I can't seem to escape large corporations. We just found out today that the company I started at in April is being bought by another, larger corporation. I'm trying to stay optimistic despite the last time I saw something like this, half the employees were gone after three months.

:(

Well, I guess that makes sense. I mean, then you can at least be sure that you're washing ALL of the dirty clothes...

By way of contrast, I'll throw out The Day the Earth Stood Still. That there was a terrible remake/re-imagining. Whoa!

Not even Jennifer Connolly (who I am deeply smitten with) could redeem that flick.

The only problem I have with JC's The Thing is deciding whether it's better or worse than Big Trouble in Little China.

I liked Big Trouble in Little China!

Grand Lodge

One of these days I'll actually sit down and watch that movie...

Liberty's Edge

ToTN was good today. RSC hilarity (sports). It redeemed a pretty lame day of radio. Um . . . link. I first saw the RSC in freshman Lit, then again last year.

Edit: My headphones are not working and I'm not that interested in figuring out what's the problem with the media player. The part I wanted to tell you about is near the end, though (the last six minutes, perhaps).

Silver Crusade

Ugh, I really want to not be sick anymore. Things are just so busy I can’t find the time to really rest and get well – just a persistent parade of migraines, cold, and flu over the past month or so.

Liberty's Edge

So you know how there's the alternate history-type threads, where something in the past is changed and that influences the future? What about if the past is changed, but the future remains the same? What if the future is changed, and that influences the past?

That sucks. I also hope for you to not be sick any more.

Mmmm, doritos.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

We ate at Altai's Mongolian Grill tonight. I was surprised to find out that's what he did after adventuring. You'd think a wizard could make better money.

He's a man of many talents it seems.

Even my wife likes that movie....she just doesn't want to watch it once a week like me.

Grand Lodge

...I can't think of any movies I enjoy that much. :(

The Exchange

Well maybe not every week; but she seems to think I want to watch it that much.

Liberty's Edge

I think The Empire Strikes Back is the only movie that I fairly regularly watch more than once in any 6 month period.

Am I the only one here who feels the need to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show about every 6 weeks or so?

Man. I was almost sacrificed to Moore et. al. by my friends for not liking that movie.
Hate on Watchmen?

Not hate so much as I didn't like it. I liked some of the costumes, certainly, and the prison scene with Rorshach was excellent, but I felt the actors overall brought very little to their roles.

What's the consensus on the new Conan movie trailer? You can actually understand the new guy. I'll probably see it.
Conan the Barbarian happens to be one of my favorite movies the one liners are incredible in that film. That aside I do plan on watching the film, I thought Jason did a great job as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones which seems to be a preamble for his role in Conan. We'll see but I am hopefully optomistic.

Also, watched T3 yesterday and picked up A Dance with Dragons. Also

I'm going to have to adjust my schedule some. This whole go-to-work-after-two-months-off thing messes with my need for sleep.

We'll call that "Getting Jacked." You might want to do a search for "Tordek Maneuver."

In the last week and a half Jude has figured out how to sit up, push himself off the ground into a crawling position and rock back and forth, pull himself up into a standing position from a sitting position. Also roll real fast and tried to roll off the end of the bed the other night.

I just bought my copy of Dance with Dragons can't wait to read it. Only I wanted to catch up and reread the other books first ....I only go to mid way through Clash of Kings. Not sure if I should break down and start aDwD or finish rereading the others first. decisions decisions.

Oh no, my scro friend- you MUST complete A Clash of Kings. Not only is it one of my favorites, but it is also chock-full of important information that you need for AFfC and ADwD!!! It's up to you which one of the latter two you read first, imo.
