For those of you who follow the international news, you may have heard of the recent flooding that has occurred in the Philippines, which as of last count has claimed the lives of over a hundred people (men, women, old, young) and rendering thousands homeless.

Flood waters which reached up to the ceiling of the first floor of our house and took out most of my game books but we are safe. All things considered, it seemed like a fair trade, don't you agree?

Wow. I'm glad that you and yours are okay.

That does kind of put things in perspective.

I wish there was something more I could say other than to wish you well with getting through this time.

I did recall that you were from the Philippines when I read the article this morning, and I did wonder if it was in an area where you were. I'm happy to hear that you are safe and mostly intact.

Radavael, I'm sorry for your loses, but very glad that you and yours are safe.

Liberty's Edge

Me too.

That's a healthy attitude. Gaming books, for all that we love them, are still things, most of which can be replaced.

I'm happy to hear you're alright, and I'm sorry about your books. It's easy to say they're only things, but I know how frustrated and hurt I'd be if my own collection were lost.

I too am sorry to hear about your books. But, OTOH, at least you and your family are safe! Please take care of yourself!

I'm happy to hear that you are safe too. Yes, the books are a fair trade for your life.

Hey man, I don't have a crazy huge library, but have been thinking about lightening my load recently. If there's anything on your list that you really hated seeing go, shoot me an email and I might be able to hook you up.

Plus I have several spare Dragon Magazines and a few Dungeon Magazine. I too would be willing to ship them your way.

Or post it here, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of folks willing to help out. I know I will.

When the waters recede, put up an address! I'll send a book or two.

Wow, that does put things in perspective. Glad to hear you're ok.

When you get the time, put up a list of what you lost, and I'm sure the community can help you replace at least some of it.

Glad you're okay, Radavel.

Liberty's Edge

Glad you're safe Rad.

Very sad to hear about the floods ... some sad stories there.

Dark Archive

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your kind words.

Sorry to hear about your flooding out Rad. Hopefully we can get you restocked with Pathfinder at least. Anyone have a handy Paypal account we could throw a few dollars into, get our most prolific PbPer back to speed?

Glad your safe, items can be replaced after all. Glad you and yours got out ok

I'm so glad you and yours are OK, and if I can help with the re-stock, drop me an email.

Dark Archive

I'm happy to hear your safe pare.

I'm looking into the situation of friends and family over there as well.

Wow, water up to the ceiling. I'm glad to hear you're OK.

That is what I call severe flooding... Glad you are okay!

I cant say that I know you or have even talked to you on the boards but I will be happy to help replace some of your game books. At a time like this little things can help restore a sense of normalcy. Good luck to you.

Glad you're all safe, but are you amongst the homeless, or is the house still structurally okay?

Sovereign Court

Make sure you stay safe, I know with flooding that severe casualties can happen even after the initial flooding (including building collapses etc.) I can spare some of my 3.5 stuff, considering I was upset when my pathfinder #1 got damaged during tropical storm fey, I can only begin to imagine what it would be like to loose your house and most of your gaming material so I'll gladly part with some of my books.

Wow.
I didn't realize you lived in the Phillipines. I am happy that you and your family are safe! It's terrible to go through such disasters, but making it through with what's really important (and irreplaceable) make it somewhat more bearable I hope.

Thanks pre. My family was not among the hardest hit. Children are lining up the streets asking for food. They lost everything.

Fortunately, not homeless and the house is still sound.

Have not been able to assess yet the extent of the loss as most of the first floor is still under a lot of mud.

The Exchange

Glad you are still OK, Radavel.

Well, having dealt with complete flooding of my grandmothers house during TS fay I can tell you some things to expect, the framework may be structurally sound, and thus you won't loose the house, but you'll need to tear out all the drywall, insulation, and most likely flooring on your first floor, spray the wood frame to kill the mold, all the furniture and fixtures that aren't made of metal alone will need to be replaced, I'm not gonna lie or sugar coat it, you have a hell of a lot to deal with even after you get the mud out. I wish you the best of luck, but don't worry, your loved ones are safe that's all that matters. It may have taken a year and a half but my grandma's home is back to normal now and in fact better than before. So good luck, keep faith, and just look to your family when things get seriously stressful and remember what could have happened and things won't seem as bad.

We need a lot of prayers!!! Please read this!!!

Oh, my. Prayers going your way. I sincerely hope that storm doesn't develop as predicted.

Dark Archive

S##+ Rad, that's no good. I'm glad you didn't suffer any more damage than you did, and I hope you are not hit too hard by what looks to be coming...

Dark Archive

Just praying that it would pass the country altogether.

Well that would be good :)

And to think we're almost finished cleaning up and this thing comes along....

Radavel wrote:

That does not look at all good ... combined rainfall and REALLY high-strength winds (175 - 210 kph?!) from such a monstrosity ...

Radavel, we hope that you, your family and your community make it through this storm alive and well!

Radavel wrote:

Yeah, talk about a one-two punch. My thoughts and prayers are with you bro, stay safe!

Radavel wrote:

Wow. Thoughts and prayers to you all. Wow.

Sovereign Court

Okay Rad, that does suck, stay safe and secure, does your area have storm shelters like FL does, all I could think of when reading this was a few years back when FL got hit with 3 hurricanes in a year, I pray that you don't get the storm and that if you do it doesn't cause any more destruction. But the most important thing is that you and yours stay in a safe secure building.

I'm just worried cause it sounds like any building that would have been squat and sturdy enough to deal with this storm is underwater from the last storm. But I'm sure there's somewhere safe you can go, like the mainland :), sorry if it's too soon for humor, I hope it isn't, humor is how I deal with crappyness.

Stay safe, man.

Good luck, Radavel. Here's hoping the storm rolls a natural 1.
If you survive the storm, I could spare a few gaming books, if you like.

Wow, that is one heck of a storm .... and that area is really having bad luck, too. Typhoons, earthquakes, tsunamis ....

Prayers for your safety are being said at this very moment, good sir!

Sovereign Court

Thoughts and prayers to you and your family, Rad.

Having been through any number of hurricanes, I feel for you, man. Keep an eye on that thing that's coming, and don't be afraid to head for higher ground - your safety and your family's always takes precedence over "stuff."

Best of luck.
