But, on a more ruthless note (no offense), does this mean two of the four alternates can be "tapped"?

When I looked at the list, it was unsorted, so the two that had problems may well *be* alternates... but yes, there is that potential.

OMFG that is funny.....lol

That picture of the first volume of the Polish Grammar book for beginners and the info underneath had me rolling, good stuff.

Luckily, I noted real names in your profile were required weeks ago and changed it then.

As for silly real life names, my mom's gastrologist is named (absolutely true) Dr. Louis Strain. She also had a girlfriend in high school named Fanny Rape. (I am seriously not kidding here!)

In college, I met someone named Candi Love.

And I once heard a cop tell a story about pulling over someone named Fuk Yu.

EDIT: Apparently, auto-replacement also works on misspelled profanity.

One thing that I can do with impunity is contribute to the threadjack.

My intent by the way was not the jack the thread, but to point out that some people have names, that to many people, can take as a joke name even though it is their real name given to them at birth.

Such as Richard Stillhard. If said person entered the contest and under his profile he put Dick as his first name instead of Richard, then he may want to go change it to Richard to try and clear it up a bit.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32 , Star Voter Season 6

In any case, the discussion is keeping the thread bumped.

Also, baseball names are legendary for this. Dick Pole, Razor Shines, Boof Bonser, Milton Bradley...

Bump.

You do not want to get DQed for this.

Thanks for the bump. It was an insane weekend (I'm on the board of a new dance company and we had performances) and I missed this. I checked and I wasn't impacted, but I still appreciate.

Once again, Paizo goes out of their way to give us every last opportunity to progress. Thanks guys!

Hockey as well. Who remembers Satan...(real name Miroslav Satan)

I still can't really believe there was a Nascar driver named Dick Trickle.

And that, apparently, they named a race after him (the Dick Trickle 99).

Who knew that you couldn't register with the dwarven equivalent of your real name?

Bah. Anybody can edit that. The OED says, "The proper plural form is mongooses, but mongoose, mongeese, and other variants are occasionally used."

But now that it is stickied that isn't really necessary any more.

Not that I mind the funny / weird names though :)

So did anybody else's heart stop for a split second when they saw an e-mail from Paizo in their inbox that mentioned RPG Superstar in the subject? Heheh. (It was just a reminder to check your name on your personal settings page.)

Not complaining, I'm glad they sent that out. But I did get extremely curious for a second there... :)

Yeah. My wife is still amused at me after I told her about my initial reaction. :D

I just think that Piazo is going above and beyond what I think is required of them for this contest, just goes to show you the character this group of people have. I for one would be highly honored to be selected into the top 32, and continue to compete to receive a chance to work with such upstanding individuals.

Glad I saw it mentioned here first, then. After back to back disappointments yesterday both in football and the golden globes, another false bout of excitement might have crushed me utterly.

I was kinda worried there that I didn't get one. But then I noticed that for some reason my thunderbird stopped collecting emails.

While working at a mortgage company, my wife encountered a client she unfortunately had to phone several times. First name: "Harry", second name, an abbreviation for Richard starting with 'D'.

Also had a client Rusty Niell, but that one wasn't so hard to ask after on the telephone.

Stickied doesn't keep it at the top of the list when viewing from outside the forum however. So keeping it going means it says in the "recent list" so it can be seen there.

Actually Vic that could be a problem -- If the stick posts don't view from the "top" of the forum someone like myself could miss it -- I generally don't go into the forums instead clicking on the threads that catch my eye: Since the stickies don't appear they normally don't catch my eye -- the name of this one did make me pick it though.

hahaha yes!

And that's the second time in a week too, since last week Sean K Reynolds shot me an email regarding last year's item that just got published in KQ.

I'm just hoping it's all practice for the real deal tomorrow. :)

And I agree with the others that it's awesome of them to send out the emails to make sure no one gets DQ'ed on a technicality. Paizo does a top-notch job with this contest every year. They are to be commended for all their hard-work and dedication to the community.

Yeah...

But you gotta hand it to Paizo. They are going a lot further than they really needed to, to make sure that the top 32 don't get DQ'd for a silly oversight.

I'm glad they are being this conscientious about it. Makes me like them even more than I already do.

I can still see the thread from the outside, and with the email sent that shouldn't be a problem anyway.

Oh well, I'm not going to worry about it too hard -- paizo knows what they are doing.

Speaking of funny foreign names:

I happen to know a (really good looking) Asian girl whose first name is "Takemi" - I think that's really not the best first name for someone studying in an English speaking country... ;)

Speaking of weird names. My dentist was Dr. Mangle, and my mother's GP was Dr. Butcher.

Mine's just one of those nutty hyphenated ones and is completely unique, so I'm not gonna put it in public unless I do get chosen.

It is a problem if we don't have a board name? I filled out my real name (it's "Erik" if you didn't catch that), and I just never created a boardname. Is that okay?

It's all good -- we are just awesome enough to not need an alias.

RPG Superstar 2010 Top 32 aka Hydro

I've basically been using the same alias since I first discovered chat rooms and message boards twelve years ago. There's just never seemed to be a good time to change it.

I found it exceptionally amusing that, considering the point of the email, it addressed me by my first name.(after the soar of excitement of course)

"My name is Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire. I own a mansion and a yacht."

Sorry, couldn't resist.

We don't show sticky threads at the top in forum overview pages because if we did, some forum overviews would display nothing *but* stickies.
