Daryan gives a smile to their host, saying, "Very well, Stanos. Have Venno and Tessa already taken their leave, or did I simply beat them down to breakfast this morning?" He seats himself and begins eating the fruit happily, as most of them are undoubtedly rarities in Osirion.

Sorry, Daryan's post didn't show up on my list of new posts until just now... weird.
"Oh," Stanos replies to Daryan's question offhandedly, though with a growing hint of exasperation, "they are already gone, they just couldn't wait to throw themselves into danger. The reckless fools seem determined to get themselves killed. You will all prove to be more reasonable, I hope; I take the safety of the Pathfinders in my care very seriously."

Shuriken Nekogami |

"I am usually in favor of reasonability as well. i know not to take on challenges that i cannot handle. but that wasn't always the case beforehand." Shuriken smiles as she adjusts the fit of her massive black detached furisode sleeves and adjusts the fit of the elastic drawstrings (or equivalent)
i noticed that daryan and sabine forgot to add thier favored class bonuses, unless thier favored class is secretly something else or retconned thier direction. i know that i plan on an eventual 2 level dip into shadowdancer.

please can you all make sense motive checks?
“Then I am sure that you will go far,” Stanos replies, looking to each of the pathfinders in the room in turn, “it does seem that your current assignment should not prove too dangerous, I have arranged for you to visit the holdings of the Mordhiem family as the guests of Lord Janos, under the guise of potential buyers of the timber produced by one of the family businesses.”
“The heir seems quite willing to allow us access to the family libraries, in exchange for our expertise in uncovering the truth behind mysteries… but you should keep your identities as pathfinders secret; his father would not stand for such a thing.”
Good catch Shuriken. You guys can add the bonuses now if you'd like.

No, her Favoured Class Bonus is there, so I'm not sure what you're seeing? She has 3 Skill Points: 1 into Disable Device, 1 into Perception and 1 into Spellcraft. Sorcerer's normally only have 2 Skill Points to spend.
Sense Motive Check: 1d20 ⇒ 19

Shuriken Nekogami |

sense motive
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Sabine is short a skill point too. if she included her favored class bonus there, she would have 4 in total, 2 for being a sorcerer, + 1 for favored class, + 1 for being human
darn, i can't beleive i rolled so poor on sense motive today. especially when i have been rolling mostly 12+ on the die with my saturday group

As the Pathfinders finish their breakfasts, Lord Vodovani moves over to a cabinet in the corner of the room.
"The Lord Mordhiem is expecting your arrival within the next week, so you needn't leave immediately, but when you are ready I will have a carriage prepared for you." He begins, opening the wooden doors of the cabinet to reveal the shining surfaces of an arsenal of silvered weapons, "It is my hope that your journey will prove uneventful, but should you be assailed by some of the insidious threats that taint this land, you may be required to defend yourselves. To this end, I would like you each to take one of these weapons, specially treated to be effective against some of the terrible creatures that haunt the nights of Ustalav."
The cabinet contains a varied selection of silvered weapons, you can each get a silvered simple or martial weapon of your choice from the Core Rulebook.

Shuriken Nekogami |

are there any custom designed shortswords that have a similar design principle to my own? namely the option to deal slashing or piercing damage with equal effect? i remember you saying that such a weapon would normally cost 5 gold more and weigh a pound heavier than normal. does such a weapon exist within the arsenal?

Sabine Sanguessa |

Sabine smiles a little at what she thought she saw, but says nothing as she finishes her breakfast.
After finishing, she follows him across to the cabinet and her eyes go wide when she sees the array of weaponry before them. At Lord Vodovani's urging, she hesitantly looks over the weapons until she spots the familiar sight of a brightly shining Starknife gleaming in the light. Her hand shakes as she reaches up and grabs the weapon, drawing Sanguinus in her other hand and testing how each stacks up to the other. Forgetting her manners in her awe, she shamefully turns to the Senior Pathfinder and thanks him profusely.

Shuriken: there are only standard shortswords in the cabinet, but you could probably get somebody to alter it for say... 5gp.
Sabine's tests reveal that silver is quite a suboptimal material for weaponsmithing... while the balance is reasonable, it is very poor in comparison to Sanguinus, and the softer metal is just not able to hold as sharp an edge as steel.
"No need for that, my girl," the venture-captain says under the barrage of thanks from Sabine, "I just hope that you don't need to use it."

Shuriken Nekogami |

Shuriken searches the cabinet, looking for a suitable shortsword. she searches for a while, and decides to take a random silver shortsword off the rack. knowing that silver was easily mallable. she thought to herself "I can get this sword altered later" as she smiled at the thought of altering such a weapon. she had plans for a full reforging in her mind.
shuriken plans to get this shortsword reforged as a wakizashi designed for both slashing and piercing equally effectively by paying the difference.

i am still intersted in playing, but i admit that i had to slow myslf down in proprtion to everyone else in this thread.
here is my proposal
give each player who wishes to drop out a chance to drop out. make them announce it in a seperate thread. merge the remaining members from both groups into one new group. we could put the thread in gamer connection.

Daryan Sadotra |

Sorry about that. I haven't had my normal computer, since I dismantled it for spare parts to build my new rig. I somehow forgot to transfer my internet bookmarks though, so it's been taking me a while to get things back in working order. The computer's all good now, though.
Daryan thinks for a while at the cabinet, realizing that if silvered weapons are very important to have in this area, then it would be a good idea to not lose whichever item he takes from here. With a small smile, he lifts out a left-handed spiked gauntlet. "I'll be sure to still have this around when I need it."
I'm also having a bit of trouble remembering what our original quest is now, too. We're investigating a castle, but I can't seem to find the original thread that the full description is in.

Here's the original thread if you want to catch back up.
Summary: The mission is to gain access to the Mordhiem library to find details of a secret escape route that the family used to flee from their ancestral home, and determine whether it is a potential access point for further exploration by the Society.

I'm still interested, although my posting for the next two weeks may become a bit splotchy as I went over my download limit (again) and have been relegated back to Dial Up speeds until the pay cycle ends. :/
So when it can take up to 5 minutes to load a page sometimes, I get frustrated and give up. Means I have to ration things out and do little bits here and there. Sorry.
Sabine looks up from the two weapons at Lord Vodovani. "I hope I don't need to either sir, 'cause whatever I need it for is sure to be a lot tougher than me, that's for sure!

Okay, three's not too bad, we can carry on with this. Do you have any plans before setting out to the Mordhiem Estate?
and see here.

i think i will go straight to the mordheim estate.
i am going to merge my ranks in craft (tailoring) and profession (clothier) since they are the same skill. i only need one skill to make clothes. this will free me up a skill point too. i recently realized these redundancies when i rebrowsed the craft/profession section.

Daryan Sadotra |

Straight there, but I'd like to have a short conversation on the way (which may change our destination momentarily).
After the group takes their leave from the lodge and starts the journey to meet with the Mordhiems, Daryan brings up some things that suddenly occur to him. "Should we be taking a gift of sorts with us? We are visiting a man in poor health, are we not? Or what if things have changed while we were coming here and he is already gone? Should we ask around quickly before we arrive?"
In case we do(Daryan will if anyone agrees with him), Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Or if needed, Knowledge(any but religion): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Not quite done leveling yet.

Bernard interrupts as the would-be Pathfinders take their leave, bowing his head he explains Alexian's absence, "Master Alexian sends his apologies, it seems that he has taken ill. He sends his assurance that he will rejoin you post-haste upon his recovery."
The grounds of the estate are far less unsettling by daylight, the thick tree-line providing the illusion of solitude within the bustling city that is barely audible beyond the grounds. A second, narrower path leads deep into the wooded area behind the manor, while the promised carriage waits near the path that leads back to the gates. A pair of white horses stand before it's polished black frame, while a formally dressed footman waits beside the open doors.
Can anyone make a Knowledge(nobility) roll?

Shuriken Nekogami |

Shuriken enters the carriage, as she enters it and takes a seat in the back next to the window (or equivalent), she pays extreme attention to her surroundings, seemingly out of paranoia. as she rides, her senses are unusually alert.
Perception check (During the ride to notice anything suspicious, inside or out, using any possible senses or cues. no matter how subtle)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Sense Motive Check (During the ride to see what the rider is up to)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
