Thanks guys. (Although I'm not sure if I feel "back" yet.)

Welcome back, Moff. :)

Scarab Sages

Huzzah! Moff and his brainnnnsss are back!

taig, glad to hear about some good news on the job front, and I hope that the thing with your daughter is able to be resolved in a good way soon.

If I missed anything else, well, sorry. My brains are mush. Too much studying. I can't for the life of me remember the rest of what I read in the last three pages.

Serious question -- how does one get in on writing for Wayfinder?

Well, I offered to let you snack on them before, but hey, mush can be nutritious too. :)

I give this article a 2 out of 5:

-1 point for being Yahoo News
+1 point for not mentioning the "A" word
-2 points for mentioning the "G" word

I have to give it a 3

+1 for quoting Douglas Adams

the G word??

A would be Atlantis right??

0 =/= 2

Things to put on your list for New Year's Resolutions:

1. Christmas Spirit
2. Math

Meant to put -3 for that last one. My math was: 5 stars - 1 + 1 - 3 = 2 stars.

Just send Liz or Hugo an e-mail message.

A for Atlantis. G for Genesis.

Also, this is entirely off-topic, but is there any way to flag entire threads?

Nope just flag 'em all.

Got to flag 'em all.

True, but, unfortunately, a lot of "news" and "science" websites like to drop biblical names in order to create controversy and site traffic. Which is lamentable, because there's a lot of interesting history that gets painted over in the rush to name-drop something that people will immediately recognize.

Laptop loaned from a friend, I'm kinda sorta back. Did I miss anything of any import?

I have seen that. In this instance I find little fault. I think it would have been preferable if they had mentioned specific instances of extra biblical deluge stories. Specifically if they can mention one that is not the epic of Gilgamesh which is about the only other one the general public may be aware. But you know Yahoo news. can only get so much info from them.

RANT:

Spoiler:
ugh my roommate apparently gets very cranky when he gets hungry. Apparently he gets pissed during winter for lack of activities to do. He complains because I have no preference to do activities. Anything I suggest will get shot down because when I have brought up my interests he goes meh. Apparently he is used to being in a crowd at all times. I on the other hand, I have always been on my own and had to get used to doing things on my own and therefore don't care what others want to do and I usually go with the flow.

Wow! Room mate challenge; I'm not a fan of compromise, but room mate co-existence is all about compromise. We sort it out, or we go separate ways.

Good luck!

On the other hand, I finally watched Inception last night. What a cool movie! I really enjoyed it - kick ass story, good acting, some really cool special effects. I might just have to buy this one on Blu Ray.

I still need to see that one.

We're going to see Voyage of the Dawn Treader this afternoon.

Yes it is. But, you know, for the longest time, I didn't care much for Dicaprio either. However, after having watched his performance in Shutter Island, and then going back and watching Gangs of New York, I've grown to appreciate his abilities as an actor. He really is very good. One of these days, I'll also have to check out The Departed - heard that one was really excellent as well.
