Yaha!
I found some perfect examples where I paid my insurance late in the past in the exact same fashion and my coverage was not interrupted.
And the letter I was remembering from my insurance agent was not about cancellation after all - it was telling me that my policy was due to be RENEWED, and I should talk to them if I want to make changes.
That means the only notification they sent me was the same angry letter I always get when I'm behind on a payment, nothing else. (Up until they sent my payment back, which is when I knew something was wrong.)
Now I'm just waiting for the agent to call me back.

I'm available now if you are still here.
That really sounds like the swine flu at its almost worst. :(
I'm not sure if I got a super-mild case of it this summer or not. I got a runny nose and scratchy throat for two days after sitting next to some sneezing, coughing people on a plane.
I would have just dismissed it as a cold, but last week, I was sitting on a bus for 5 hours with 3 guys near me who were coughing, sneezing, and obviously very sick, and I didn't catch it somehow, even though I must have spent the trip in a cloud of their aerosol mucus. =P So I'm wondering if I had a very mild form and was demonstrating immunity there ....

Well, since Wisconsin has similar weather to Michigan, I can answer that. Yes. Yes it gets cold up north. And we do get lots of snow in the winter. Northern wisconsin gets more than the middle of Michigan though.

Thanks! I like snow! We don't get any snow here.

There was the Russian chick who went by Lady Flash for awhile and Jesse Quick, who filled in for Wally for a bit, and really filled out the Flash costume well if I do say so.

Lady Flash (Christina Alexandrova - thank you Google for her last name I could not remember for the life of me!) was OK...
but
Jesse Quick... mmmmmm...
(and there was always Lia Nelson from the Tangent Universe...)

Yes, it is very cold and snowy here in the winter. In fact, I live in what's known as the "Lake Superior Snow Belt." ;) Things usually aren't too bad, as long as you overlook the 9" snow showers, and the 36" blizzard that's been ending every winter for the past three years (and no, I'm not kidding about that last part).

Hmm. So my insurance agent was actually very helpful. And here I was ready for a fight.
Travelers agreed to reinstate my insurance policy, if I just pay them the prorated premium amount from the cancellation date through now (which is reasonable). Now I wish I hadn't signed with Geico, because I'm going to have to cancel the new policy, and they're probably going to smack me with a fee. At least I don't have to worry about the DMV.

Hooray fellow snowbelter! I looked it up and apparently the Lake Superior snowbelt gets about the same amount of snow we get in the Lake Ontario snowbelt.
So does it depress you, too, to think about the coming shoveling/car cleaning season?

Damn, I've got a lot of work to do today. I spent two hours on the phone with Bell Canada trying to resolve $18 in incorrect charges. I think their goal is to overcharge me by an amount that is small enough that I don't bother spending 2 hours trying to get them to reverse it. Good luck with that!
Okay, now, down to work. No procrastinating.

I'm getting desperate in my search for work. I just applied for a job in a chocolate factory.
Dark chocolate or milk? Because, if it is dark, that sounds like my dream job. Around here, we keep dark chocolate in a little baggie on a high shelf and call it "daddy's medicine".
EDIT: More seriously -- Good luck David. You deserve a job where your goodness is appreciated.

Keep plugging away at it. We're on pins and needles with year end approaching. My 21 yr old son can't seem to find and hold even minimum wage jobs lately. 15% unemployment in MI. Almost 30% in Detroit. Lots of suckage here.
Good luck.

yeah I have heard Michigan is bad. I'm thinking of looking in the Wichita area. I have a buddy from high school who lives there and he says they have jobs there.

We're all pulling for you. I hope you find something soon. If you were up in snowy Rochester I could try to hook you up with something, but these days, I don't even know if I could, given how scarce jobs are. :(
