Well, I mean, I'm in my 30s now. Solidly in my 30s. When I was young, in my early 20s, it'd be 2, maybe 3pm before I woke up. Just can't sleep in like that anymore.
Yeah, I'm starting to top-end on the 30s bracket, myself; only reason I'm up in the AM at all is 'cause I need the cash. I *do* set my alarms waaaaay early so I can feel like I'm sleeping in . . . .
Had it my way?? Up between noon and 1, bed about 6 AM.
EDIT: While naked, of course. :)

Okay. Need to get stuff for travelling to London in January. So far, I've accumulated:
...
4 TSA approved luggage locks
As far as I know, they still don't like 'em and they'll still cut 'em off. Does anyone else know?
I thought they HAD to be able to access your luggage with you not around, or they wouldn't let it go through...

Don't TSA agents all have skeleton keys that open TSA approved locks?

I'm the very definition of morning person, so much so, I didn't even drink coffee until I was over 30 and I still cheerfully got up super early.
I blame my family, we had a first come first serve thing, so if I wanted the good cereal or watch good cartoons I had to get up pretty damn early. If I remember correctly they started Saturday morning cartoons with Robotech from 5:00-6:00 and I never missed an episode.

Same here! My father called me a failed mathematician, because mathematicians are machines for turning coffee into equations, and I didn't drink coffee.

Nah, for me it was a paper route. My friend would knock on my window at 3:30 am, and we'd run off and raise mayhem in the neighborhood. Nothing like driving a VW Rabbit on the sidewalk at 4:30 am in the morning to raise one's spirits!

As I said, no idea. I just know the *one* time I tried locking my bag post-9/11, they called me aside and said to open it or they'd cut off the lock.
Cue all the news stories about tens of thousands of dollars' worth of stuff vanishing from checked bags over the next few years...

One of my favorite things was being the faculty advisor for a college anime club.
"Everyone in here's over 18, right? So what the heck do *I* care what you watch? Just keep in mind that I HAVE to be in here with you, so you might not want to go TOO over-the-top."
(The college had the usual bizarre U.S. obsession with "sex is bad, but violence is fine", so it was stuff that was adult-rated for gore, not nudity or sex. Because... Puritans!)
The president of the club was a wonderful Chinese girl who self-taught herself Japanese just by watching Anime, and who introduced me to the original Escaflone and Elf Princess Rane. Good times were had!
I suppose other faculty members might have been appalled, but when we actually had a public event, I made 'em tone it down to PG-13...

The General went with Pea Bear to parent teacher conferences, I should feel bad but then I remember I went last year.
Parent teacher conferences are all fun and praise... when they do their homework and finish their projects, otherwise it's like Bart's parent teacher conferences from The Simpsons. :-)

Rosita, you seem to have focused rather heavily on the London rain. Just be aware that a warm shirt, a raincoat and a good pair of boots is all you need. Contrary to popular belief, London is inhabited, even almost civilized. What you need once there is a subway card. You may also want to book tickets for a musical or such. They will be booked out when you get there.

Does anyone else ever have the paranoid thought (however fleeting) that you're in a Matrix-cum-Trunan Show-esque situation, where others are watching your life for <reason>?
Because I sure do. It tends to come around more often when coincidences bunch up to make you go, "Huh - this is an awful lot like a script." in your life. Or at random kno ends like today. And I can never be sure if I thin it's a good thing or a bad thing: it could be kind of cool to have a ton of people following you, cheering for you, and so on... but I also feel like it could be a weighty burden to be responsible for all that, not to mention a preference of privacy (though, to be fair, if I and/or anyone else were in such a situation, privacy is really no longer a thing - it never was, so it's not lost, so much as reconsidering your opinion on it.
Anyway, random thoughts.

Just played Halo w/ some of the local crew last night. Never watched much Red v. Blue -- can't help but think of all the plasma grenades they could be throwing instead of all the humor. :D
After spending something like 26+ hours with them, I am fairly attached to those terrible and I likable people of the RvB, whereas having spent 0 hours playing Halo... I'm not. I suppose it all depends on your experiences...
Anyway, Roswell is almost done ?probably what got me thinking about being monitored and watched), so expect a final update on the show later today... IF I can get that last episode in today. Busy day...
EDIT: I'll say this about RvB - the first Season and a half were rather uninteresting. Heck, maybe even the first three? There were some solid moments, both funny and intriguing, but it was less than inspiring for the most part. It then gets surprisingly good.

London in ye monthe of January will be hard to mistake for ye Balmye Tropicks, so some sort of Cloake, Cape or Topcoat would be advisable.
Alsoe, a padded Jacke or Aketon, Pig Faced Bascinet and Loin-Sneerers are essential, should thou wish to be in ye Fashion. Rapiers over a certaine lengthe are banned within ye citie walles, but a Langes Messer or Curtle-Axe are acceptable in alle but ye most swankye Tavernes.
Ye Subway Cardes are knowne as Oyster Cardes, because they are printed on the shelles of ye sayme and all ye instructions are in Yiddish.

Roswell nonsense!
Fair warning before we start: enjoying Roswell means my slow journey to "stereotypical housewife" is complete!
So:
SEASON 1
Episode 1: Actually really awesome, and well done!
Episode 4: Very much so disagree with the "moral" involved - but it's relatively understandable
Episode 5: Needless drama~!
Episode 7: So awesome!
Episode 8: Needless drama~!
Episode 9: ... sigh. This reaction to a heat wave represents exactly zero people I know.
Episode 10: Needless drama~!
Episode 11: ... convenient that this particular kind of incident only occurred after the series stars. (Also, it makes it look like the protags have gotten extremely sloppy as teens.)
Episode 13: Johnathan Fraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakes~!
Episode 14: >.<
Episode 15: ... actually pretty daggum awesome.
Episode 16: Be warned, all: this is never how it happens ever.
Episode 17-19: >.<
Episode 20: Needless drama~!
Episode 21-22: Actually really awesome.
** spoiler omitted **SEASON 2
Episode 1-2: "We couldn't get the actors back!" plus needless drama~! (But also strong and interesting set-up for "accurate misdirection," later.)
Episode 3: Compelling.
Episode 4: HILARIOUSLY AWESOME~!
Episode 5: ... wat. THAT'S NOT HOW THAT WORKS.
Episode 6: Actually pretty awesome. ERROR: PRETTY BREATHY FOR A DEAD LADY, ISN'T SHE?!
Episode 7: Hokey Explanation. Very interesting episode. <spoiler> becomes more interesting for the first time, due to actions at the end.
Episode 8: ... wat. THAT'S JUST SILLY. (Still dramatic, though.)
Episode 9: ... >_<
Episode 10: Actually really sweet. I like it!That's what I've got so far! Figured I'd share, in case people were desperate to know...
(I- I've fallen into a stereotype with this show. I guess stay-at-home dads are more similar to stay-at-home moms than many suspect...! In my defense, it's not technically a soap opera, and it technically falls under science fiction... even if nothing works that way... *cough*)
...
... and now...
... more Roswell~!
Season 3
S3:E6: d'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwww-squee~!
S3:E7: ... dang-it. >:I ... and also d'aaaawwwesome~!
S3:E8: more needless drama~!I'll be interested to see how this ends...
Again!
S3:E9: Wonderful!
S3:E10: >.> Sigh.
S3:E11: more needless drama~! ... but a really funny-weird way of going about it...
S3:E12: ... wat.
S3:E13: ... wow. Pretty solid.
S3:E14: Solid.
S3:E15: I feel it's needless drama... but it's also somewhat earned/justified/projected well in advance (except for that one thing - that's both weird and unpleasant)...
S3:E16: Huh. Interesting. This... seems really close to the end, and I don't see something specifically building toward anything? Pluuussssus... needless drama~! (Such a daggum soap opera.) XI
(To be fair, it's part of a through-line of needless drama that's been going on for a while, but it's still entirely needless.)
S3:E17: ... wat. Wh-wwwwwhhhhaaaaaaaaaaat...? -> NEEDLESS DRAMA >:( though there are some pretty cool things, too -> D'aawww... that's actually really sweet. Needless drama, but sweet.
S3:E18: DAGGUMMIT. ಠ_ಠ
(Daggummit, people, you need to get better at controlling your stuff and/or destroying it. Though, you know, I guess it doesn't matter anymore as you ended the series on that note, you jerks. >:I)
Welp. That's that.
To be fair, the series ended on a hopeful note, and a sweet moment... buuu~uuut so did Season 1, and Season 2 (and then three) still happened the way it did. But I get what they're going for, so... not a bad ending, I guess, in the end. And, really, it ended kind of like it had to. I just wish there was more to the ending. :D

26 hours in the single or multiplayer?
Because that makes a difference. To be clear, I am not actually challenging how attached you are. It makes total sense. Rather, I'm suggesting that a set of 26 hours is not necessarily equal to another set of 26 hours. It depends on if that set has a powerful, or at least moderately interesting, narrative and strong characterization. I do not know how long the single player campaign for halo is, but I'd imagine that if you played it for 26 hours, then you'd have a similar connection. That said, if it's simply multiplayer, where you are effectively a space marine, without a face, then I would suggest that a single set of 26 hours is not the equivalent of a large narrative arc, such as what is seen in red versus blue. But, being certain as I am that you have played many, many more hours of halo than just the 26 in question, I would suggest that you definitely have a strong emotional attachment to that particular element. :-)
In other news, my phones talk type program knows how to do ":-)" by voice command. That's pretty funny.

26 hours in the single or multiplayer?
Yes.
We play more multiplayer than campaign, but our multiplayer efforts consist of either:
1) "Training" sessions across multiple iterations of the Halo games with Darth Narsus/Phalanx-brother (campaign, firefight, duels), or
2) Multi-game slayer/team slayer sessions with the gang invading someone's house for somewhere between 3-8 hours. None of the online gaming requirements and irritations; besides, internet providers out here are . . . well . . . not able to support our needs for such endeavors at tolerable costs.
The narrative isn't so much "red team" vs "blue team" vs "dookie brown team" (a local favorite), as it is: Narsus is oppressively good with Covenant Banshees; Syrus' team wins 90+% of the time on Halo 4; Fishing is best all-around; Hickslayer snipes like NobodysBusiness; Cup'o'Death has ridiculous aerial beatdown skills; . . . . Etc.
Probably a very different milieu than you expected . . . .
Some of the hardcore Halo players out there would probably laugh at our game-time methodology, but I'd put our crew (whole, or in part) against any other group on standard maps/weapons and anticipate good games.
________
No one / no thing heeds my voice commands . . . . Lucky you! :)

Tacticslion |

Hah!
No, actually, that's pretty much exactly the narrative I expected - and the reason it's significant to you. Once you enter the Multiplayer, you rarely get so attached to specific "generic team" colors (though that can happen, especially if it's a permanent choice, ala Pokemon Go) and more "this is my local fun with friends" - in other words, it's exclusively your goofing around "narrative" that is your friendships.
Halo, in this case, is effectively irrelevant, save that it is the milieu by which your friendships are forged and collectively enjoyed.
This is exactly why I suggested the set of 26 hours isn't equal. You're not really building Halo memories, per se, you're building friendship memories that happen to involve Halo - eventually, however, the milieu becomes so ingrained into your culture that the narrative builds itself. But because this is real life, that narrative takes place over a slow build.
It's pretty much never about "Red versus Blue" - even when you're playing exactly that.
(It's worth noting, the Red vs. Blue series really isn't actually about "Red vs. Blue" either - that's a loose premise that gives the basic set-up, but governs approximately a single one of the characters' goals... a set of goals which are generally played for laughs.)
All that said, Halo may well have hooked you for other reasons - but that, too, has nothing to do with how long you've played it (outside of a few elements, like the single-player narrative).
No one / no thing heeds my voice commands . . . . Lucky you! :)
Eh, I've got kids. I don't have a choice. :D
