Oh yes. Very much so. That was one of the reasons I used to hate going into the city itself.

My kid's school is a little weird in that they have K-2 in one building and 3-5 in another. So they had the 'graduation' ceremony this morning. The other parents were getting all teary and I was so mad because they were making it hard not to cry. And I had to smile like the whole time so Bryce would know that everything was okay. He's been great all week, but this was a bit much for him and I could see him freaking out every time there was applause. And seeing parents upset made him think he should be upset....Sigh. Hope he was able to bounce back for the rest of the school day.

Some people go overboard on both sides of the fence. No carte blanches should be handed out on either side.

today Germany installed the Cyber-Defence-Agency.
It will be manned with the sharpest knifes in the drawers of our Federal-Police, Border Protection, Defence Ministry, Secret Service.
All 17 of them!

Wow, that's some underwhelming news

Interesting...
Granted, the overall feel is that they went their separate ways at the end of the movie, and it doesn't SEEM like they'd work together, but Charles Xavier is ever the optimist and Magneto is always willing to abuse that optimism.

Actually, that's just what they want the public to think. In truth, the CDA was developed to try and protect German from invasion by a powerful AI that has embedded itself it the internet. This digital behemoth, sometimes referred to as The PMG, is constantly attempting to download itself into as many systems as possible, all in an attempt to further spread its already significant control over humanity.

I made sure to use the qualifier "in general" so I don't paint every individual with the same brush, but I've posted a ton of stuff about NOPD's very serious violations, so I think you know where I'm coming from.

I did forget one ingrediant that turns even a Vancouverian into a raging sports monster. Liberal amounts of alcohol. That's when you see the Scots-Irish roots of the Canadians show, LOL. And those Canadians can DRINK! My bio mom at 64 can drink me straight under the table, and the men in the family are twice as bad.
Firstly: No, it's supposed to mean "free."
Secondly: Verbal irony. (See "polysemous" above. I think.)
Firstly: there are shades of meaning in using that word in conjunction with alcohol, Mr. Webster. It connotes a large quantity flowing freely. Liberal only means 'free' in certain juxtapositions. I know my vocabulary sir, never doubt it
Secondly, I resent the imputation that somehow I am insulting the philosophy of Liberalism by using that word correctly in a sentence that had nothing to do with politics. YOU, good Master Wil, are the one always trying to stir up a political conversation in a thread that has rules about such things
Now, I am wasting one of my few moments of break typing this reply out on my iBorg. If you don't like what I type I suggest you just ignore it.

Whoa. That was a bit uncalled for. I wasn't trying to bring politics into it. I didn't mean to connote "free" as a liberal concept - it was simply the best synonym I could find in this situation. I most definitely was not implying that you insulted liberals!
I figured it was light-hearted enough (given the connotations, in this thread, of "polysemous"). Apparently I have insulted you. I assure you, however, I did not mean to insult.
I meant "flowing freely," not that a person called "liberal" is somehow more devoted to freedom than anyone else. I can see how it angered you, but it was not my intent.
I sometimes post obliquely about politics, but this was not such a time.
The Spirit of FaWTL thread(s) has changed too much.
