Your turn guys

Sorry, no map update yet. Corel crack is not working yet...

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian curses as he hears his bolt hit something on the opposite side of the room, then decides to get in close. He climbs on the Ghoulette table and summons negative energy in his palm, then attempts to place his hand on the cronie within his reach, drawing the warmth of life from his foe (flanking Chill Touch attack against T4).

Could you apply corresponding numbering to the bouncer tokens the next time you update the map, if it's not too much of a pain? I'm having a bit of trouble following what's happening to them, mostly because I'm having to cross-reference against who's doing it to them in order to figure out where each of them is.

Galahd continues maneuvering for position, getting his back to the wall and placing the thief directly between him and the blinded bouncer. When an opening presents itself, he attacks with a ballestra, making a quick hop forward while lunging with the rapier.

  • Move: 5' step to left (note, however, that Bouncer6 does not provide flank due to blinded condition)
  • Attack: rapier vs T3, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16, inflicting 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 piercing damage if this hits

| . . . .
]G. . . .
| .T. . .
. . .B. .

In an attempt to clarify, the local relative positions should be something like this after Galahd's actions (use periods from right to line up grid...shame on Paizo for not providing standard BBCode "code" tag to enable monospace).

Although I think it is (just barely) reasonable for Galahd to be wearing his armor, rapier, and dagger to the tournament, I also believe it's a bit much to suggest that he was also carrying his light hammer and, especially, short bow with quiver of arrows (both these and his normal backpack gear would be stashed in his rented room).

Presuming he dispatches the thief in front of him soon, the relative lack of available ranged weapons may quickly become relevant. As such, I'd really like to have him look the thief over for signs of more weapons, especially ones that can be used ranged.

If scanning his opponent for other weapons requires an action of some sort, please tell me which kind of action would be required so that I can appropriately plan what he'll do next round.

Thanks!

Calinder moves 1 square east and engages T4 in melee. That'll be enough of that, how well do you think you'll do when someone can see you coming Calinder says to the thief swaggering over the unconscious guard.

Lecian's blind attack lands, his hand crackling with chilling arcane energy, grabs the thief's right buttock. He yelps in surprise as the cold runs through his body, numbing his side. He manages to focus his vision and see where he stands

Urza holds his back against the door, the dart still embedded in his shoulder as he hears Liry running upstairs to get help, his vision starts coming back.

Galadhd´s rapier dances in again under the thieves defenses and cleanly skewers him to the floor. A cursory glance shows him that he doesn't seem to have anything but the sap and a shortsword. The blinded bouncer, on the other hand has a heavy crossbow slung across his back

Calinder's slashes are deflected by the thief, cutting only part of his cloack.

The Sandpoint native grips his crossbow tightly and hisses a quick incantation, pointing at the black-robed man. Lecian fires a bolt of energy from his fingertips.

Urza tries to focus his sight, seeing only blurred forms. He hears the screams and sounds of battle behind the door he is holding. After a moment he can clearly see the terrified look of the kitchen staff. His vision is back.

The Dawnflower herself seems to guide Calinder's blade as he slashes across the thief who is still numb from Lecian's touch and unable to dodge the deadly blow that opens him from shoulder to hip. He falls bleeding to the floor. Some of the patrons panic as they get splashed by blood and they run for the doors.

The huge prize chest has been reduced to something easily carried on one hand, and the wizard in black seems intent on doing just that, but as he bends to grab it he is hit square in the chest by Lecian's force missile, the concussive force almost knocking him off his feet.

Well, hopefully today the map will be back online at last!

flourishing his sword, Calinder moves to confront the robed man stealing the treasury. I think it would be best if you put that down before you hurt yourself, he indicates at the robed bandit.

move 2 squares E and 1 square diagonal NE. I'm assuming this is a double move due to difficult ground but if I've miscalculated let me know and he'll do an attack on green B.

Many apologies for the delay. Also, the comment above about difficult terrain makes me realize that I would have had to run last round in order to be in my current position. Since noone attacked me, it doesn't really make a difference.

Galahd wades through the crowd of blinded patrons towards the black-robed man.

While Calinder and Galahd close in on the wizard, Lecian's bolt hits the woman squarely on the chest, inflicting a serious wound. DM Pol, I'm going to be away till the 9th and without internet access so can you please DMPC my character for me.

Grand Lodge

Pol, are we waiting for Calinder to return?

Ok, guys, let's try to get this moving again, please, no more ooc comments on the GAME board, use the DISCUSSION thread.

The black cloacked wizard tries to wrestle the reduced chest from Calinder but he only manages to trip over a scared patron and fall on his backside. Urza's fierce threat and the loss of their treasure convince the wounded couple to give up, they throw their crossbows to the floor and raise their hands.

It all happened in less than half a minute, the patrons of the casino are just realizing that you stopped the robbery. Someone starts clapping, someone else joins and in a moment all the patrons of the Golden Goblin are cheering to the heroes of the day.

The barmaids are helping the wounded bouncers, while the remaining one tie securely the hands of the beaten criminals.

Vankaskerkin comes striding, up close you can see he is a short, stocky man on his forties, he smiles and approaches you.

You've saved the night, and my casino! You are truly heroes! Thank you, thank you!

Before the Female robber, Male robber, and Black robed man are taken away I will relieve them of any items of value and especially those items with a magical aura.

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian puts away his weapon and hops off the table. He walks over to nearest cronie and begins searching his pockets for anything.

While you help reduce and tie the thiefs, you thourghly strip them of any valuables. One of the bouncer takes back the reduce chest from Calinder. Now that the action is over, Calinder looks strangely detached, as if all of him weren't there..

Searching the thieves you find:
5 x Leather armor
10 x daggers
5 x sap
32gp in house chips.

The couple had:
2 x Masterwork leather armor
2 x Rapier
2 x Light crossbow
19 bolts in two quivers
39gp in house chips

The wizard had:
1 x Wand of magic missiles lvl1, 14 charges left
1 x Bracers of armor +1
33gp in house chips

I assume that the party arcanists will eventually identify the items without much trouble. You also earn 1750xp to split amongst all of you.

After you finish reducing and tying them, you hear the Gendarmes (what passes for law enforcement in Riddleport arriving.

Vancaskerkin is busy dealing with angry patrons, who demand their tournament money reinbursed.

A Gendarme officer approaches. He is portly guy, standing almost 6ft tall, with a red bulb of a nose.

"Hello, I'm sous-brigadier Janos, I wanted to thank you for stopping this rabble's heist"

Grand Lodge

"It was just our duty, sir."

Sorry, Mister Vankaskerkin, I zoned out there for a minute. It was indeed our pleasure to help you out in a time of need sir. You could say the Dawnflower herself was guiding my hand. I trust you'll assert that there is nothing missing from the generous prize pool we have recovered. He says before making a flourishing bow in the Qadiran manner to both men.

Take 10 on Diplomacy = 15

Vancaskerkin seems impresed with Calinder's politeness and relieved that the treasure is safely taken to the vault, but the angry patrons are protesting. Now that they aren't in danger anymore they are feeling cheated by the abrupt finish of the tournament.

In the end, the short enterpeneur stands on the middle dais and shouts to the crowd.

"People, people! Calm down please! I'm very sorry for the nights events, this tournament has to be suspended but everyone of you can cash in his chips at 110% of its value. The Golden Goblin will soon reopen and we expect to see you as honored guests."

The crowd is still angry and grumbling, but most admit that a 110% change is better than they would have gotten unless they won the tournament.

A few minutes later, the patrons are starting to leave, the Gendarmes taking in the criminals and the wounded bouncers.

Most of the remaining bouncers and staff resign, saying that the miserable pay doesn't compensate the dangers.

Saul Vancaskerkin approaches you, the man is almost surely ruined by the turn of events, but somehow he seems to keep
a glint of hope in his charming smile.

"Boys!" He says to you "I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for you saving my treasure. The debts I'm in
would have put me in a dire situation had that chest been stolen! Please stay, I have matters I would like to discuss with you"
and he waves towards his private office.

You honour us with your paise sir, please lead the way, Calinder says dutifully and then follows Vankaskerkin.

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian quietly follows the other into Saul's office.

While the few remaining employees continue cleaning the main room, Saul closes his office door.

Opening an ornate cabinet in his office, he pulls a cristal bottle with an amber liquid and small glasses for everyone. He serves one shot for each one while explaining "Chelaxian fire, I had the luck to run into a shipment of the GOOD stuff" "First, I want to propose a toast, to the fine warriors who saved the night!"

After the toast he produces a series of vials filled with a clear blue liquid from a hidden compartment in his cabinet. Here, this is for you all.

A potion of CLW for each one of you

Vancaskerkin settles into his confortable chair.. "I also want you to know that your chips will be cashed at 150% value, the least I could do"

"You know, I'd be lost if you hadn't intervened. I recognize this louts, they are swords (or wands) for hire, they have been around the place sniffing but I tought that I was out of that world.

You see, I haven't been always been an honest enterpeneur. I'm ashamed to say that my earlier life was of crime and deceit. Far for being profitable, that cost me my wife's life, my two kids left and I lost my left hand.

Now I'm back in town, with the few coins I managed to scarpe and borrow and I bought this place. All my savings went into refurbishing it and now this was my last gamble...

But all is not lost, I was going to crawl back to that slime Zincher and beg for his "protection", a costly service.. but I have a better idea. I need your help, I'll tell you that up front. Please stay, you would be my partners in this enterpeneur, I'll pay you 10gp per week, plus a cut of the Goblin's weekly profit. I smell that you are destined for great things..

If you help me as bouncers, croupiers, greeters, public relations or whatever business will be even smoother, but what I really want for you is your aid as consultants, representatives and bodyguards. Stories fly, and no one is going to attempt to be foolish with the likes of you around.

You'd only need to be on the floor on weekend nights, when we are most busy. You will have confortably and free lodging and you can dine with me and the staff every day."

With his most genial smile, Saul finishes.

"What do you say? Interested?"

Taking the tiniest of sips during the toast Calinder thinks back to all the lectures he'd been given by Kayair about the dangers of strong drink and the evidence he'd seen all his life in the streets of Riddleport.

With a start he's back to the conversation with Vancaskerkin, concentrating on every word, delighted that this opportunity has presented itself. Sir, your terms seem most generous and I could certainly use the coin. It's a deal as far as I'm concerned.
