I got some International Delights Reece's peanut butter cups creamer to try out.

Peet's French roast, if anyone was curious about what coffee I was drinking.

Edit: it would seem to be mostly chocolate, I'm not sure if there's any peanut butter flavoring in there at all. Will not purchase again.

*Gets dressed, because it's morning*

Might as well just use cocoa powder, then. Thanks for the warning.

It's my brother's wedding today.

I'm not part of the brother clic though so thankfully I haven't been invited to the reception afterwards, so I just gotta power through the ceremony and then the rest of the day is ours. :-)

Fortuitously only a few of the annoying relations made it, so it's mostly a good crowd.

Me: the veggie trays are left.

Kid doesn't know what he's missing. Veggies, cheese, bread, and some beer can make a fine meal.

My age then. My condolences on behalf of all 49 year olds everywhere.

I don't understand people who expect good food at a wedding. Anywhere more than twenty people are eating from a buffet line, it's gonna be iffy at best.

Munching on cooked veggies from a tray on top of drained Ramen, right now. Specifically, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Snap Peas, Celery, and Carrots. Onions and Garlic, not from the tray.

Different brother, and his wedding so much better, because of meticulous and incredibly anal planning.

According to him.

I'm sorry, Cap, I guess I didn't delete fast enough.

I can be pretty damned snarky and self-absorbed myself, but holy cow, if it's not your wedding and you're a guest, then... dude. It's not about you.

Yup.

Pretty much.

Of course it being my family, he wasn't the only one b*@#~ing.

NobodysHome's Wedding Story Time:
My friend's father is full-blooded Persian, having fled Iran when the Shah was overthrown in 1979. So he has, er, "strong" opinions about hospitality.

So much so that he was a guest at a friend's son's wedding, and they ran out of food! This was too much for his hot Persian blood, so he and three friends immediately stormed out of the wedding, made many desperate phone calls, and returned less than 2 hours later with a full roast goat, plus about two full tables of other food.

It was a running joke that there were over 60 pounds of leftovers when the wedding and reception finally ended.

But NOBODY runs out of food at a Persian wedding! Nobody!

Hah! Hope he likes it! (If you let him. If not, I hope you have a good day! (I don't know his relative age/maturity/etc.))

We watched the first disc of Fellowship last night as a family. (We only have the extended cuts.) Homunculus #2 is definitely a bit too young for it, Homunculus #1 did get into it but was not ready to sit thru disc 2 in the same night. Which I pretty much expected.

So woot for family nerd-bonding!

That's a lotta goat.

(I've found a butcher who sells goat in Bradford. At some point, I need to buy some and cook something with it. Curried goat is supposed to be a bit of a classic)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Alas, I was only the goat herder, I never got to actually eat one.

If anyone wants to learn about patience, I highly recommend trying to milk one.

If you do, make sure it isn't a billy goat, as my dad found out, they really don't like to be milked.

That's also how I found out what dog food is made of, as my parents ended up selling their first "milking goat" to Purina. :-)

Jamaican curried goat is one of the most amazing, underrated foods on the planet. Especially with cold beer.

Well, the one-day heat wave was easy enough to deal with, but in a very unusual turn, it didn't cool off all that much last night (lows in the 60s) and it's 102 again today, meaning that despite my best efforts, it's 86 in the house.

Not TOO terrible, but not exactly condusive to doing a lot of heavy-duty housework, either. Hopefully we'll get some fog tonight...

(Oh, and the air quality was so bad yesterday that it actually set off the fire alarms in the rooms with open windows -- we couldn't even see Albany Hill, just over a mile away, because the air was so smoky.)

Tie my shoe with one hand while walking two beagles.

Edit: would that be about 16 dexterity...

Young justice is superior in every sense.

While I'll admit there are better shows, (mlp, avatar TLA, and gravity falls all jump to mind first) I'll still adamantly say that the brainless piece of cartoon that is TTG in no way stands up to the sometimes brilliant writing of the original TT. Young Justice is certainly a more interesting story, but the characters and their interactions is where Teen Titans shine. That aspect was removed from Teen Titans GO, giving way to potty humor for the sake of an easy joke, or strange humor merely to be as absurd as possible.

In the immortal words of Apple Jack "A whoopie cushion? That's like a joke shortcut."
Edit: this isn't meant in a confrontational manner, just conversational.

brilliant writing?

It's a direct lift from the comic.

The best, award winning storyline from the comic got kiddified and turned into a cartoon.

Nothing original about it. Some interesting editing, perhaps.

Not to sidetrack the conversation, but it's been over a week and they still haven't gotten a new toner cartridge for the front desk printer. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. After all, it sometimes takes us two days to get printer paper.

Got one for you Gran.
Had a guy walk in I ask him
Me: Would you like a single king bed or two queen beds?
Him: It doesn't matter whatever is cheaper.
Me: one king bed it is.
Him: Oh but I need two beds.
Me:.... -_-

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yep. This way he can ask you to sell him the room with two beds at the same price as the room with one.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I did not.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

It's kind of like the people who rent the cheapest room, and then ask for a free upgrade to the most expensive room (which at my hotel is a difference of about $20 most nights) because they "really want the better room". If you want the better room that badly, then pay the extra money for the better room.

I'm the wrong person to haggle.
word of advice never haggle with a person that has nothing to loss.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I think I've mentioned it before, but I just flat out don't haggle. The price is the price, take it or leave it. I don't understand why people think it's ok to try and talk down the price of a hotel room. I mean, do they try that at the grocery store or a restaurant? No. But for some reason hotel prices are still seen as negotiable. Not by me, they're not.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well I have actually had people try to haggle with me when I worked at a grocery store. I just gave them a blank look until they stopped.
