Rennik Ilzander |

Rennik looks at the barrels. Is there anything in the goo this time, or anything notable?
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23, Arcana 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21.
Do we have to wait for an extended rest to level up? Also, by my count we got a milestone for that encounter, so people might want to note that.

Each barrel filled with 25 control eggs. Each egg is moderatly magical.
I'm not gonna make you rest, I'll leave that up to the group.
I have to write up some intros to intrduce the new guys now, be back in a while.

Malick |

I'll start updating Malick shortly. Would you mind if I swapped out his weapon for a straight up +3 halberd? I'm OK if you'd rather I didn't.
Malick ambles over to the elf, halberd kicking up sparks as he drags it behind him.
"Nice work Ferdinand. You good to talk yet, ma'am? Got a few questions to ask you."

You can pick a weapon of equal or lesser value if you want.

Basic intro stuff: The Great War that has been waged for hundreds of years has come to an abrupt stop less than a week ago with the destruction of the nation of Cyre.
A grey mist rushed out from Cyre’s center and stopped at its borders killing the nation and all living things inside its borders.
Rumors abound telling of misshapen undead roaming the landscape, entire battle fields of soldiers lying undisturbed and un-decayed as if both sides of the battle had just laid down for a nap. Even more fanciful tales are told ever day some blatantly false and others with an eerie ring of truth.
As you investigate you find that hundreds of the living golems have wandered off and abandoned their posts. Trailing a few you follow them down to the water front where they walk to the southern end of the dock and then into the river. You delay one of the warforged and interrogate it to find that they are acting on some kind of compulsion to head for the Mournland.
Feeling an evil hand in their behavior you ‘commandeer’ a boat and head south with every intent of entering the Mournland and put a stop whatever evil is causing their migration. Along the way you joined up with a band of mercenaries being led by a paladin of the Silver Flame named Ragna who were also heading into the Mournland.
A couple of months into your assignment a small company of Breelander agents broke into the keep where Jassolen was being kept and kidnapped him and made off in a flying skiff killing all of the guards except for you.
The years passed with you seeing action in Cyre and Breeland but only a few days before the ‘day of Mourning’ did you find any information about the group that kidnapped High-Inquisitor Jassolen and killed your friends. You petitioned your order for a company of men and supplies to avenge the wrongs done against you and Aundair. Your petition was approved and the men to put under your command but then the ‘Mourning occurred and the army high command ordered the company assigned to you to stand down until the situation could be assessed. As a paladin of the Silver Flame you aren’t bound by orders of the army so you decided to locate the Breelander agents on your own. Gathering a band of mercenaries you set forth from Flamekeep to the Mournland.
Along the way you meet up with a scruffy paladin of Dol-Arrah looking into what he claimed was the evil influencing the warforged.

Thanks :) I'll get it sorted out now.

Ferdinand Salatic |

"Well, I'll leave you two lovebirds to talk. I'll go take a look at whatever's marching out there. Aureon knows things can't possibly get any worse." With that, Ferdinand walks over to the warehouse's doors and slowly peeks outside.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
EDIT: Before taking a look outside...
"Anyone feel like donating some energy for the cause?"
Two more healing surges people, time to pay up.

Malick |

"I'm not sure she's really my style, but you never know. Sometimes the best relationships start from trying to kill each other. See if there's any food will you Ferdinand, I'll be along sometime."
Malick cheerfully ties the elf's hands behind her back and sits down to enjoy a little chat with her.
"Just binding up those hands as a precaution sweetheart. How about you tell me what's going on here?"

You see an army of warforged and mecanical beetles marching off to the northwest about 300 yards in the distance.
The land rises into a hilly scrubland to the north and decends into a marshland to the south. A strong wind is blowing westward.

The elf glares at Malick and swears at him in Aerenal. After her tirade she says, "Do what want to me nothing can stop the Queen now. The world will soon bow down to the dragon below."

Malick |

"That's the kind of invitation I like. Tell me about the Queen while I decide if we're going to play nice or I'm just going to ask Typhus if he's feeling blasty."
Malick's smile turns a little menacing.
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30 - intimidate
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 - history to see if "dragon below" triggers anything for him.

History check - Thousands of years ago during the daelkyr invasion the beliefs of the invading aberrants merged with the beliefs of the enslaved peoples resulting in cults that worship the daelkyr lords and seek to reopen the connection between Xorait and Eberron ushering in a new age of madness.
“The Queen servants implanted a command into the creation forges to summon the created to her when the stars correctly aligned signaling the beginning of the great disaster.” “She bent the chaos spawn to her will allowing her to enslave her enemies to her will adding to her ever growing army.” “First she will enslave the human nations then conquer Xen’drik and open the door to madness itself.”

Malick |

"You think so? Don't reckon Blondie needed to go to that much trouble to kill us. Could have done it long since. Been nice chatting. Got a Queen to visit."
There is a sold thump as Malick knocks out the elf.
"Best shift out, gentlemen. Seems Blondie's on the move along with an army. Reckon we may want to tag along, see where they go, that kind of thing."

The supplies contain a week’s worth of food and water and a healing kit.
Buried amongst the supplies are; a large leather-bound book written in Draconic, a grayish-silver opaque crystal ball 4 inches in diameter and a silver amulet that is a match to Ruing’s.
There is also a map of Khorvaire with the locations of the farmhouse the warehouse and a location deep inside the Talenta plains marked on it.
Off the elf you find; a wand carved out of a dragon’s tooth (Master’s wand of cloud of daggers +3) and a magic cloak (Cloak of arachnida +3).

Can Uriel and I see the group of non-warforged around the warehouse?
"Uriel, what do you make of that sight?"
The warehouse is unguarded and there isn't any non-warforged outside of it.
Give me a perception check though.Anything in the book? Malick speaks Draconic.
The book is full of rituals. There is also a scrap of paper being used as a bookmark that reads 'passage to the temple'.[/ooc]

Uriel absently scratches his chin as he studies the marching warforged. Looking at Ragna, he gives a slight grin and says "Whatever it is, it's probably not a good thing...", scenting the air around him with the smell of cheap booze.
Perception Check 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34

Uriel De'Mar |

"Do you think, it is who we have been looking for in this forsaken land? Waiting seems like a wise course."
Assuming that Ragnar told me why he's out here
"Possibly", replies Uriel as he continues to watch the warehouse, "although I'm more then willing to help you find the men you're lookin' fer, it's the Warforged that I'm after."
With that Uriel takes a swig of his wineskin, savoring the cheap red wine as if it was of the finest vintage. With a flinty smile he offers Ragna a drink and continues to watch the warehouse.

Ragna |

Ragna declines the offered drink, "I say if the people down there come out, we confront them directly, and ask them to state their business. I am tired of this land and this chase. If they are not who we are looking for, it would be best to see if we can travel with them, there is safety in numbers."

"You just said two of my favorite words, 'safety' and 'numbers'", whispers Uriel with a grin. "I agree though, let's continue to watch, I can always follow the warforged later...I mean how hard iz'it to track some three hundred warforged in marching order?"
With that Uriel takes another judicious swig from his wineskin.

Rennik Ilzander |

"With a little more time, I'm sure I can make use of these rituals."
What page is being bookmarked with the note?
Once he has examined the bookmarked page, Rennik stuffs the book into one of the numerous pockets of his robes, where it seems to take up no space at all.
Was my arcana check sufficient to identify the magic items we found? If not, maybe Ferdinand could take a look, too.

Ferdinand Salatic |

"Well, if you want to catch up with her army, I suggest we leave now, before it marches away."
Ferdinand picks up the second pendant. "I'm guessing I'll be holding onto this one too? Hopefully this one won't start talking to me too."
Wait, did anyone else take Ruing's amulet from me earlier, or do I still have it in a pocket?
EDIT: Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19

Rennik Ilzander |

Indeed. We still don't know what the crystal ball is, but the wand and cloak are identified for anybody that can make use of them. If not, I will add them to the group loot.
Edit: And Ferdinand disenchanting is alright too. Rennik is an orb wizard, so he has no use for a wand. Not sure about Typhus. Just let me know what's left over if we're keeping any bits to sell.

Linked portal.

The cyrstal ball is a House Sivis speaking stone. Only a person with a dragonmark can use it. The amulet is an exact match to the one you alraedy have, it acts as a key and star map.
Ferdinand you didn't see anything unusual.
