My dog will snore loud as hell, and I can shove him repeatedly to try to wake him up, and he snores through it, dead asleep.

...but I get up to go pee and he jumps out of bed like lightning struck to follow me. WTF?!

Of COURSE that post is the top of the page.

Seems appropriate.

I failed order of operations.

Its the same reason I just cant re-read Song of Ice and Fire anymore. In book 1 I just start screaing to ned stark to not do it... but yeah...

I'm on book 4 now, I may or may not make it to the end.

Not gonna lie, if/when Martin ever finishes aSoIaF, I'm going to reread it straight thru like I'm doing with WoT. Or at least try to.

Also, Mrs Sunrise and I may or may not be starting the GoT show tonight!!! She has not read the books, and I can't wait to see her reaction.

I refuse to finish aSoIaF.

If Terry Pratchett could, while suffering from early onset alzheimer's, write two books a year of epic quality, that lazy ass Martin can finish one book in a f#$$ing decade, instead of trolling his fans on Twitter with "X more characters I'm spending writing something besides my finale". F~&@ing dick.

I know one person's lack of continuance means nothing to him, but it's the principal of the situation.

Isn't 24 h too long to cook a turkey?

YES. A lengthy, low-temp cooking process is precisely what a food dehydrator does... it's basically making jerky. And it makes me want to shank someone.

And she honestly believes it's the only way to get a tender, juicy turkey.

Cooking has never been her strong suit.

Turkey is a bit dry for my tastes, the last time I stir fried it with sweet peas and Sze chuan chilli peppers. Tasted like chicken.

I refuse to eat turkey.

On account of helping my dad with butchering as a youngling (one instance where being an early riser wasn't the best thing).

And we had a big ass flock every year, twenty at least.

We now run with the turkeys, wild turkeys that is, in the woods, fascinating birds!

My turkey isn't dry. Its not easy however to make turkey and it not be dry.

It's easy to dry it out, and that is not good turkey. Good turkey is very moist.

Yes, there is still a comparison to chicken, but turkey prepared well does have a different flavor.

One of my favorite "tutoring" sessions with Impus Major was when he was curious about order of operations: "Why do they work that way?"

"Oh, mathematicians just all decided to do it that way."
"What do you mean? Isn't there some deep underlying concept?"
"No; it's kind of like driving on the right side of the road in the U.S. No laws of physics force you to do it, but if you start doing it any differently you're going to wind up in a marvelous universe of trouble..."

Don't I know it, I had a friend that drove backwards around the square in Monroe and the cops were looking for his car all weekend.

He had to paint a different naked woman on his hood so they wouldn't know it was him.

Yes, that works.

No, a red Schwinn, with a basket.

She'll start walking as soon as it starts getting icy but she still walks the bike trail, on account of having miles and miles of bike trails.

We started the final race of the season for my Formula De league tonight. My driver that is tied for the lead in points started in 2nd place (the guy he is tied with won pole position, dammit), and my other driver started in 9th. When we stopped tonight, about halfway through, my driver that started in 2nd had fallen to 10th (aka last), but clawed his way back to 7th, while the one who started in 9th has made it all the way up to 4th. In order to have a chance of winning the championship, I need my driver (in 7th) to finish in at least 6th place. So it will be interesting to see how things pan out when we reconvene in two weeks to finish it.

It's a board game.

The good news is that the driver I am tied with for points finished the night in 10th place.

Huh interesting.

Aren't there issues involving reach you have to get around when dealing with longer range weapons like Tomahawks? I thought historically reach was quite a big thing, that's why people used polearms.

Tomahawks aren't that long - maybe 40-50cm? Not very much longer than a good-sized dagger, anyway...

Was there some kind of technical advantage to two daggers or were you simply better yourself?

There is a technical advantage - you seem to have a slight edge in terms of range and speed when using something light & thrusty vs. something heavier and cuttier. Also, my opponent kept tangling one dagger with his tomahawk and pulling me in, forgetting that I had a longish stabby boi in my other hand...
