Well, the big IEP meeting thingy was today. There was a distinct lack of organization on their part. The psychologist was confident that Bryce is not on the autism spectrum, but couldn't tell us why he has been exhibiting similar behavior patterns. But she did do a good job of explaining how she had done the testing and why she came to the conclusion she did. The school has pretty much decided that ADHD is the catch-all for what's wrong with him as that is at least sufficient to qualify him for the extra help he needs. I can't really blame them. There is a plan in place now to get extra help in the classroom for him and times when he will get extra sessions on learning how to write and on developing social skills. So it's not like they're not doing exactly what they need to. I'm just frustrated because all of this is treating the symptoms instead of finding and addressing the problem. I still have no idea how to help my son. :(

Wow. This almost exactly mirrors our experience. While I am pretty much loathe to self-diagnose problems, I really feel that you should take a look at the book Sensational Kids. It has really helped us out with our oldest son. They've (begun to) diagnose seriously what is known as Sensor Processing Disorder which I (and others) really believe should have been the diagnosis for things that end up being more of a catch-all.

I'm not saying that there is any kind of "magic medicine" that will help necessarily, but it really helps in understanding and with help from physicians, there are some things that can be done (like some therapy), and may be able to get that IEP.

Good luck and hope that helps.

I'll check into the book. The school is already doing a lot of the sensory diet stuff to try and help him stay calm in the classroom. But it certainly is something I want to get more info about. Thanks.

I just saw an advertisement for the Prince of Persia movie.

Any thoughts?

Got a call from a nurse mgr at the hospital tonite. Apparently my letter to the Director of Nursing about the nurse from hell has a lot of people jumping. It seems that a lot of people didn't do what they were supposed to after the incidents.

I can do more that write up twisted evil demons. I can describe the ones I meet in real life.

It was a gorgeous day today. Took the kidlet to the park. It was nice. It's only a block away and it has pretty new equipment which is very nice. And I liked getting to listen to the bells. (We live next to St Francis church.) :)

Hi guys. Sorry to hear that most of you had an uck day. Mine was more meh. Nothing bad nothing great.

On subject: Kellen's IEP meeting was yesterday. Went great. Sucks to hear that Bryce isn't responding. I had hoped that he would do like Kellen had. Since they were so parallel in attitude.

I am trying to find a summer camp for him. Something physical and science related. The Aquarium has a couple of programs, and there are a couple of away camps. I sent off for more info. And I am looking for something for them now. Like soccer or swimming. Everything is just so stupid expensive.

Know anyone that is a member of a shooting club? My brother got his to sponsor my daughter several years back for summer camp. She had a blast.

I'm glad that Kellen is doing so much better.

I was discouraged about how things went with Bryce's meeting. But I just have to remember that it wasn't totally pointless. We were at least able to rule some things out. The school can't really do any more for us than they already have, so now we have to try and find some other resources. At least the school was able to help us with the super expensive testing.

Good luck with finding a camp. I know what you mean about them being expensive. It seems like most extracurricular activities are.

Coffee = Bleh!

Salad = Yum (as long as it does not contain Tomato or Cucumber...)
+1, except for Ranch dressing. Buttermilk = bleh also.
Ick. Ranch dressing is gross. Any milk based dressing really. Blech.

I am currently eating Ranch Dressing (and Chipotle South West Sauce) on my Subway...

In my defence, even though it has 3 meats and 2 cheeses, it also has a crap load of salad (Lettuce, Capsicum, Onions & Carrot).

heh heh... then you'd love this one then ;)

Unfortunately it has no Chillis. I left the tray out with one left to go and took a phone call and whenI came back the new girl had finished it and put it in the oven. :(

Only thing I follow is the NBA (although I haven't been too involved over the last few years).
My teams are:
LA Lakers (all the way baby!!!)
Boston Celtics
Golden State Warriors

I do however follow the Rugby League over here... my team (Penrith Panthers) won last week, although it was only the first game of the Season, so we'll see how they go from here on out.
