Booyah for self-purchased birthday presents!
I must be tired ... just noticed that AZ got Event Horizon ... one of my favorite sci-fi horror films!

Not sure I'll use the first, but for $1 it was worth it to see the mechanics on some of the more unusual races.
The second one didn't seem that complicated, but then I'm used to 4th ed. Shadowrun's BP build and Karma advancement of PCs on a full 8.5x11 of paper (before gear & cyber/bio/nanoware). Yeah, it's probably not for a beginner. But $1 is pretty cheap for a peek.
I agree. A lot of things are worth a $5 for a peek. I do a lot of peeking around Thanksgiving when a lot of the stuff over at RPGNOW goes for a buck.

It was a nice night to mow here. There were only a few clouds (mostly just vapor trails) and some nearby tree is flowering. Smelled great.

R.E.M. after they signed with Warner is like any Star Wars movie released after 1983. Never happened.

Especially. Ewoks here just a harbinger of the evil madness to come. And the reason Jedi is the weakest of the only three Star Wars movies ever made.

When is Sam Neill NOT creepy and/or sinister? One of my favorite underrated actors.

True! The first time I remember seeing him was in the third Omen movie. Dude was awesome as Damien Thorn. Ever since then I've been a fan.
And, on that note, time to head to work. Later.

I was thinking that when I replied to your last message. I haven't seen the movie, but there's Daybreakers ... and one that I have seen that's Lovecraft inspired: In The Mouth of Madness.

Jurassic Park is the only movie that remotely comes to mind. Of course, he was out-creeped by Goldblum in that one.

In the Mouth of Madness is another great movie. Really twisted. But, have you guys ever seen Attack Force Z? Awesome flick with a very young Sam Neil - came out about a year after the Omen flick.

I never heard of that. I'm going to have to put it on my Netflix queue....

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, Patrick returned to town after a long and mysterious absence, only to run smack dab into the middle of a troll invasion. And in a downtown office building, Derek and Gregg were about to confront Gary over his attempts to erase all of their information from Facebook as part of some insidious scheme to...No, Wait! That's my soap opera.

Like I said, it's an older flick (from 1982). Set during WWII, Sam Neil plays one of a group of (if I remember correctly) Australian commandos who invade an island held by the Japanese to accomplish some mission. Hilarity ensues. It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember it fondly.

So, the opera gig I heard about wasn't actually from the conductor. It was from one of the singers who, I assumed, was contacting me on his behalf. In reality, she had taken it upon herself to try to bring me in, and if I was interesting would pass my name and bio along to the conductor.
She's probably unaware that the last time I spoke with him about working with him sometime, he gave me the cold shoulder and deliberately left off with "Good luck in your future endeavors" (read: "Go <anatomically impossible sex act>"). That said, if he needs tenors (which he probably does) he might be willing to swallow his pride, but I don't know if I feel like dealing with that d-bag.
I'm debating whether to say, "I have a conflict with such-and-such rehearsal, and I'm so busy, and I just don't know" to see what kind of response I get, or whether to say, "Sorry, I'm not going to be able to participate."

Well then, to quote that nameless officer in charge of building Death Star 2 - "We shall redouble out efforts."
