I am curious if anyone has ever found a resource online for getting bulk random minis (not concerned about brand or material, but hoping for low-tech fantasy) at an economical rate?

The cheapest are paper minis if you're interested in that sort of thing.. Some are made for specific paizo APs and they're easy to create if you have pdfs and Gimp/Photoshop

I lurk on ebay. Often there are whole collections of "commons" for sale that really noone wants. So you can come by a rather large number of even prepainted minis for just a few bucks.

This however carries that risk of addiction (oooh, I have such nice figurines, but now I need something like a chimera - how much for one of these, what!?!, anyways gotta have it ;-).

Yeah, so true, I, myself, became an addict. I must have spent over 100 bucks in miniatures. Luckily for me, I found a chimera in a random box! (;

Ebay is the devil! I don't know how many thousands of dollars I spent there on mini's. No longer made L5R armies, check. Ral Partha minis for nostalgia, check. The limited edition Takahisis mini that I couldn't afford when I was younger, and now costs for $250, check.
That being said, you can check out mega mini's on ebay. They have miniatures grouped into townsfolk, orcs, dwarves, etc.

Mini are the Devil...

..have lost ttwo GM in the past were they bankrupted themselves getting them... and then had to get a second job to pay for them and not have any time to GM any more.
