Welcome players! Please post here as soon as possible to confirm that you accept your invitation into the game.
From there, we'll get cracking on character sheets. Once again, the rules for character creation are:
1st level, maximum hit points
No evil alignments
20 point buy
Average starting wealth
2 Traits (one Campaign Trait, one other)
Ask first for anything not in the Core Rules or APG (I'll probably say yes, but still...)
I like this mix of roles and personalities quite a lot. I'll admit that the group is a bit more human(Chelaxian)-centric than I would find ideal, but that's okay. It's a small price to pay for what looks like a really good group.
Let me know if I can be of any assistance with your characters.

Tariro reporting for duty. Thanks for the opportunity. I'll peruse the Character sheet, and make sure it's updated, since I did it before the Serpent's skull book and APG came out.
Good deal. I perused too, and it looks like Tariro needs a Campaign Trait and a Patron. It also looks like maybe she's got one too many skill ranks used. Overall, though, she looks to be put together quite well. Very little editing required.

Awesome, we're all here! Just let me know if you need anything. Looking forward to reviewing your sheets and getting things rolling... :)
Still working on Kyson. I've made his background a mix of rustic and urban. He was raised a day's travel away from Egorian, son to a huntsman. His family steered as clear as possible away from Chelaxian politics, nobility, and the menacing Hellknights. His father schooled him in the ways of the woods and the bow, as well as reverence for Old Deadeye (devotee of the green). In spite of this 'good influence', the boy always lusted after the excitement of travels to far away places, including the 'big city'. Immediately upon adulthood, he left home for Egorian. There he learned the ways of the city, mostly the hard way. Fortunately, he's a survivor and found ways to use his rural skills in the city. He also picked up new skills while weathering the slings and arrows of life in the 'urban jungle' (urban ranger). A few years ago he fell into steady work as an apprentice to one of Egorian's master scribes. He had a fairly adept hand for the work, but his lust for travels to the places represented on the maps he would occasionally be tasked with copying often made him slack at the other tasks given to him. His interest and ability at reading maps was noticed by his master, and he was introduced (passed along) to a master cartographer. He honed his mapping skills under his new mentor, very happy that his new career included some field work (travels to Chelaxian holdings outside of the boundaries of the nation itself). He has travelled to the Mwangi Expanse once before, serving as an assistant (and porter) to his master for the trip. Ever since he has sworn to return to the vast wildnerness himself, prepared to explore and chart (and possibly loot) his way to fame and fortune. He has invested all of his savings in what equipment he believes he needs and is anxious to make landfall and set to work. The only problem on his horizon right now is that the trip from Cheliax to Sargava has taken more of his coin than he has hoped. This leaves him short of the coin he hoped to use to hire porters and such for his expedition to the interior.

One question; may I use part of the 200 gp for exploration equipment that comes with the 'Boarded in Cheliax' trait to purchase a couple of MW tools (thieves tools, cartographer's set, and a MW scroll case)?
| Dragolan Canario |
Here's Dragolan's character sheet. Incidentally, I was thinking that in his case the fluff explanation for his curse might include not only the presence of malevolent minor spirits, but also a tendency for once-living substances to briefly reanimate slightly because he's so full of life--wood moves like a tree in the wind, leather flexes like living skin, etc. Let me know if you think that's reasonable.

Yes, I'd be okay with that...seems like exactly the sort of equipment the funds should be spent on.
Nice background, by the way! I enjoyed it.

I'm okay with this idea, just so long as the effect is minor and strictly for role-playing purposes.

I do believe Nichelle is done.. can't think of a second trait that I want that does not seem like I'm gaming the system, nor can I think of another that fits, so I'll run with that, I believe.
No problem, there's no obligation to choose a second trait.
I'll have a look at the finished sheets (Dragolan, Nichelle) and post any comments I may have.

scranford, I just realized that Tariro's 'extra' skill rank is probably due to her favored class choice. Disregard my remark, if that's so.

John, I've had a good look at Dragolan. I have a couple of comments...
First, it looks like his shield has not been factored in for Dragolan's AC, or for ACP adjustments to skills. Is this an oversight, or is he not planning on carrying his shield most of the time?
Second, I believe Oracles begin play knowing only four 0-level orisons. Dragolan has six listed.
Otherwise, he looks terrific (though with some cash left to spend, as previously mentioned).
Well done.

Me'mori, looks like there are a couple of math errors (or typos) in your skills totals. Can you double-check?
Also, just to make sure I've got it all down, would you mind giving me a rundown of how she gets to +11 on Craft(Alchemy)? I'm coming up with only +10, so I'm sure I'm overlooking something. Thanks!

Whoops, yes--I missed it for both AC and ACP. Will fix that. I'll leave the shield off of the Climb & Swim ACPs because I don't see him trying to climb or swim with the shield equipped, but will annotate that.

Thank you! The extra two orisons come from the Haunted curse--it adds mage hand and ghost sound to spells known at first level, and if he survives he'll pick up a few other bonus spells at higher levels.

Whups! Had been looking at the "Master Alchemist" feat from the APG too much. Corrected. As for the skill ranks, 8(class)+ 2(Int) + 1(Skilled) should be about right, yes?

Ah, of course, I'd forgotten about that benefit of the curse. Mea culpa, carry on, nothing to see here...
;)

You're referring to the Skilled racial trait for being human, correct? My understanding is that it gives you an additional skill rank (which, in Nichelle's case, would come to a total of 11 ranks...the same number that she has assigned, it appears). In this case, it looks like you've applied this as an extra skill point, which I'm not sure is correct.

Good deal, I'll have a look at him tonight. How is everyone else coming along? I could see the IC thread making its debut this weekend, if everyone thinks they can have their sheets ready by then. What say you all?
I think I'm set, now that I've fixed AC & ACP. This weekend should be fine after Saturday morning (FYI--currently at GMT -5, changing to -6 in a couple of weeks).

I'll be out of town and AFK until late Saturday. Should be ready on Sunday, though!

Actually, upon digging deeper, I've noticed a couple other minor things.
I think Dragolan's AC should be 15 (and 14 when flat-footed)? 10 +3(armor) +1(Shield) +1(DEX)
It looks like a +1 attack modifier is missing from his melee dagger attack.
And, I think his save DC against positive energy channeling should be 13, because his half a class level rounds down to zero.
That's my final word on Dragolan, I promise! :)

Then the question would be whether or not being a human would allow her maximum ranks in a skill to be her level plus one (skill rank)
Or a an extra skill rank, which would put the number of ranks that she can assign to her total skills at 11 every level (assuming that she can only have a number of ranks in a skill equal to her level).
I am becoming confused by terminology. I count skill ranks as being equal to skill points, as in "only one may be assigned to a skill per level".
Definitely confused now. So I'll ask, "What is the difference between a skill rank and a skill point?" @.@;

No problem; although I've been gaming for a long time I'm still pretty new to Pathfinder/3.x, and I appreciate you taking the time to go over the sheet. Fixed now?

Back and good to go. If you would, Black Shuck, check out Kyson and see if he's good to go.
Thanks

This dude ain't coming back.
@Me'mori: Remember Simple Simon? I believe you were someone he picked up, if I recall correctly. I bet you it's the same chump.
Simple Simon/Black Shuck/Archon Adept: My guess would be all the same. He offers up a pbp, talks it up in the OOC, says something to the effect of "will have more in a minute" or "should start up by the weekend", and then vanishes.
Dude's just a freak who likes to get people to create characters and then leave them hanging. Apparently he thinks it's funny or something. Pretty sad someone gets their kicks by doing that. THAT, IMO, is the true definition of a REAL loser. Probably some 4E guy or something. "Let's go screw with the Pathfinder people!" As he breaks out in a dorkish/snorty laugh.
Sorry for the outbreak, but I feel like I should at least say something and when you start comparing threads, outside of the name change, they are all to similar.
Just watch out for the next cat that comes in here ready to start up a game and only has one post to his name.
The good thing is, it's fun to create new pc's but it gets tiring to deal with idiots like this.
I'm hoping I'm wrong on this (don't think I am) because then that means he'll show up and you guys will get your game.
| Me'mori |
If it is, that person's creating multiple accounts all for this... S'why I don't offer full characters anymore, just the premise, a taste of their history and go from there.. If it gets picked up, fine, but that character still won't make their first post until the game starts.

PbP is popular enough that there's no shortage of people willing to take a chance when someone shows up offering to ref. That makes it easy to set people up, if that's what you're into. It still sucks.
I had a DM disappear partway into the first melee of RotRL, but s/he had posted before on the boards; s/he hadn't run anything by PbP before, and maybe didn't realize how much time it'd take. OK, I'm being charitable, here.
Anyway, I'm going to hang onto my character; maybe I'll use it sometime, and at least I learned something about making up oracles.
