Can you please see if it is possible for a sorcerer to purchase spells on scrolls between sessions and commit them to memory? I looked at the rules and could not see where that is prohibited. I also tried to find out information from the forum and struck out, but might have been looking in the wrong place. Certainly there seems to be a provision for wizards to find/buy scrolls and add them to their spell books, so does it also work for sorcerers?
That is what was asked of me. I remember seeing something along those lines but do not want to give bad information.
Can they do it like wizards or not?
Thanks in advance. My next session is October 17th and hoping for more than 5 people this go around. I do have interest so it sounds like it but......

Not sure this is the right place for this type of question, but I would say no for two reasons:
1. Page 70 of the PHB states specifically for wizards that "At any time, a wizard can also add spells found in other wizards’ spellbooks to his own (see Chapter 9)." There is nothing like this in the sorcerer's write-up.
2. Traditionally speaking...no, sorcerers have not been allowed to do this...roleplaying wise, their magic is innate, they do not learn it. Yes, they can use magical devices similar to a wizard (scrolls, wands, etc.) but this is only because they understand the nature of such things, not their inner secrets (as a wizard might be able to, since he/she learns about them).
Hope this helps!

Unfortunately, no. One of the limitations on the spontaneous casters (sorc, bard, etc.) are the narrow range of spells they can know. They only know the number of spells listed on the chart in their respective classes.
That being said, the sorcerer can buy scrolls and cast the spells directly from the scroll (as long as it was on their spell list).
Hope this helps.
