So, who are we all on here?

Off-Topic Discussions

Was just thinking about all the different kinds of people and personalities on here and then I was thinking how different I probably am from most of the people on here and then I was thinking well actually I have no idea how most of the people on here are, maybe there is no particular kind of people on here, or maybe there is but so that's what I'd like to find out. So if this sound interesting to you, just copy this post, add to it, and repost. I'll go first.

Shadow Lodge

I'm Spartacus. :D

I mostly go by Trinam, largely because it's a web handle that just... stuck.

I work in a call center as a supervisor (Don't escalate--you might get me) and spend the rest of my day being the geekiest person alive. I have a wife, and no plans to ever have kids.

Also I love arguing. Often in all caps.

The Exchange

This is my real name. I use it here because most people would not think that I might use my real name.

I'm unemployed, never have been, and it's looking like I might never be. Just got out of high-school last semester.

Freelance Electrician, when I happen to get a job, but I don't have a license yet. I mostly do really simple stuff, like hanging fans and the like.

I only got into gaming but about two years ago, and I've been a fan ever since. Started with 3.0/5, moved on to PFRPG late last year. My mom, however, is not a fan.

Edit:Gah. Triple-Cailean.

We are the three musketeers. Seriously, one of our names even sounds kinda french.

I love doing that, actually. We need Darkholme in here, too.

Edit: My name is totally french. I'm French Canadian.

Incoming wall of text!

My name is Brandon. I just turned 30 a little while ago. I live in Madison, Wisconsin and it's pretty awesome. I live with my girlfriend, Jen. She and I have been dating for 7 1/2 years now, and she just graduated with a MS in Microbiology and is, dishearteningly, working at Goodwill for <$9/hr. There's a lot of work in her field in this area, Madison is a booming biotechnology hub, but with recent events that happened with our governor and his attacks on public sector unions a lot of people who worked for DNR, DATCP, etc. in these fields are retiring early to lock in their pensions and taking the jobs that are available.

I work at CapTel and we caption phone calls for the deaf and hard of hearing. I previously worked at Wisconsin Relay before the parent company lost the relay contract to Sprint and some 200 people were laid off with less than 2 weeks notice around Xmas 2009. I had been there 2 years and was very comfortable. The upheaval made me reevaluate my situation and I decided to go back to school.

I have an AA in Music and Recording Technology but that failed to get me a career. I have a lot of music and recording equipment around, mostly electronic, and occasionally get it in me to produce something. A Google search of my moniker will find some sample tracks I'm sure. I returned to academia last spring and I plan on getting a Bachelors at University of Wisconsin-Madison. Not sure what yet. I'm thinking of majoring in history and minoring in economics, getting a TESL certificate and teaching English as a second language overseas for a couple years, then returning to get K-12 certification and being a high school Econ teacher.

I've been playing role-playing games of some sort or another since I was 11. The first game I played was the Paladium TMNT & Other Strangeness RPG, which I still think has the best character creation system (Bio-E) I've seen. I've been playing with my current Thursday night group since early 2004. My friend Mike has DMed this whole time, from Dark Sun to Earthdawn to Dragonlance to D6 Star Wars to Freeport and finally back to Dark Sun, and I'm taking over to give him a break next fall. I'm going to run Pathfinder Ravenloft. I'm excited.

My favorite food is chicken tikka masala. My favorite movies are Bad Taste and Trainspotting, but I'm quite into film and the list of DVDs I have and/or movies I could recommend is rather long. Same with music, I'd need a different entry for that.

I do not stick it to men. I am happily married.

Seriously trippy Musketeer dudes. And you all posted within TWELVE minutes of each other....ah...yeah. But AWESOME it is!

See, knew I forgot some important stuff:

Also been playing RPG's in one form or another since I was 10 or 11 (but that just happens to be about 10 years longer than you Branden)

Also am Canadian but just got back from living in Mexico for the past five years. In paradise of the Riveria Maya. Lived there 8 of the last 12 years. Also LOVE to Travel.

Singe at the moment, no kids, but I do love 'em. When the Right lady comes along I'll probably get busy making at least a couple of 'em.

All the best with finding the work you want to do Edgar. But sometimes you have to make your own luck. If you can't find someone to pay you for what you want do, then just start doing what you want to do, and get people to come pay you for it.

No, not like All of them. Just, you know, just Tha Man, the one who's been sticking it to most of us all these years. (plus I'm pretty sure it can be done in a way that won't violate your marriage vows)

Shadow Lodge

Oh, that's fine then. As long as it doesn't put me in jail either.

The Exchange

Right now, I'm just trying to find any sort of job. The only place I can get my Electrical license is about 20 miles away, and I have no form of transportation. I need to get a job long enough to pay for something to ride/drive to the facility, to the on-the-job training site, and back home.

Something I just thought of: My longest, nerdiest day ever was a few years back. I spent a few days loading up my DVR with the Star Wars Movies, IV-VI and I-III, and the three LOTR movies. I then proceeded to watch them all in one sitting. 21 hours later, I got up to go to the bathroom, and the television was taken. I was about to start on the Star Trek movies.

Anyway, my name is Gark and I hate Facebook and everything it stands for.

Also, my thoughts are really disjointed and s~$*.

And I swear a fair bit, but there's a nice filter on most sites to keep me safe. Right? Right?

Someday I'm going to create a username that will unite all of my various online identities. You guys, it will be SO COOL. I will link everything back to one single page. ALL of the weird stuff I do will be in public for all to see.

Edit2: Dammit, that sounds way to sarcastic. I actually meant it when I started writing it!

Alexander Kilcoyne:

Real Name: (Alexander Kilcoyne)

What You Do:

-Work for my rent and living costs and a little money on top for my girlfriend's father in Ukraine- mostly editing and content-producing work and a little translation for what I can best describe as a 'self-help introspective psychology board game'.

-Spend all my time not on the Internet watching episodes of various series and with said girlfriend. I moved to Ukraine fairly recently and don't really have a social life here yet. I also spend a lot of time improving my russian. I don't have a visa to be here so every 3 months I need to sod off across a border to another country (i'm in Odessa so close to Moldova and Romania) and hop back the same day to renew my 3 month stay.

- Panic about my own mortality (I managed to develop thanataphobia a few years ago which can often dominate my life...)

- Run far too many PbP's here.

At 22 i'm one of the younger regular posters here, a fact which bothers me not at all. I've been role-playing for about 10 years now, started with a bit of 2nd Ed then moved promptly on to 3rd. I'm currently dieting and missing the crap out of tasty food, particularily thai and chinese and sushi! Dammit now I have cravings...

Me:

Spoiler:

-Real Name: Scott
-Occupation: Mechanical Engineer
-Married
-One kid
-Got the nickname Aberzombie a long time ago, from my original gaming group in highschool
-Getting perilously close to 40
-Extremely proud of this country and happy that I was lucky enough to be born here
-love beer, and I even homebrew
-love to read
-been collecting comics longer than some people who post here have been alive
-think chick flicks suck and are one of the banes of our society, along with men who cry for any other reason than the death of a beloved pet or the spillage of much beer
-once hunted small furry animals and would like to do so again
-love to read

I do not like giving personal information about myself over the internet only because I'm just not comfortable with doing so. Things I will say about myself are as follows:

I'm a therapist.
I was born on the 31 of March which is why my username has 031 in it (clever isn't it?)
I'm over 30
I've been playing RPGs for awhile now, since I was 16 I think
I've played a variety of games but mostly DnD/PF
I like the original Star Wars trilogy
I hate Jar Jar Binks
I've played a variety of other games to include CCGs and Table top miniature games (currently I am only invested into Warhammer 40k)
Like many gamers, I had plans to self publish or design my own system. I have since given up that plan :(
I'm in the Army National Guard

That's about it.

JMD031 wrote:

Don't give up on the dream, man! :P

In just a few years time, with hard work and a lot of luck, you could be making GAME DESIGNER money!

Real name: Rone Barton... that fact and what I do, especially as it relates to the RPG biz is in my Paizo profile.

Like Khaladon, most things center around love and loving for me. Before you think me a sissy, it's far more violent and duct tapey than it sounds.

Unlike JMD031, I don't have a sensible governor when it comes to holding back personal information online, but I tend to let it spill over on one of my podcasts. Personal secrets never did me much good, and thieves have yet to nick my identity (though I'm certainly hoping they will - there's got to be a decent dark comedy in stealing the wrong guy's identity in there somewhere, where it winds up generating pity from and tragedy for the criminals).

Almost like Mr. Kilcoyne, I've got existential angst about my existence, but that's more an issue with philosophic focus... I switched over from living in the past to living in the future. One of these days, I'm going to find the now and stay there... um... wait.

And like Meatrace, I also live with his girlfriend, Jen. Ah but I jest! Actually I too am an audio engineer despite never planning to be one. It happened through osmosis, having been made to wait frustratingly long for others to do my recordings for me.

To those posters sharing here who I failed to mention being like, please do not take that to mean that I don’t like you personally. I merely hate everything you stand for.

Edit: Wait... Edgar's moviethon... crushing envy. Always wanted to do that.

(I actually own a pet sitting service, so even joking about not liking American - or any other nationality's - puppies feels so very wrong)

Indeed.

I have an American puppy.

(I promise I'll get around to an actual contribution to this thread. Eventually.)

Cute Puppy. I have a Husky/Akita mix, and no camera.

That pooch is definitely Estonian... a sleeper agent I suspect. Have you found muddy paw prints on any of your more sensitive documents?

As soon as I find some sensitive documents I'll check.

My brother has one, very stocky and looks like a little bear cub sometimes. :)

I think they are one of the best dogs for allergies too. No luck with my wife yet on that front though...

Ya, I've heard that wives can be bad for allergies, that's why I don't have one yet. I may get a dog though. Nothing like the feeling when you're merely coming home is the best part of someone, or something's, day.

Jade= A+

And thanks for all the great posts everyone! This is almost barely as good as I was hoping it would be!

EDIT: And hey Jade:
, I've had a great idea for a new, unique Paizo product (entire line actually) rolling around in my head for a while now, and, (perhaps I'm being wimpy here not to do it on my on, but I prefer to call it Bulazisyness) you may just be the person to collaborate on it with me. If at all intrigued, lemme know and I'll get in touch with you on FB.

Khaladon...

Spoiler:
Please do feel free to run your product/line idea past me on FB. I have resources you might be able to use.

Khaladon, you got me pretty curious about this project of yours. But more curious about living in Mexico. As an aussie it takes a whole lot of travelling to reach anything remotely exciting, so colour me intruiged.

I suppose its time I actually contributed. I'm 18. A student. A lazy one. A rare breed, so I'm told. I'm interested in history, so felt like I'd be cheating myself if I didnt study it for now. It's been pretty fantastic this year, so I'm hoping to see my degree through, but I'll take the first real job I can find. Work's work.

I took a trip to Europe and buggered up my marks this semester. Was probably worth it, but I wish I'd had the foresight to defer. I finished last thursday and I'm still writing essays from two weeks ago. I've now got the time to GM some games and rope a few friends into the hobby. I was dissapointed by the lack of a gaming scene at uni, but I've found a few willing converts. There are Pathfinder Society games running in town, but I've yet to get in on them. I'm a spotlight hog, so stage-fright is entirely new to me. It's much easier to embarass myself among friends, I suppose.

I spend a whole lotta time here, and the rest trying to fill in the crippling gaps in my knowledge (mostly music and movies) from a childhood plugged into Goldeneye 64 and Super Mario World. I like to game with characters with some kind of accent or other verbal tic, and try hard to not make them charicatures. Unfortunately, this is Australia, and the rest of the world is a long way away. Also I like bards. That's my life. Or what passes as one. I'd join in on the dog exchange, but a few months ago I found myself short one dog and even shorter on photos, but I'll let myself out before I bum everybody out.
