On a happier note: Went to Lowes and bought the new range hood. I also picked up a 3 piece adjustable wrench set for $20. Then, just for s~**s and giggles, I walked over to best Buy and purchased Event Horizen and Dracula on Blu Ray.

Booyah for self-purchased birthday presents!

Which Dracula is on BluRay? Or, as my wife likes to call it, BruRay.

I must be tired ... just noticed that AZ got Event Horizon ... one of my favorite sci-fi horror films!

After reading the description, I'm half tempted to check that out.

Not sure I'll use the first, but for $1 it was worth it to see the mechanics on some of the more unusual races.

The second one didn't seem that complicated, but then I'm used to 4th ed. Shadowrun's BP build and Karma advancement of PCs on a full 8.5x11 of paper (before gear & cyber/bio/nanoware). Yeah, it's probably not for a beginner. But $1 is pretty cheap for a peek.

I agree. A lot of things are worth a $5 for a peek. I do a lot of peeking around Thanksgiving when a lot of the stuff over at RPGNOW goes for a buck.

Yeah, I've been seeing previews of this in the DC titles I regularly buy. It's cool. The world can always use a bit of positive zombie story to counteract all the negative coming out of Hollywood. The prejudice those movie folk have, I tell ya.....

I actually bought my first zombie graphic comic today. On a whim at ... well ... where else.

Did that today as well. ChemLawn did their application for weeding and fertilizing today and I knew there was a storm coming tonight, so I figure ... why not be useful around the house?

Well, that was an awesome gaming session. We managed to turn a tactical advantage into a near TPK (for us) and then came back to decimate our foes. :)

Now I just hope my cough lets up enough for me to get some sleep.

It was a nice night to mow here. There were only a few clouds (mostly just vapor trails) and some nearby tree is flowering. Smelled great.

Especially. Ewoks here just a harbinger of the evil madness to come. And the reason Jedi is the weakest of the only three Star Wars movies ever made.

Been up for at least an hour because I can't sleep post.

Returning to the OTD post

Poo-flinger! Wassup?

Hey fapinator. Just decided to try Taig's solution to my thorny OTD problem. Plus I missed posting up here.

It's right to listen to that badgah. And it's good to see you back; your presence has been missing for some time, sir. I had to *blink* to make sure I wasn't hallucinating from a lack of sleep. :P

Speaking of blinking: Time to wake the daughter unit and head out to school then gym. Sayonara for now!

Yeah, definitely one of the better sci-fi horror flicks ever. Sam Neil was creepy.

When is Sam Neill NOT creepy and/or sinister? One of my favorite underrated actors.

True! The first time I remember seeing him was in the third Omen movie. Dude was awesome as Damien Thorn. Ever since then I've been a fan.

And, on that note, time to head to work. Later.

I was thinking that when I replied to your last message. I haven't seen the movie, but there's Daybreakers ... and one that I have seen that's Lovecraft inspired: In The Mouth of Madness.

Jurassic Park is the only movie that remotely comes to mind. Of course, he was out-creeped by Goldblum in that one.

I always want to sleep for 10 hours. But there's just too much to do and so little time to do it in I usually have to settle for 3-5 hours.

In the Mouth of Madness is another great movie. Really twisted. But, have you guys ever seen Attack Force Z? Awesome flick with a very young Sam Neil - came out about a year after the Omen flick.

Good morning, folks. The monkey is back!

After a week and a day of celebratory posting with my over-the-top alias, I'm going back to my normal identity. Of course, that may change around the 15th...

Like I said, it's an older flick (from 1982). Set during WWII, Sam Neil plays one of a group of (if I remember correctly) Australian commandos who invade an island held by the Japanese to accomplish some mission. Hilarity ensues. It's been years since I've seen it, but I remember it fondly.

Here we go from Wikipedia:

Attack Force Z

I had forgotten it also had a young Mel Gibson.

So, the opera gig I heard about wasn't actually from the conductor. It was from one of the singers who, I assumed, was contacting me on his behalf. In reality, she had taken it upon herself to try to bring me in, and if I was interesting would pass my name and bio along to the conductor.

She's probably unaware that the last time I spoke with him about working with him sometime, he gave me the cold shoulder and deliberately left off with "Good luck in your future endeavors" (read: "Go <anatomically impossible sex act>"). That said, if he needs tenors (which he probably does) he might be willing to swallow his pride, but I don't know if I feel like dealing with that d-bag.

I'm debating whether to say, "I have a conflict with such-and-such rehearsal, and I'm so busy, and I just don't know" to see what kind of response I get, or whether to say, "Sorry, I'm not going to be able to participate."
