I used to work, several years ago, at a gas station. The lottery was in it's infancy here at that time. They did not have a power ball yet. It was just 7 numbers. I worked with a guy from Egypt. Lived in Alexandria till he came to the states. Cool dude, college student taking aeronautics at WSU. We produce tons of rocket scientists, who knew?
So anyway he was a math wiz and pretty cool with computers. This was maybe 97 so everyone loved windows still. He made himself this little program. He inputed the numbers of every lottery for the 9 months or so that it had been in effect. Then he tried to deduce the winning numbers. Did this as a game. One day he didn't show up for work and I had a double shift. Turns out he was pretty good with math predictions.
Never saw him again.

I"m a nerd. I love analyzing rules, optimizing character builds, theorizing on alternative rule sets that would better model some behavior I don't think d20 or Pathfinder models well enough. I love check out playtests and playing around with new rules.
But these playtests are just...wow. Lots more emotion than I've seen in others. I felt pretty strongly about the magus (still unhappy), but the amount of vitriol and rudeness right now makes me cringe. I don't like quite a bit about the playtest...but that's why Paizo does the playtest. To find these things out, and change them as they deem necessary.
I'm half tempted to defend the design not because I think it's good, but because I don't want, in any way, to be associated with the raving haters out there...
Thanks, Paizo, for doing playtests. I really appreciate that you seek out customer feedback. You are all braver and more gracious than I would be in your circumstances right now.

I too am saddened by the Magus and felt it was the only missing component to the rules. We do not need tons of base classes or even sub classes. I just do not see myself spending any money on the Ultimate books. Any.
Also I would playtest, gladly with my kids, but the vitriol on the threads just do not allow me any well reason to do so. Rather reason not to. Maybe I can playtest and just FB it to Jason instead of the threads. I just do not want to pester him on FB you know?

So tired and I don't know why. I went to bed early last night, got a whole seven hours. I was less tired last week when I was barely getting five hours a night. Grrr.
Also I don't have a good feeling about the day. Took kidlet to the doctor this morning and he was very upset about the change in routine. And then freaked out because parts of the exam meant that he had to be touched in ways he didn't like.(He can be abnormally sensitive to pressure in several areas of his body such as his neck and belly.)And then I had to send him to school right after. And didn't have enough time to stay and help him transition because I was running late for my class too. :/
Also we have to go to super expensive pediatric psychiatrist again because the pediatrician can't prescribe anti-anxiety meds, which aren't usually given to children anyways. But he's going to hurt himself or someone else during one of his panic attacks if we can't find a way to deal with them, so it looks like we'll have to scrape up a couple hundred dollars from somewhere. Insurance not covering treatment for autism really, really sucks. :(
What? They don't cover autism treatments? That is angering and absurd! I am really, very sorry. Ridiculous.

Yes. There are a ton of useful statblocks in there. The book in general was a good read, even if I already knew much of what it was saying. However, the sections on adventure design have some great random tables. Oh, and the book has some treasure tables that supplement those in the core book, if you are into that sort of thing.

+1 to everything save the optimization(although I'm not sure how you optimize- you could do it in a way that's a lot less offensive than the optimization I'm used to).
I generally wait until everyone else has picked a character, then create a character type to fill any "holes" in the group. From there, I make them awesome. :)
I would say I'm an optimizer as opposed to a power gamer. When I want to let my power gamer tendencies go crazy, I pick a character type that is very underpowered so all my optimizing goes toward keeping them from being a drag on the rest of the group, or I make a buffer so doing my job super well just makes everyone else in the party kick butt.

fair enough. They did however have several shows, that could have lasted longer. Yet they have this silly rule as to how many episodes they will cover. This causes things like series sequels such as the Goliath Chronicles to be conceived.
Just because you can make a saved by the bell the new class, does nto mean you should.

I think that you all need to stop hogging all the snow.
I'm planning on going to Rocky Mountain National Park around the end of April and thought I'd check out how much snow they've gotten.
Here is a webcam in Estes Park pointed towards Rocky Mountain NP. Notice that it is January 26th and there is a significant lack of snow on the ground in the foreground.
I'm actually a little nervous about the Front Range this year if we don't get some serious snow fall soon.
