awaiting her review more than any other. She sure knows how to torment a guy!

..does anyone know what happens in the case of a tie, if such a tie determines who stays and who goes? Do they both advance? Do the judges decide? I know it's kind of a low chance of occurrence, but I'm curious.

IIRC, one year we had a tie for the last advancement spot. We promoted both of them to the next round, so there were 17 instead of 16 (or 9 instead of 8, I can't remember what year or what round).

It only would matter if that last position ties, though... if 15 tie in R2, those 15 plus whoever got the next rank goes on to be the Top 16 in R3.

Yeah. It's happened. Two competitors tied for the 16th spot when determining the Top 16. So, Paizo advanced both...ergo, it became a Top 17. The next round's elimination then cut 9 instead of just 8 to determine the Top 8. And the contest continued on from there.

The guildhall now has a thick layer of dust. The fireplace is cold and un-flamey. There's a skeleton where the barkeep used to be.

I think we're all terrified of posting. : )

I'm finally taking some breaks this weekend from preparing for a hopeful Round 3. I think letting myself recharge a bit is definitely a good move.

However, I'm either going to be super amped up or super depressed come the end of the night. Hmmm ... if the Pats don't win, I'm thinking I might have to make some type of giant-killing monster (once I'm done crying). Umenioricide? Anyone else have a rooting interest in the Super Bowl?

Liberty's Edge Contributor, RPG Superstar 2012 , Star Voter Season 6, Marathon Voter Season 7, Star Voter Season 9

Sorry, Jacob, I'm rooting for "anyone but the Patriots." At the very least, I'm hoping for a good crop of commercials.

Voting is over tomorrow, then we find out where we stand 24 hours later. Good luck everyone!

I was going to see some of the Superbowl with friends, but I've been confined to bed due to a bad back for the last couple of days and have to cancel.

Btw, motteditor, my Fellnight Queen guys have just made it up the ravine at Dead Man's Drop. Want to see who first succeeds in throwing someone over the edge?

No need to be terrified! Some of us just needed to ease up on the reins a bit. :p

I agree on the recharging. You can't have a fresh perspective on things if you don't pull your head out of it for a while.

No rooting interest, but my non-roleplaying friends and I thought it would be a good excuse to drink booze and eat chicken.

I'm definitely rooting for anyone but the Patriots. Brady insulted my hometown again.

I'm still here too. Beavering away on round three and keeping a wary eye on the exit polls. I've been too scared to make any comment, along with everyone else.

I would watch the Superbowl but it doesn't finish until three in the morning here. I don't think I've watched it to the end since the Cowboys' heyday in the 1990s. My "recharging" this weekend has involved England vs Pakistan at Cricket and England against Scotland in the Rugby.

I'm guessing I might have trouble getting the barkeep to put the cricket on, here in the guildhall. Six hours a day for five days (with breaks for luncheon and tea) and it might end up as a draw anyway. Anyone fancy it?

Dan and Mike, I'm now creating half a dozen alternate profiles and voting for everyone but you guys*. You are on my list!

Jacob T., I hate killing players (and animal companions), but I'm kind of worried about this scenario. I wasn't really expecting them to all dive in to the waterfalls without any preparation (and honestly, DC20 swim checks seem fairly tame for that situation) -- perhaps I should have further emphasized the roaring falls? Spicer and the dice algorithm better not cost me votes. : )

* No, not really.

Yeah, Im definitly going to play the strong current up in case anyone feel like a swim. Of course, my group has an oracle of waves who can see through mist and walk on water. By the way, Check out the Map i made of the pool.

Round 1 reviews complete. My flunkey may add a few words...

Round 2 Ask A RPGSupersuccubus reviews, if forthcoming, will not commence until voting has closed. At this point there's no way I can get through 32 reviews before Round 2 closes and (in case it impacted the voting at all) I'd rather not review any entries unless I could get around all of them under the same voting or lack thereof) conditions...
As a note, I'm unclear how far contestants have been following what they feel Paizo item descriptions to have established as a standard, but I found some of the items a bit thin on the ground in detail of what they actually looked/felt/tasted like. Obviously all items that made the top however many it was with withdrawals (arrrrgh!!! so frustrating seeing extra items to review being added!!!) have been considered superstar by Clark et al though.
Congratulations to everyone who made it into the top cut in Round 1.

<Beats flunkey for good measure then heads for bed...>

Darn it - just found the exact monster I was thinking of for my main idea in Bestiary 3. It is of course even more awesome than I would have been able to make it. Will have to use it in a future game.
