Awesome!
Loving the pictures. (I regret that I missed the two that were deleted for content, but those are the breaks.)
I hope you enjoy yourself around here and people (myself included) aren't too creepy.
(Really, this is the Internet. It's hard not to be creepy.)
Is it just me, or is she even more gorgeous in this picture? She has my vote to be THE Seoni at all Cons in the future. She can be the Paizo "spokesmodel" at GenCon and beyond every year!

That's not to say it isn't impossible, or that the webmaster isn't simply bored, it just seems unlikely to me that Jenny Poussin is being impersonated by a hacker. What harm would such hacking bring to her? Using a few more megs of bandwidth on her website? Adding a few more friends she didn't want to her Facebook? Two-dozen pics being seen without anyone paying for them? *shrugs*
Now that things have calmed down enough that I won't automatically be accused of stirring the pot...
Why do you assume the harm has to be to Jenny Poussin?
It is a (not so well known, apparently) type of social engineering to lure a large portion of the internet users to a site loaded with exploitive code (not as hard to do as people think, I would link to a project I know of but that might "advocate illegal activities") to "pwn" visiting computers.
IF Jenny Poussin's site had been hacked, it would take very little time to inject this code - and the damage wouldn't be undone simply by the code being removed later.
It is a little depressing that more posters weren't suspicious.
Now as to if that suspicion should be voiced... That is another animal entirely.

Does that fact that I viewed the site source code to check for this make me suspicious or full-blown paranoid? :)

I find it depressing that so many were suspicious and paranoid about Jenny's intentions. It's a shame that we have to look over our shoulders when we make use of the internet.
Oh well, that's the nature of the internet these days.
Welcome to the boards Jenny!

That's really the crux. After 7 years in the IT security arena, and 12 in the general field, I can be as jaded as anyone dealing with spoofs, breaches and hacks all day long.
But, I still believe that decency should trump, and that calling someone out in public, without fact or evidence, continues to be rude, no matter the medium.

Why do you assume the harm has to be to Jenny Poussin?
You raise a valid and informed point. Certainly that AntiVirus XP scamware can be invoked with such ease. However, being as I'd already observed that the links successfully went to jpegs without redirection or any pages that contained code, I dismissed that threat when I replied to Heathy's post. (At least I think that's the post of mine that you're quoting.)
With that in mind, I also looked at the potential harm to people here, and gave my opinion that it was fairly negligible (i.e. bruised egos, a pissed-off wife, etc). If anything, by offering to do a costume commission at my "friend" rate, I'd imagine I would be subject to greater risk than most.
Having assessed the risks to existing Paizonians, I thought it only fair to examine the potential harm to a potentially "impersonated" individual.
Unlike the sock-puppet speculation (which was rightly based on some other recent events here), Jenny Poussin's website stated in no uncertain terms that someone had hacked her account. If someone hacked my accounts, I'd regard that as an attempt to harm me. Most folks would do the same, correct?
Therefore, given that there was already a documented instance of someone attempting to harm Jenny, just consider if your question was turned around 180 degrees:
Why should anyone assume the harm does not have to be directed at someone who is potentially being impersonated?
So there you have the totality of what was going thru my head. Being as there's nothing more I can say to the point, I'd prefer not to derail this thread with a debate. I merely wanted to answer your question to lay the issue to rest. (And no, I don't see your post as an attempt to stir the pot, otherwise I suspect you'd have responded much sooner.)

That was answered earlier, I thought. Because of the rash of sockpuppets with a "too good to be true" appearance, many people were gunshy when someone else made an almost identical entrance. Honestly, the requests for "pics or you're a sockpuppet" are not limited to someone who is a pretty woman. She just happens to have more notoriety because she is a pretty woman, so the requests for proof appear to be more insistent. A thread that some random new person started where he or she showed off fantasy artwork would have (charitably speaking) half the traffic this thread has, but the "pics or you're a sockpuppet" requests would also be there.
There's more to it than just being rude and distrustful, really.

It was answered. But in the glorious words of my grandmother, "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."
Decency would still trump. Funny that.
I guess I just find it highly amusing that people are so bothered that someone would want to pass themselves off as an attractive member of the opposite sex, on the Internet, instead of seeing it for the really pathetic attempt at either humor, or mischieviousness, that it really is.
The fact that people have been doing it online since BBS'es, and people still get riled about it, is even more amusing to me.

Right. I was a luddite for the longest time as I actually do crave my anonmitity most of the time -- and didn't want things to carry over to my RL career world (which became moot last month, but c'est la vie). But given how cyberspace can be an 'unforgiving wife' due to the assumption of what goes on in a virtual atmosphere, I did find that when I followed through with putting up my OTD pic after Thanksgiving and followed through with signing up onto FB after Christmas, the online interaction actually got easier for me. That and posting a lot reflecting my own personality probably helped, too. :D
Anyway, what's done is done. Time for me to spin the Karmic Wheel of Fortune.
Sajak out.

Ahh, the internet: Where men are men, women are men, and children are FBI agents.
:)
Ah, the BBS scene...been there since the late 80's and even worked at CompuServe before the Internet blew-up in the mid-90's and AOL taking it over.

Decency did trump, and the people being decent found out they were being lied to on more than one occasion. So, yeah, they're suspicious now. Funny that.
Paizo prides itself on being a community, and when someone disingenuous enters a community and you find out after extending friendship and confiding in that person that they are a fraud, it hurts and it causes a reaction towards the next person who acts the same way.
Yes, this has been going on since even before the internet (900-numbers, anyone?), but this is a place where people hope to take other people more at face value.
Anyway, at least as far as Jenny is concerned, it's over and done with. Jenny was a true sport about this, and I am glad the community didn't run her off.

Ya, for the next person who is found to be fraudulent.
There's a difference between everyone coming down on someone who "did it again", and claiming someone is guilty by default.
Anyway, at least as far as Jenny is concerned, it's over and done with....
So it is for Jenny, but it's going to be fair game again for the next person? Clearly that seems to be the idea, at least until some undetermined amount of time has passed and the community has 'healed itself'.

And I'm sure it will happen. Having Jenny come on here and take the suspicion in stride will go a long way towards that healing. She has probably had to deal with this in places other than Paizo.
And I misspoke (misposted?)--there was more than one instance of sockpuppetry in close succession in the recent past. If it had been an isolated incident, then it would have been laughed off. When you've got a parade of bands playing the same song, it's hard to believe that the next band is going to play something different.

Hmm. I don't think anyone's used the word 'smurf' on this thread yet, so I shall make this post, using it, to demonstrate a feature of the Paizo boards. Unless you happen to be Kobold Cleaver. He has his very own special smurf, and doesn't get a random smurf like the rest of us.
Edit:
(See the Great Smurf Experiment thread somewhere down in the off topic discussion forum/archive for various foolings around with the word smurf.)

Fair enough.
Sadly, I've had the experience of working close to Law Enforcement and Military who have approached situations in the same vein - to disasterous results, for everyone.
I'm just really sensitive to situations where "someone did x, so similar someone is going to do it to."

I can understand that, especially if you've been a victim of that attitude or seen someone else directly affected by it. I've seen it before at my place of employment. "So and so doesn't really work that hard, and, yeah, he's working hard now, but I just know he's going to return to the way he was. I guess we'll fire him." That happened to a friend of mine.
Sorry, I was just trying to clarify the history behind the suspicion, and address the perception that the only reason people are reacting is because it's a woman in her particular profession. Thanks for bearing with me. :)

Let me add my appreciation for listening, VW. I think I can safely say Taig speaks for many of us on this issue, and it was frustrating feeling misunderstood or being cast as unwelcoming, judging, prude, sexist, American (!?), when in fact you're probably looking at some of the people who are quickest and most consistent when it comes to welcoming new folks to Paizo -- and Jenny responded in a great spirit to the request, as have many just ordinary folks. Or seemingly ordinary. ;)

Lilith? She is awesome; if my paizo toon could start a cult and worship someone; it would be Lilith; she rocks! She is awesome at everythings; turns all to gold; mistress master of everything.
hehe not sure how to point you to her artworks; but her dm tools for npc bank I can point you toward.
Always nice to see more art; lots of great artists here; there is a art thread that has a bunch you can look at; you can search for it; think there is one called; will draw for food; heh joke; think it is really called "will draw your paizo characters" or something like that.

All right, this sock puppet thing is getting too much, time for me to fess up!
I created a number of elaborate fake accounts with alternate personae in order to trick people to perform a number of actions.
The list of fake accounts is:
Kruelaid
The Jade
Moorluck
Tarren DeiAnd, most importantly, I created the fake persona of "James Jacobs" as a "Paizo staffer" to promote my seething hatred of dwarves and provide it with legitimacy. This one went really far, with public appearances and fake articles in Paizo Products.
I know my deeds are unforgivable, but I implore you to temper justice with mercy.
Ok if I am not KaeYoss's sock puppet who's sock puppet am I. I was sure I was created by KaeYoss so he could express his true admiration of Dwarves and maintain his embarrassing love of elves.
