I don't want to comment on the submissions, whether good or bad, and I won't say how many we have had--so don't ask.
But I WILL say this: if you are sitting there thinking we already have a clear top 32 so there is no chance you can make the cut and no reason to submit, then YOU WOULD BE WRONG!
We've gotten some good items, yes, but this thing is still wide open.
So work on those submissions and get them in! You could very well make the cut and advance.
We've always got room for more good submissions.
Come on, do it!

Don't worry - you will get at least one more.
But a lot of people are probably like me: Several items already done, using the time left to revise, get feedback and try and crank out even cooler ideas - not to mention reading and re-reading the threads on the boards to extract every last ounce of useful info.

"Captain, we've taken a hit to the port ego! We're taking on water!"
"Well don't just stand there! Use the <redacted> to <redacted>!"
"It's no good, we're losing self esteem to fast to replace it!"
Seriously, even if they have an awesome item, it can still be killed by another more awesome item. Send 'em in!

No I'm not going to let rejection get me down (if I get rejected). I have my shiny 2009 tag to love and cherish ;-)
This brings up an interesting question for past Superstar participants that placed in the Top 32 or Top 16 but not in the Top 8. Will they get another tag exercising this particular bragging right? ^_^
And another entry for the mind-rending pile of submissions I am sure the judges are going to endure for the two and a half weeks between the deadline and announcing the 32 winners.
This should be an interesting year indeed.

If you're asking how we'll tag somebody who has made the Top 32 or better in more than one year, the answer is... we'll figure that out when it comes up. :-)
