Yes. I actually felt palpable relief that my wife can now escape the country on a moment's notice.

But where will she go?

Places Americans can go without a visa

Canada will not allow even adult children of dying parents to enter.

In spite of initial screw-ups, we have not done too shabby with Covid. So keeping people who are in the U.S.A. (which has done a terrible job) so our numbers don't go horrid makes sense. It is sad for cases like that, but we Canadians in general (though not unanimously) feel that a few people not seeing their dying parent one last time trumps A LOT of people seeing their parents for one last time.
I'm thinking we can get into Canada under refugee status now. Canada officially declared us an unsafe country with human rights violations.

I...will have to look at that.

Plan "f#!& this shit I'm out" was only delayed, never quits.

Yeah, I knew it wasn't the clip she was talking about (I've seen Wag the Dog too). I just assumed it would be funny to post a clip to a completely different absurd "Albania, Albania" song.

Taking an extra day off next week, because I had dreamt that I was late for work because I overslept because I was so tired......

I have been really tired but *dreaming* about it is something else.

I don't dream anymore their was a point when I started doing meditation that I would have lucid dreams that would wake me up and now I just haven't at all in a long time.

I dream all the time. Lucky for me, I rarely have nightmares. Of course there was one where my City of Heroes character went up against Lolth and turned her into wood. Needless to say, Lolth was none too pleased and my character was running for her life. One of the scariest dream I have ever had. Note to self, NEVER piss Lolth off!

The best dream I had back when I dreamed: I dreamt I was Thor fighting the armies of Sarumon. Felt so realistic I could feel the hammer return to my hands. felt pretty epic.

I have recurring dreams about being kidnapped for various reasons (feds think I'm an alien when I'm clearly not, another where I'm pulled into a minivan by Japanese tourists, tied up and fed LSD, and then a third where I'm walking home from work and cops stop me and plant a shitload of drugs in my backpack).

But, hey, they're better than the recurring nightmares I have about the various friends or pets I've known that have died. Those suck. Thankfully they are few and far between.

And I am able to exert some influence over my dreams so it's not all bad.

The best part was in my Thor head I swear I thought how Thor must think. Like this is a lot of orcs and the big guy looks tough. This should be fun. like no thought of possibly losing at all.

I can't properly explain it but those nightmares sound like something you would have a nightmare about. It must be the hippie in you.

The unfortunate part of being in a large family living on a farm (or at least my family) is being the middle child I got to name all the animals that were slaughtered. So there's a lot of material for my subconscious to work with there.

You're semi-evil, but you're funny, and that's what really matters. Have a cookie.

I'm sitting on my front stoop in my running clothes watching YouTube videos because the humidity is down to 96% and it's still unpleasant. I don't wanna go.

But I'm also sick to death of being fat.

So I've been going out there for the past couple of weeks every morning it isn't actually raining, or Sundays.

I hate it. I will hate it less when the weather cools off. Maybe.

Ouch. fair. funny enough My SO is also the middle child and worked on a farm but she hasn't mentioned naming all the to be slaughtered animals at least. I need to ask her about that.

I get to use a prototype paver plunger today, I'm pretty excited about that.

Is it a purple prototype paver plunger?

Also, a question.

Given that trees don't grow in the Underdark, and hence wood will be a rare & precious resource, what do its denizens make spear/arrow shafts, etc., out of - dried fungus? Metal? Bone?

I've promised myself that if I can meet my weight goal before winter, I'm treating myself to a pair of Lorica leggings. (They're patterned to resemble historical suits of plate armor.)

Probably specially grown fungus?

Bows would be probably rare because their main advantage of superior range is not so useful underground. Crossbow bolts can be made wholy metal, I think, making them into sort of nail guns.

Wholy metal polearms would be heave, but, hey you can wield two-handed sword in a spear grip. Or try making all those metal shafts hollow.

More savage races would probably use bones, possibly in some sort of rigid composite with other materials.

Also, magically/alchemically grown crystals. They make fine crossbow bolts.

This is the answer in Dwarf Fortress at least. Large mushrooms called Tower-Caps grow in the deep chasms, and are considered "trees" by game mechanics and thus can be harvested for wood and used for all the things wood is.

Metal, stone, and crystal is probably more reasonable in the D&D setting though, if only because as Drejk noted, drow and duergar don't tend to use bows, they use crossbows, which can be made without wood or wood-like products.

Co-worker thought I'd be laying pavers the rest of the day.

It's 10 am and I'm already 90% done.

Now I just have to wait for more pavers.

I personally liked the paver plunger vacuum thingy, co-worker did to but he's a cheap bastard so he's going to tell the boss not to get it, whereas I'll probably tell him to go for it.

Oh, is it like a vacuum sealing end that allows you to pick up and put down pavers? That sounds amazing.

That'd use a lot of metal... Mind you, if you can magically reinforce things, that'll solve a good few of your materials problems, of course.

Yes. I'm well rested from Yesterday's ordeal.

Drow use those little hand crossbows. That would cut down on the materials. Not sure about the duergar - although the mini I have that has a cross bow also has a hand crossbow (or is that a derro mini I am thinking of?).

But yes spider chitin or some form of treated fungal material. Perhaps even treated hide might make a stiff enough material to serve as a stock.

I got my first mini this last week, a freebie with my order, Absalom City Guard it is.

I like it.

I saw those and figured they look modern enough that they could work for starfinder as well.

The default 3e statblock for a Duergar has a light crossbow, so I'd imagine that's probably pretty standard for them.

So while playing Robin hood simulator Lara Croft simulator* I reached the point in story where stupidity occurs, with the main character doing exactly the things they absolutely should not. And then it goes downhill. The game could be over by now, if instead of being suddenly stupid, the character kept the degree of competence show outside of (some) story missions (or even competence shown in some other story missions, when the character perfectly handless overwhelming enemy forces).

*:
as I mentioned before, I made female captain, and with the improved frame rate and game dynamics legendary bow is basically an ultimate killer one shotting anything I hit - the main reason why I keep using precision rifle as well, is its scope, which is better at very far distances than non-magnifing aims of the bow.

I didn't even think of that.

That will certainly come in handy if I ever make a Vanguard or anyone that uses a shield.

Now I want to make a Vanguard (law officer background) named Judge Dredd.

Damn, and here I was going to spend my evening watching Mac and Me on Mystery Science Theater 3000.
