1) Not super vengeful.
2) The majority have 2–3 levels of the prestige class, and 5–7 levels of their entry class... so total level of 7–10. But there's also a lot of "trainees" who are basically single-classed lower level characters who haven't yet qualified for the prestige class. In the end, though... make them whatever level they need to be for your requirements for the adventure you're doing.
3) 15th to 20th level. Their current leader is a cleric 9/Red Mantis assassin 10 with some mythic stuff going on.
4) The Crimson Citadel is intended to be a megadungeon, and one that I'd LOVE to some day map out and populate. The library itself would likely be one of the goals of an invasion of the Crimson Citadel. It would probably be for a group of 14th or higher level PCs, and would be large...
Thanks for the info! This is going to help a lot if my players want to continue past their adventure path. Seems like I might have to 'buff' the citadel a bit because the players will probably be at least level 18 by the time they get there, but it seems like it won't be a huge change.
For the record, I would love to see the Crimson Citadel fully built as a dungeon in an adventure path :D
As for the demigod my players are killing...
Oh, one last question. Does the Mantis God have a herald, and if so, what would he/she/it be like?

What drew you to RPG's and what made you decide this is what you want to do as a career?
My 5th grade teacher split the class up into several groups and ran each one of the groups one at a time through a dungeon he built, using the old-tyme blue book edition of the game. Once we'd finish a session, someone in the group had to write that session up as a short story, so it was not only a social activity but a trick he played to get 5th grade kids to write. I loved the game, and then when I got a copy of the AD&D Monster Manual and saw all the incredible monsters and artwork inside, I knew I'd found my favorite hobby.
What made me decide this is what I want to do as a career was getting an adventure published in Dungeon #12 when I was about 14 years old. I figured that if I could get paid for writing one adventure, why couldn't I get paid for doing more?

1. Would it be safe to say the mythic tiered runelords have Sihedron Tomes?
2. How would the technology of Thassilon compare to Alkenstar, which allegedly has steel frames (Guide to Korvose, p.16)?
3. Why didn't Thassilon go any farther than northwestern Avistan?
Silly question time! Given Sorshen's resemblance to Ms. Frost (more so than Vampirella, anyway) I got to wondering…
4. How would she be as a DM? Who would she game with?
5. If Golarion wanted to trade with other planets in its system, what would it have to offer that other worlds couldn't get either locally, from other advanced worlds, or from the Diaspora and other asteroids?

1) It's probably safe to say that ALL of the runelords at one point had Sihedron Tomes, but I'm not quite ready to nail that down, becasuse there are more and less powerful methods to store and prepare spells, one of which will be revealed in Pathfinder #66.
2) Comparable but different.
3) Thassilon actually covered a pretty extensive and sizable realm. it didn't go further because Earthfall stopped the slow but steady expansion, and even then, the runelords were not super heavy into expanding territory.
4) HA! She'd be a bit more hard core and mean and, well, adult-themedt than Ms. Frost.
5) That'd change on a world-by-world basis, further adjusted by the specific region on each would. AKA: Too wide a subject to answer in a messageboard, which also means "Whatever you want for your game."

Are there any historical cultures that Ancient Thassilon "looks like" in the sense of clothing styles, architecture, artifice, etc? In the sense that Cheliax might resemble Rome or Venice, Vudra India, Quadira the Middle East, and so forth?
I get some vibes of ancient China, Tibet, Nepal what with the mountains, Leng and all, but how do you picture it?
Similarly, Azlant. I guess it is Atlantis, but does that "feel" ancient Greek or Roman, or something else entirely?

Thassilon (there is no need to put "ancient" in front of it) is a sort of mix between "Atlantis" and various Asian cultures, particularly from China and Tibet and Nepal. But with things built on an enormous scale.

You've probably answered these before, but I thought I'd ask just in case:
- What's your favorite character you've played?
- What's your favorite campaign you've played in (or ran)?
- What's your favorite Paizo Adventure Path?
My favorite character so far is Shensen, a character I played from about 2nd level up to about 18th level in a Forgotten Realms campaign Jason Nelson ran. After transplanting her into Golarion as an NPC, I'm playing her again in Erik Mona's "Kings of Absalom" campaign. My character from Age of Worms, Tyralandi Scrimm, is probably my 2nd favorite, but I'm working on new favorites now!
So far, Erik's Age of Worms campaign has been my favorite, but it kinda stopped halfway through Champion's Belt because we were too busy with switching over to do Pathifnder instead of the magazines...
I don't really have a favorite adventure path, though... They're all beautiful wonders!

Is there a Pathfinder RPG equivalent game that natives of Golarion can play? If so, what is it? and if not, what sort of games do they play instead?
Several kinds of board games are common across the Inner Sea region. Siege, a deeply strategic game wherein each player tries to surround the other’s pieces, is popular primarily with older adults, while more chaotic games like Wyvern’s Race and Doppel are tavern favorites. Pits and Perils has become increasingly popular in Cheliax and Taldor among the elite—those in the lead get to dictate (usually symbolic) penalties for those bringing up the rear.
====================================
I noticed, as I was looking through items in Hero Labs that Legacy of Fire introduced the Sentinel Scorpion for 50 GP that gives the usage of Large Scorpion Venom. Large Scorpion Venom is priced at 200 gp. Is this intentional?
It says there is a 10% chance each round of stepping on the stinger, but a smart player might just pick up the stinger and hit someone with it. It'd be a much cheaper alternative to buying the Venom outright.

I could've sworn I posted a question about Nex and its government hours ago. Weird.
To reiterate:
How exactly does the government in Nex work? The Council of Three and Nine seems confusingly laid out. I get that there's a representative from each of the major three Nex cities (the Three) and then there's nine others. But the entry says that there's "two representatives from each tribe."
Are there two reps from each of the nine tribes (making it more like the council of three and 18, sort of). Or is there some weird Nexian math where 2 * x = 9?
Also, how do the Three presently outweigh the Nine in votes? If it's so one-sided, what keeps the tribes around?
Thanks in advance, JJ!

Maybe they're not into RPGs and play Settlers of Khaz Modan? or maybe Papers and Paychecks, a fantasy rpg about a world where you work 9 to 5 and no magic exists? :)

I'm familiar with Shensen from the NPC Guide, but not your other character. Who is Tyralandi Scrimm?
Thanks for answering.
That would be me!
(Tyralandi was the iconic cleric from the Dungeon magazine era—Wayne's design for her was so cool that when Erik started up his Age of Worms game, I based my character on that art. She was a cleric of Wee Jas who channeled negative energy who multiclassed a little into binder... the name "Tyralandi" I stole from myself from a character I invented for "Porphyry House Horror.")

Nope. RPGs in rpgs get a little too meta for my tastes. There ARE plenty of other games that folks in Golarion play. Chess exists, for one thing. There's several types of card games and board games and dice games as well.

I doubt it's intentional. I'm not sure where that thing was introduced, frankly... it was back in the 3.5 days, though, and if we were to put it into a Pathfinder adventure we'd make changes.

Beyond what we've said about Nex in the Inner Sea World Guide... we've not said much more yet at all about the place. It's Erik's nation to develop, and until he's got the time to write more about it... details will need to remain vague.

but im gonna any way ^_^
but its a light question to which "I have no idea" is a valid answer.
if and when a second edition comes, and I am not saying one is needed, but if and when it comes is it likely to be a Paizo original re-imagining of the game mechanics, or is it more likely to be essentially another minor evolution of the original 3.0 > 3.5 > 3.5e > PF chain with an emphasis on backward comparability?
for some reason that question is keeping me up at 2am.

Hello James!
A couple of questions regarding the crafting of magical items.
1) The cost of magic supplies for the item is half of the base price cost.
The word "magical" added to "supplies" makes me think that the gold is spent on rare reagents, incenses and the such -am I right in assuming a character cannot convert (given enough time) raw, mundane materials of equal value into a magic item? Or could a caster, marooned on an island, obtain some raw material through Profession (Woodlogger), refine them through Craft (Woodworking) and use the value of whatever goods he manages to produce to use as supplies for his magic item?
2) This is a very strange question: how much "freedom" does the caster need in relation to the item he's crafting? Does he need to manipulate it? Touch it? See it?
Could a caster, held captive for several days and bound to a wall by masterwork manacles, use components smuggled into the cell to make his manacles a magic item? Could he make his own (masterwork) clothes a magic vest? A masterwork sword someone forgot in a corner of the room?
Thanks in advance for your answers :)

Sorry, just reposting my last questions since I think they were lost in the confusion. I'm just trying to make sure that if I have my party dealing with the Red Mantis that the event will be as 'authentic' as possible ;)
1. What would the Mantis God's reaction be to a party that was trying to truly kill the demigod Ydersius? Would he actually go and attack them directly?
2. Would the Red Mantis themselves take action against the party for doing this, or would they not care?
3. Does the Mantis God have a herald? I'm pretty sure it doesn't have stats yet, so maybe a better question is "Should he have a herald?".

Could he make his own (masterwork) clothes a magic vest? A masterwork sword someone forgot in a corner of the room? Thanks in advance for your answers :)
1) We keep the exact nature of the "magic supplies" vague because we don't want to have to get into the task of listing exact components/ingredients for each magic item, leaving that to each GM to decide how far down that rabbit hole to go. If you're a caster marooned on an island, in other words, it's up to your GM to decide if you can find or craft or scavenge the materials you need to build any magic items.
2) You need the ability to move around and manipulate tools and objects and stuff to craft a magic item. If you're manacled to the wall, you'd be as out of luck crafting a magic item as you would be casting most spells.

Thanks for the response on Nex, JJ.
It brings up a question that I hadn't considered before: What developers designed what countries? Obviously Varisia is your brainchild and now I know Nex was Erik's. How do the others shake out?
That's not all that easy to answer. Certain countries are very much the inventions of specific people here...
For me, that'd be Kyonin, Varisia, and Mediogalti Island.
For Wes, that'd be Ustalav.
For James Sutter, Hermea.
For Erik, Nex.
For Jason, Razmiran.
But then other folks come along and add lots of stuff. A lot of it from me when I was doing the revision to the Inner Sea World Guide, for example. And Wes and Sutter helped IMMENSELY in fleshing out Varisia. And so on.
And in several cases, it's hard to really backtrack much about a region because it gets complicated. The Hold of Belkzen, for example, comes from my homebrew world, but James Sutter's the one who wrote the most about it in print.

1) He probably wouldn't care. Since he had no role in Serpent's Skull, for example, and that's entirely what that AP was about, I'd say he doesn't care at all.
2) Nope. The Red Mantis has no real stake in Ydersius's fate.
3) Unknown, but probably.

Should we still be expecting to see the mythic beta in October or has it been pushed back to November?
As far as I know, it's still on the "as soon as possible" track. If it gets pushed to November, though... that'll cause some very real and very undesirable ripple effects to the book's schedule and development, and thus will strongly affect the Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path.
AKA: If it's not out in October, that'd be a relatively significant disaster, in my opinion, so I hope that doesn't happen.

He's also not the only teacher who shaped my future that strongly... being the son of a Public High School teacher has more or less shown me how important it is that you should let your teachers know when they have that important an effect on you. Teachers are the best! They're the reason we're all here and not banging rocks together to worship fire in fear.
