I used to play Palladium Fantasy RPG years ago, and that too was abbreviated as PFRPG. So is there any sort of legal condsidaration for paizo to consider when refering Pathfinder RPG as PFRPG?
There's no legal consideration to worry about, really, since I'm pretty sure that PFRPG isn't really trademarked, is it? If it's just an abbreviation that gamers adopted and then became commonplace it's not really a trademark...
But PFRPG does confuse things for the older gamer group. It's also not really accurate, since "Pathfinder" is one word, after all.
Here at Paizo, I'm pretty sure we're settling on PRPG as the official in-house abbreviation. Although in print we're always going to be spelling it out in full: "Pathfinder Roleplaying Game" or "Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook."

Yeah.... I see what you're saying.
Roleplaying does not seem to be hyphenated.James- just a curiosity. What style do you adhere to at PAIZO? There are many.
At work we still use A.P.Style and its a bit of a drag at times. Again, just a curiosity?

It's Kevin Siembieda; I would explicitly ask, just to be certain. Check with Lisa about why. ;)

This is funny, I saw in the admin threads on the Pathfinder wiki they had this discussion and decided on PFRPG some time back. I actually like that better; PRPG is as "overloaded" as PFRPG (more so, as there's a lot of RPGs that are one word "P" games).
In fact, if you google PRPG you get 633k random results (few RPG related, just other stuff), and with PFRPG only 220k - an excellent reason to stick with the more unique spelling.

Honestly, letting the fan base decide and work out what abbreviation works better for them is the way to go. We'll adopt in casual talk like these messageboards the abbreviation that takes on more traction, which is why PFRPG might end up being the one.
It's not a decision we at Paizo care to make. Again, whenever we talk about these games in print, we spell things out.
