Not a bad day.

I hate having to be out camping in those temps.

[sarcasm]Yes, seriously, how could global warming be real when it's cold ... in winter.[/sarcasm]

23 F with a wind chill of 13. That's pretty darn cold for Dallas. At least it didn't get as cold as they were saying it was going to get.

He doesn't even go so far as to claim that the coldness of winter provides counter-evidence to global warming, only that it could if the trend were to continue for an entire year. I don't disagree. If the world got colder over a significant period of time, we might have to rethink 'global warming'. It's January 7th though, so I'm not going to head out to buy an SUV in a desparate attempt to save the planet from "global cooling" just yet.

Lincoln, NE 9 degrees with a wind chill of -19! COLDER next day HIGH OF 0 or lower with wind chills of -22 or lower! Mini ICE AGE!! Predicting anoher storm coming in next week, more snow:( Plus I deliver papers in the morings as a side job, so I am out I the coldest temps and snow.

London is around 0°C right now, and is predicted to be about +4°C next weekend. Probably no snow (which is rare there, anyways), but still cold. The south of the British Isles has rather mild weather, generally speaking. That does not preclude heavy snow now and then, of course.

Buying things in London? The city is the most expensive in Europe AFAIK (followed by Paris and Barcelona), so I´d recommend shopping elsewhere.
Of course, thats only what I´ve heard.

Thanks a lot for the advice! Sounds pretty darn cold, but hopefully should be manageable at least. I'm actually taking an extended holiday and will be working there a little, so hopefully can find a decent job to pay for things. Otherwise I'll move over to a cheaper part of the UK and holiday in cheaper parts of Europe.

In San Diego? Did you guys get so cold where you actually had to wear a jacket?

You´re welcome. I would definitely plan to stay somewhere out of metropolitan London - any kind of accommodation is hellishly expensive there from what I´ve heard.

I´ve only been to Scotland several years ago, and I really don´t know if a visit there is advisable in winter. If you don´t know what wind chill means, I think you can learn it there :-) Probably middle England or the coastal areas are ok in Winter, I´d guess.

Depending on how long you stay, I would advise visiting southern Europe in Spring (March to May, depending where you visit). Spain, Italy, Greece are good to visit in Spring, as everything is green there then and the temperatures quite comfortable. (I had nearly 40°C in Tuscany last May, but that was extraordinary high).

That reminds me of that Drew Carey skit, where the old people in Ohio are outside on the porch with a can of hairspray.

Liberty's Edge

Currently it's only a brisk -7F here is South Dakota, but the windchill brings it down to -29F. And tonight it should get down to -45F with windchill. Needless to say it's coat and hat weather around here.

It's Hawaii, we are surrounded by an ocean. A beautiful, cool, refreshing ocean.

-5f in Clinton, MT right now. Was -16f this morning.

Supposed to be something like -36f with the wind chill, but I don't feel like going out to check.

-9C in Toronto, ON, Canada at the moment so not terrible (it can get down quite a bit more than that)

And some beauty resulting from the cold weather (apologies to the Brits since it comes at your expense, but stiff upper lip and all that, right chaps?

Not very.
