If this happened on the street, I mean, just imagine the comedy.
Well, it's the internet, so with less of a sense of humor.

Saw Kamelot/Nightwish last night. Had no idea what to expect, having never been to a concert.
Did not expect waiting outside for nearly an hour to get in having bought tickets in advance.
Nor the old guy in the Superman-Jesus shirt and cape to lap the block about eight times before they let us in. Or for him to be there. This led to the introduction of a new unit of time, used thusly in a sentence: "Dang, that sucked, it took us twelve Superman-Jesuses to get inside." The same guy who coined this also started messing with passersby.

NICKI MINAJNor the lack of chairs. Ended up leaving early because neither Dad nor I could take standing much longer after both of us worked all day then got there. My legs are wimpy.
Nor all the jumping. I ended up standing next to a kid who jumped and flailed his arms constantly, only reminding me that I am eye-level to most people's elbows.
Very glad I was warned about earplugs. Had to put them in almost immediately. Still somehow got a headache.
I hope they put on a good show. I couldn't see it. I think most Nightwish fans apparently play basketball. The lights were good. >_>
I dunno. I'm glad I went, just to have a concert experience. I don't think I'll go again.
So sorry, that sounds a bit sucky. I would probably recommend going to smaller concerts, it does suck when there's hundreds of huge bloke between you and the stage. Usually I just slide/elbow my way to one side and find a smaller lady/gent to stand behind.
Sorry that it's soured you to live-events.

I was kinda already soured, to be honest. I'm claustrophobic and hate loud noises. But I figured I should give it a shot because I am willing to be proven wrong now and again.
I do have slight issue finding a smaller lady/gent to stand behind, though. At 4'11", I am the smaller lady/gent. =)

:(
So sorry, Scintillae (not about the height thing).
Yeah, for larger concerts. I would then either stand near the mosh-pit or get a larger boy/girl friend to hoist you on there shoulders :P
Although there are also some great concerts (at least over here) that have terrible attendance. Immortal or Sara Jezebel Diva barely got two dozen people. Whilst my festival last weekend got a couple of hundred people & was much fun.

It wasn't horrible. Just a realization that they're not my thing. I don't regret going. I just don't plan to go again. =)
yes, propablly not your thing, Scintillae,
because everything you described sounded totally right for me :-)
god, how many hours I have spend waiting in front of concert halls
and chairs are completly out of the question for me, well for rock music anyway, no problem sitting at classic or irish folk

Or, I should say, I don't have THAT kind of private collection. My actual private collection of flicks contains lots of scifi, action, horror, etc, that my wife doesn't care for.
Same here. I have a gigantic porn collection the wife occasionally thumbs through and enjoys some of the cheesier bits of, but she usually leaves my more mundane dvds alone. Also, speaking of av, I just saw Pirates - - it was GREAT! Cheesy special effects, bad acting(although the villains were convincing, and they spent the costume and makeup budget quite well), and some above average sex scenes. Would definitely buy, and I will check out the sequel.

when I was younger I never wore earplugs, I had one or two days of ringing sound in my ears back than.
now I get almost a week of ringing, so Earplugs are a must have for me

CONGRATULATIONS on getting out there! I'm sorry it wasn't for you but I know it must have been hard to face down two fears like that. I'm very proud/glad you went for it.
