I would like to offer Grif Hallisp to join your quest.
The type of role he would take on in the kingdom would probably warden or General. He would take on a role he could use his abilities to protect the kingdom. All his stuff is in his alias, let me know what you think and if you have any questions about Grif.

Updated Adinas with a background story. Also, Adinas intends to eventually take levels in Wizard and pursue Arcane Trickster, but he will definitely be gimped as an arcanist and will be mostly a skillmonkey.

You forgot me in your rundown of characters. :)

Almathea wrote:

I think it was a rundown of applicants - aren't you one of the three pre-determined players?

Yep, but he had another of the pre-determined characters on his list too, so I wasn't sure if he was just doing applicants or not.

Ah, I see. That would leave me confused too.

If I need to change my character to a human I will. He will be of the same line (noble) and same basic skill set.

*snorts* "Yeah, good luck with that."

Surtova is where it's at, folks. House Rogarvia got what it deserved; never forget that.

(I have no idea what I'm talking about.) :)

I have changed the alignment of my character. I'm not sure I can play it as lawful, and so have done a complete switch to chaotic. I am torn, because obeying the family screams lawful neutral to me, but his internal nature wants to be chaotic good. So I have switched it to Chaotic Neutral for the moment. How he ends up in the alignment spectrum would depend on the influences of the other characters.

This rest of this is meant in jest/fun. Please don't take it seriously. ;)

Taking out the competition:
"Ours is the right, you say. So it is." Not liking Gurthock's attitude toward his family motto, Flynn follows Gurthock until he can get him alone.
Stealth:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Flynn then descends upon him with his dagger.
Dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (1) = 8
Dagger: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 3 + (1) = 7

Flynn makes sure to feed the body to a group of pigs in a pen nearby, knowing that the pigs will eat the body and leave no evidence behind. Flynn then continues on like nothing happened. "That's one less dissenter in our midst. Ours is the right."

Ooh, my bad. I had indeed skipped your character since you were pre-approved, I just failed my reading comprehension check and didn't realize that Viktor Medyed was also pre-approved!

And, like a ninny, I didn't bother to save a copy of the pre-formatted list, so I can't re list it with our new applicant, Grif Hallisp, Half-Elven Barbarian (invulnerable rager) without retyping and re-linking the entire thing. Gah!

Here is the more or less final character, I think I managed to get everything basically straight.

Only a few hours to the deadline and some really solid choices. I am having trouble narrowing down my selections. I'm almost of a mind to start a second group, though I would have to eliminate the kingdom building part of that to avoid too much headache keeping things straight on my end.

I think I'll extend the deadline to noon tomorrow, EST, and give some of you the chance to post whether or not you'd be interested in the second PbP option, without the kingdom building. The kingdom would grow in the background, as discussed within the AP, with the players becoming the chartered agents of the King, or Queen.

Great concepts guys.

I primarily want to build the kingdom, and as such would prefer to not have it dropped in favour of another group. Having said that, if necessary I can pass on this as well. Not what I want, but if it makes your job better for the others, then that's good enough for me.

Not sure where I sit on the chosen/not chosen scale, but I would prefer to be able to do the Kingdom building. My apologies to myself or others that may not get to play because that would limit DM Kalizar to one group. But the Kingdom building portion of the AP is one of the main things that has drawn me to it over the other AP's.

The Kingdom building stuff is what I like the most so if that goes I can wait for another game. No hard feelings or anything we just seem to be short on DMs around here and we dont need to overwork the ones we have. ^.^

Just an idea, but what if we ran both groups under the same flag. There would only be one kingdom. There are 11 different jobs and I assume a few of the peps may not even want one of them.

One thread for group one

One thread for what happens inside the keep or main capital building

One thread for group two

I have not looked at the AP other than the player guide, but I think it may be fun.

I am running my own home-brew kingdom builder, so I know how much stuff you need to keep organized.

I would be cool going without a kingdom.

I agree. If you want to run a second group I'd suggest doing with a separate AP and just have the characters convert over to that one. Wouldn't be too hard honestly.

I would like to do the kingdom building but understand if you were unable to do it with the group. My hat is still in the ring.

I added a new concept as I didnt see anyone that would have any real tracking abilities. He is a Beastmaster Archetype Ranger named Xanthan Lebeda. I have modeled the character a little bit off of Jon Snow from Game of Thrones. He is a bastard child of the noble house of Lebeda, seeking to make a name for himself in a new land. He is also looking to help build a place where the merits of your self are looked upon higher than the accidents of your birth. His father paid him off to leave the family so that he no longer dishonored their name, his father secretly hoping he would get himself killed in the Stolen Lands. He has always had a close affinity with animals and is eager to view the wild of the area.

I would like to be part of the kingdom building as well but I will take what I can get lol. I believe this character would make a very good general or warden.

I hope you guys like it and I am looking forward to gaming with you guys if I get the chance.

Here's another vote for PC kingdom-building. As was stated earlier, it's the main appeal of Kingmaker over the other APs. And I would dearly love to see how poor insecure Adreccam Surtova would take on the mantle of leadership.

I'm also in it for the kingdom-building. Radu's all about the establishing of his Kalistocracy-friendly merchant-empire!

"I'm Rostland born and bred, so I know better than to trust anyone with the last name Surtova, no matter how 'good' they say they are. I got an eye on Addrecam and Kieran. You guys look shifty..."

"Then again, 'the devil you know,' and all that. There's a lot of foreigners here, with ways different than our own. Perhaps they'll do some more folk dancing?"

Shao the Horseman reporting for duty. He is my character for pathfinder society I have been dying to play, but unable to fit society into my schedule. If you would rather I can change him to be a cavalier rather than a samurai. I currently run a play by post game and frequently post on a daily or sometimes multiple times a day. I will write you up a background should you like the flavor of the character.

Should I not be chosen I am currently DMing another PbP and would DM for kingmaker should there be enough interest. Although I would prefer to play :)

Getting interest for kingmaker is not really an issue around here. ^.^

Seriously, we could probably pull three full parties or more from this one thread.

Indeed!

I just really want to play a pally Aldori swordsman

If it increases my chances of playing(playing in 1 other game right now and DMing another one) I wouldn't mind being in a second group though like everyone else I would prefer to play with the kingdom building aspect in tact that way I can set up a theif's guild in town *evil grin*...nope not going to try to take over the kingdom...don't know what you guys are thinking...not at all.

Well, the time's up. Recruitment is now closed. I will finish making my reviews tonight, and post the selections tomorrow mid-morning, with the game and discussion threads to follow. Hopefully we will get some of these unique characters together and start taming the Stolen Lands.

One thing I want to say, though I'm not be able to select some of you, understand I wish I could. Alot of these character submissions have promise, but there are just so many more players than spots. Keep trying, and hopefully soon you'll find own your niche, and your chance to make a mark upon the Stolen Lands.

if we don't get selected will you be willing to give feedback? I know this is a lot of extra work for you and will understand if you don't want to do this but if not selected I would like to know how I can improve.

I request the same.

Thirded adn thank you for consideration.

Good luck everybody!

Yes, good luck to all! It's been a fun thread to read. Some very creative folks here!

Perhaps the B team can find another DM?

Well all,

First off, let me say thanks for all the interest in this game, and your great responses. It was tough narrowing it down; there were enough candidates to fill 4 solid parties, I think. Unfortunately I cannot run four groups through Kingmaker. As is, I think I'm gonna need my head examined, as I'm gonna push myself and attempt to run three groups of five players each through the AP.

Decisions were based on group dynamics, player roles in the party, and how well the players might mesh together or into the storyline.

Group 1 will be the Kingmakers Group. It will consist of:
aptnuviel's Viktor Medvyed - Bard preapproved
joy's Almathea - Witch preapproved
colin's Unnamed Character - Ranger preapproved
shieldknight's Flynn Steelheart - Rogue
eryndur's Adreccam Surtova - Fighter

Group 2 will be the Greenbelt Heroes Group. It will consist of:
mamadragon's Elisabo - Sorcerer preapproved
imimrtl's Xanthan Lebeda - Ranger
gmpathfinder's Simondale Albus - Cleric
anatidae's Keiran Surtova - Cavalier
james wylie's Adinus Hawkeye - Rogue

Group 3 will be the Law & Order Kingmaker Group. It will consist of:
omnichaos' Arunil Amaim - Air Elementalist
set's Radu Stanislav - Cleric
daway's Ozaziel - Paladin
patcher's Unnamed Character - Cavalier
mathpro18's Tomnus - Rogue

I will write up and post the introductions for each game thread along with the discussion groups later today or this evening. This should definately fill up my free time for the foreseeable future.

Doug aka
DM Kalizar

I have no words. Well, I do - I can't help but admire your resolve to run 3 Kingmaker groups. Though what will happen with the Kingdom building?

I'll also find a name and get a profile for the Cavalier.

Wow running three Kingmakers, good luck.

On a side note my guy is LN, should not assume he follows laws just because they are laws. It is the river kingdoms after all and only the six freedoms are absolute. That being said cant wait to start. ^.^

Sorry, yes I am certifiable, all three groups will be running the kingdom building side of the campaign. I am reviewing Jon Brazer's thrid party supplement for Kingmaker, and may incorporate some of it into the campaign.

However, kingdom building is for the next chapter of the AP, so I don't want any characters focusing on that during the early parts of the game. The groups are after all being sent out not to start a colony, but to pacify the region, map the lands for the good and safety of Brevoy, and rid the kingdom from the bandit threat jeopardizing trade with the River Kingdoms.

Good luck to everyone who was picked.

Alright. Then I can only admire your resolve even more. If I can offer any help in any shape or form to make it easier, feel free to ask.

Will get my character profile fixed shortly.

Gurthock Fleshmincer wrote:

Gurthock, I really wished I could fit you into the campaign. Your concept is interesting, and I think would do well in any game. For the number of groups I decided to run, I needed to scale down the sizes slightly, and that unfortunately left your summoner just off the edge.

I will say the only drawback I could see to your character, and it is in flavor only, might have been his darker egde, as the majority of characters offered up were good aligned, or expressed good tendencies. I know your character was neutral, but consorting with dark powers is one of the key aspects players fight in the AP, so it may have brought up one or two issues as the campaign progressed. Altering the background slightly, perhaps the land itself, sensing the coming upheaval, infused Gurthock's body and spirit in the cave, forever altering him and his destiny as a savior of the natural order.

I believe Erefine stated he might be up to running a Kingmaker game. I would heartily recommend he consider you for a seat at the table.

*jumps up and down wildly* I made it I made it...finally I get into a game with a lot of interest.

*regains composure* Sorry to those of you how didn't make it. There were some really great characters submitted and I'm sure had there been less interest in this you all would have probably made the cut.

@DK Kalizar: Thanks for picking me is there anything I need to change or fix?
