Why change him from ASD to OHI?

Kellen is listed as OHI. Not sure of the differences though. Sorry things are rough for you guys right now. (((hugs)))

No, we're trying to get it changed from OHI to ASD. Mostly because the school refuses to deal with the autism aspect of his behavior challenges and the change of classification means being able to get the autism consultant into the classroom without having to spend the entire year proving 'need'. :/

They swear that there's no difference between classifications but then why make such a fuss about changing it? Sigh. I hate bureaucracy.

Thanks for the hugs. And I'm glad that Kellen is doing so much better. :)

That's awful that you need to constantly prove your son needs help. Here's hoping you are able to get the info you need to have the diagnosis changed. I am struggling with that myself currently with someone on my caseload.

Spoiler:
Organization: Hey, Mr. Person on FHDM's caseload, you came down with down's syndrome after you turned 22 so we can't help you.

Person on FHDM's caseload: Wha? Is that even possible?

Exhausting, but the project went pretty well. 20,000+ man hours with zero recordables. I got to expand my IH skill set a bit. I picked up a little extra work on a short project here in the Springs at Drake. Also zero recordables.

It really is good to have you back.

Someone enjoyed that movie?? I admit there are parts of it I liked but damn, it just did not live up to the hype.

I am wondering what the "next" Hulk will be like since Ed Norton was supposedly so hard to work with they did not want him back and cancelled the sequel. Or so the internet rumors say, and we all know the internet never lies.

I liked both of the Hulk movies, but my degree isn't psychology.

Mairkurion {tm} wrote:
So, Bitter Thorn...what's the story?

I worked a couple of power plant maintenance outages back to back. They are short term projects, but I put in 80 to 90 hours a week during most outages, so I basically do nothing but a work, shower, eat and sleep cycle until the outage is done. This one was close to home, but it was made even harder because of stress I had to deal with at home dealing with my SO's addict daughter on top of raising said daughters kids. It's been mentally and physically exhausting, but things are looking up, and I get some recovery time now that I'm laid off. Hopefully my savings aren't drained by legal fees.

It's nice to be back here. I'm looking forward to gaming again soon, and I have tickets for Apocalyptica here in the Springs for Thursday night!

I'm pissed to hear about Derrick though.

I hope you and yours have been well.

Dayyum. 1. Glad you survived and 2. Glad you're back. Addicts can make life hell for their loved ones. Got a nephew packed off to a lock-up school right now myself.

Yeah, I'm kind of pissed about HD as well, but I don't know the whole story, or even a quarter of it.

It's been stressful, but we're making it. I've got to put a plan together this summer. Crossing my fingers for a positive change. Thanks for asking.

So...you guys heard the Cars are back together?

Pat: Thanks for the help. I don't know, maybe I should come up with a name based on sound and then use "City of Merchants and Thieves" as kind of a catch phrase or tagline. I'm going to ask some folks for Farsi help and see how that strikes me.

Story line in that first movie was fine, even enjoyable. For me the suck was the graphics, and how in one frame he would be 7ft tall and in another like 12 ft tall. :P

Yeah. We're trying, anyway. Job hunting long distance is tough; a lot of companies don't want to talk to you unless you are already local. We might have to move without that. PODS is a must, I think.

Agh. You're the second person to reverse it. I've checked it. Yes, I did type it correctly. Get it right people! ;P

It's to ASD from OHI. Basically he has to meet a particular checklist of highly subjective criteria, and they refuse to define them. I start asking questions like what is considered clinically significant and all I get is waffly gobbledygook. And then there's the fact that if he doesn't qualify as ASD, he does qualify under EI, but they still want to keep him as OHI. So now we have to figure out what EI entails and what protections that gives him that OHI doesn't and if that's a good option to fight for or not. Anyway you look at it it's a mess right now and involves a lot of reading of laws and regulations. :(

It generally sucks. That's been my experience. Oh, and Uhaul is great for local moves. Did it once long distance. Never again. There are times when the moving company's ridiculous rates are worth it.

Also, if you have pets give them children's dramamine before you start driving with them. Well, you might not need to give it to dogs. They kinda like car rides. The cats never did. And motion sick kitties...not pretty. Or quiet.

A lot of moving companies have an option where they can tow the car behind the truck. I believe Uhaul also has this option. Never had to try it on account of never actually having two working cars at the time of a move. :/

Fortunately no pets to move (although we'd like some).

Uhaul is out. Tentatively, we may be driving out there and staying with friends and family while we look for a place. With PODS, we can have them hold our popd until we have an address. That's what we're thinking of doing.

Went to the zoo today. It was fun. Perfect weather for it too. Seventy degrees and sunny with a light breeze. The peacocks were really strutting their stuff this time and Bryce was fascinated. We bought him a peacock feather in the gift shop and when we got home I told him to put his stuff away. I came back to the living room five minutes later to find him with the feather tucked into the back of his shirt strutting around pretending to be a peacock. Priceless. :D
