Will you have your own personal Modron to carry your books?

Nope, but the school who just mailed me will give me a full ride scholarship if I get a 157 on the test.

Has anyone noticed that the Recent Messages sidebar is about message behind with this thread?

There are so many things this could be about. Hmmm. Oh, my! I could swear I see the words "Sharoth", "forklift" and "petunias" in there. I'm not sure what that means, though.

Some days, no matter how much time, effort, and preparation I have put into it to make it otherwise, people make me the mean ol' professor. Sigh.

Dev, sure thing, if you could just please remind me what it was that I sent you? :D

More insanity from David Fryer

As for hubby's rant, he is just frustrated over finances. :\

Isn't that the guy in the Billy & Mandy cartoon?

Uncertain - when my system took a nosedive, my attention was diverted elsewhere. All I know is your post wasn't there when I was able to log back in.

No worries - it mustn't have been too important ;)

You're thinking of Nergal.

I loved that cartoon. I watched it with my kids a lot.

Yeah, Urgal are from Eragon.

Okay, help me with either advice or paranoia warnings. No one has ever responded to Mona and Cosmo's Mama. Cosmo posted nearby in the same thread, but without interaction. I so want to be my usual funny self, but maybe that's a sign that it's not funny to Cosmo. Thoughts?

And am I sick of proctoring? Yes, yes I am.

Don't worry Mairkurion. You're still delicious. And apparently you have 20% less sodium and fat than other leading brands. puts Mairkurion into miso soup and lets him steep for flavor

David:

Spoiler:
I think I understand what you saying, but I'm not sure the underlying tone in de Tocqeville's quotes is helpful to your position, especially that last one.

{much more personal reasoning stuff deleted}

The issue is highly contentious and provokes passionate responses on both sides. This is one of those times when I wish I had much stronger and dispassionate oratory/writing skills, but I too often find my skills lacking. It doesn't help the discussion when some comments (including at least one of mine) can be taken as inflammatory, dismissive, or trolling because of the impersonal nature of writing on the Internet.

Afternoon all. Hope everyone is well.

I think I am going to do an early New Year's Resolution and stay away from non-gaming topics on this forum. The tone seems to be drifting downwards lately, or maybe I am just kinda peeved in Real Life and I am letting my frustrations bleed over here.

Besides, no one likes a Libertarian. Too liberal for the Republicans, to conservative for the Democrats ...

I've been getting more vocal about the Libertarian mindest locally. It's been surprisingly positive.

Nuttin' but luvs for the monkey, though.

How'd the job attempt go?????

Naw, this thread is like a virtual koffee klatch. I just hope the politics/religion/playtests/edition wars will not grace the pages here.

We'd miss you.

I'm starting to wish the off-topic boards were split into separate sub-forums to separate the contentiousness from the random and/or silly banter.

I found some good info from a job place. I have a meeting wednesday and I got the business card of a lady who specializes in finding veterans jobs, so I am confident. As for an actual job ...

*crickets*

EDIT: Anyone noticing the board acting funky?

Yeah, a Religion/Politics/rant forum would be nice. Then I could close it down like I did the 4th Edition forum and just not see it anymore.

I enjoy my funny threads too much to close up the OTD forum. I'm just sick of the extremists on either side of (any) debate.

Heh. Paizo really clamped down on 4e threadcrapping a while back. It's now a downright sleepy forum that only gets a few random rules questions here and there (although the Christmas layoffs thread has produced some activity).

But I don't blame you for closing stuff. I've closed the playtest threads myself.

With the current state of the economy on top of the usual Holidays stress, I think most everyone is feeling it. We all argue passionately, but nearly everyone seems to want what is best for the Country, their friends, and their family.

You've got a lot of much more important RL issues that you are dealing with too, so I certainly understand getting tired of all the arguing on the boards. I really hope it gets better for you and your family soon. :)

FWIW, I think the true Libertarians have a lot of good ideas.

Yeah, but I always felt the need to jump in and defend the 4E folks, and it just got my blood pumping when the senseless threadcrapping and flaming would ramp up. Then I thought: 'I'm never going to play this system anyway, why not shut it down and not bother anymore?' And my blood pressure went down immediately.

I am glad it has become sleepy and quiet though LOL ...

Hubby is home. And making brownies. Nothing like a lil chocolate to help you relax. :D

You know, I think that this thread is by far the best OTDT. We have managed to take quite a few very different individuals and we are civil and friendly and for the most part open and honest without hurtng feelings. (besides the occasional slip or misunderstandings)
Just sayin'---we rock. ;)

Yeah. I mean, all of this as a monument to Izackx (however spelled), and even CB could come back if he'd just apologize.
