Male Human Barbarian 7

Attack A18 with Recuperating Strike 27 vs AC. Gain 7 temp as Raging. Damage = 1d12+8 = 15 damage.

Frothing at the mouth, Irawaru lays into an insect foe.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Top of page bug problems (npi). Irawaru and Elohir both hit.

Even as the party lays into the soldier ants, the grievously injured giant reptile crashes through the brush into the distance. The ants, meanwhile, swarm the more visible targets, two of them stinging Hoku -19hp to Hoku, no poison, one of them bloodying itself from Aden's flames in the attempt.

The non-combatants, meanwhile, follow Hoku's lead and move toward the priestess, further into the jungle and away from the ants.

"Get out of there! We can't kill the whole nest."

Hasnett looks despairingly at her comrades, up to their necks in giant insects. She stows her morningstar and loads her crossbow, readying it for action.

Move to AA14 if I can do the stow and load as a minor and standard. Otherwise, the move and no stow and load.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir watches the giant lizard run from his ethereal vantage point with anger.

"Again they run. I wish they'd just leave us alone if they haven't the inclination to even finish a fight. Stupid beasts..."

Move and two minors is fine

"Be interesting to try though", Aden gives a small smile. "We can atleast keeo them at bay as we make our escape."

Double move to AH19

Hoku backs away from the three soldier ants, then makes a break toward Hasnett. She has a family to feed, after all.

Irawaru now looks rathe alone.

Elohir moves farther away as well and throws one small ball of flame at the ants.

Move Action: Move to R9.

Standard Action: Scorching Burst vs. REF of A22, A17, A21; 10 vs. A22, 21 vs. A17, 13 vs. A21 for 8 fire damage. [ooc]If I somehow hit A22 he takes an extra 1d6=5 damage.

Male Human Barbarian 7

Shift to T19. Blade Sweep - vs A18. 18 vs AC. If that hits, 14 damage and every bloodied enemy adjacent to me takes 2 damage.

Irawaru doesn't heed the priestess and continues to carve a swathe of ichor.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

"Sweet Melora! Why? He can't even eat them," mutters Hasnett under her breath.

Sovereign Court

Irawaru misses, and the soldier ants, one of them slightly scorched, swarm on the barbarian, biting and stinging. Four stings, one bite, three poisons, total 57hp damage to Irawaru, and -2 to attacks, se

"Oh for pity's sake..."

Hasnett moves behind the tree and pulls out her holy symbol, sending invigorating power sluicing towards the unconscious barbarian.

"Get out of there you musclebound idiot. They're ants. They're killing you. Time to leave. That goes for all of you," she adds, concern making her sound harsher than she intends. Still holding her symbol, she tries to obliterate an ant. She fails miserably.

"Although - if anyone can clear a path for him, that would help."

Move to Y14. Drop crossbow.
Minor. Healing Word on Irawaru. One surge +13, should put him at 29.
Standard. Sacred Flame.

Status confirmation from Irawaru, please?

Seeing Irawaru in danger the shadar-kai sprints back to his aid.

Double move to W18

"As long as I have the power I can't let you be dying on my watch."

Aden places his hands together and begins making hand jestures...

Dimensional Warp, placing Irawaru at W18 and Aden at T19

Everything becomes coated in darkness and when light returns Irawaru is safe.

"Hmm, well this is quite exciting", He says as the ants sting and bite around him...

"Unfortunatley I can't stay and play. That woman would have a fit" he smiles and nods at Hasnett. He takes a step forward and blinks out

Action Point; Armathor’s Step to Y14

And reappears near Hasnett

"Can we go now?"

Male Human Barbarian 7

Yep, prone on 29 HP

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

That's everybody clear of the ants. If anyone's going back in, speak up soon, otherwise I'll assume you're heading out through the jungle.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

"That was exhilarating," says Elohir sarcastically. "Shall we continue on our way? Night will be here soon and the creatures will only become more curious as the light fades."

Spending 1 healing surge to get to 51/56 HP. Currently have 9/10 surges left.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

"Keep moving."

Hasnett holds up her sunrod and keeps her eyes open for a path to follow.

"Telling you, after seeing the ants, the mosquitos around here must be HUGE."

Male Human Barbarian 7

Irawaru glowers at the ants and then at the rest of the party.

"Bunch o' bludgers." he mutters.

OOC:

Spoiler:
Does anyone have an objection if we handle XP informally? I figure you should be level seven now, after much RP and skill-rolling, defeating a (slightly wounded) level 8 solo, and several lower-level monsters.

Male Human Barbarian 7

No problem.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

Fine by me. I'll add Hasnett to the list of the upgradeable. How would you like us to handle that?

First level gain in my games is a near-free-for-all in updating. Feats, skills, powers, all fair game. Also, for those of you have not yet done so, please move your stats over to your Paizo profile. Thanks.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

OOC Spoiler:

Spoiler:
Informal XP sounds great to me. It's actually one of my preferred methods for handling levels. Expect some big updates to Elohir as I've learned a lot about warlocks and Arcane Power has been published since I made him last. I'll have the updates up and under my profile soon.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Meanwhile . . .

It's night, you're in the jungle heading the opposite direction as the hungry lizard, but both you and it away from the ants and their salvage.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir looks up intently and you can tell he's already studying the stars again and hardly paying attention to where he's going.

"He can see everywhere," Elohir whispers to himself, "amazing," and he looks off into the horizon. Trying to gauge how much further away the volcano lies.

"I'm beginning to think we should just burn the whole island to the ground. As long as the volcano is still intact..." he muses.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Elohir thinks you could probably reach the base of the volcano by dawn if you are able to navigate the jungle effectively and safely through the night.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

Hasnett listens as Elohir works out their position, politely ignoring his more peculiar comments.

"We've got light and you can navigate. Want to take a night journey everyone?"

I'm in the middle of Hasnett's re-build (if she gets one). Use stats as writ for now.

Male Human Barbarian 7

Need to get access to character builder.

Irawaru keeps an eye out for something that can be slain.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

"Yes, we should make haste," says Elohir, who still hasn't shown any signs of fatigue from the journey despite his frail appearance.

"I would recommend we form a rope-line, or walk with an arm on the shoulder of the person in front of us. We do not want to fall into any pits that we cannot see now."

Elohir fishes through his bag and pulls out an impossible length of rope from it. He then passes it back through the party.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Not having found a book rule, I use a house rule that pushing on for much more than 18 hours without an extended rest means you each lose a surge to exhaustion. Of course, some of you might want to clock a short rest at this point.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

Hasnett's OK, but Hoku and Irawaru took a beating. Up to them.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir's been a lucky bastard and still has 9 surges left. I already counted myself rested after the fight since we were just walking. He'll stop, but he'll need some convincing in-game.

Walking rest is fine. That was more a cue for people to spend their surges. Sounds like you're all trudging through the night by the unfamiliar stars?

Elohir is determined to keep moving no matter what. Reaching the volcano is very important to him. He'll keep moving unless someone else in the party gets particularly vocal. Elohir and his 19 Constitution are ready to keep going. :)

Aden has no problem with moving forward

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Toward dawn, all (save perhaps Elohir) are exhausted after trudging through the jungle for a day and a night. Finally, the trees and vines clear out, and you are at the base of the mountain. Immediately in front of you is a cave entrance, from which is shining a very bright light. No animal life is visible.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir giggles with excitement and gestures wildly to the entrance.

"Almost there, almost there! Soon the answers will be revealed!" he exclaims.

His hands are shaking from lack of eating, and his knees wobble a bit with each step, but from his facial expressions the young half-elf barely seems to notice, if at all.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

Hasnett looks from the cave to Elohir and back again, her expression unreadable.

"We're going in then?" she asks rhetorically.

"Looks that way" Aden gives a quick yawn

1d20=14

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

The cave entrance is about 8' wide (one person, or two cozy/squeezing). The light coming out is pure white, even more so than a sunrod (or sunshine, for that matter). It may be difficult to see when inside.

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir stands in awe, that funny grin returned to his face. He then opens the leather bound book in his hand and begins writing with a piece of charcoal produced from a pocket inside his vest.

female half elf cleric/ranger 7

Hasnett briefly wonders if she has any useful rituals that may help. While she's equipped to mend things, put dead comrades in a state of stasis, do without sleep or food and (as she belatedly and with some embarrassment realises), understand other languages, she doesn't honestly think that any of these are likely to be useful in the present situation.

I'm kicking myself. Hasnett had Comprehend Languages. We could have saved ourselves a lot of sneaking and heartache if she'd remembered that ten pages ago.

"I don't think we're going to need the sunrod. Some kind of eyeshade might be a plan though." She briskly pulls a strip of bandage from her backpack and cobbles together a rough bandana.

"Good look?"

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Elohir scrapes off a bit of his charcoal and rubs it vigorously around his eyes with his index finger. The effect on his emerald eyes is startling, and they seem even larger and more piercing than before, even if the overall effect looks a tad silly.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

Actions? Hoku, you still around?

"So what's the plan?" Aden squinta at the the almost intolerable light, before turing and looking at Elohir. Aden tries his best not to laugh at him or his new raccon-like look.

Sovereign Court

M Human Expert 7

So, what is the plan?

Male Half-Elf Warlock 7

Sorry, was waiting to see who else wanted to join in.

Elohir begins to step tentatively towards the cave entrance, with occasional furtive glances up into the sky. He is obviously nervous about leaving the comfort of the open sky.

"Hopefully this won't take long," he says.

At this point I think that resting beforehand would be the best course of action. But if everyone still wants to go in, then I would suggest Aden and Hasnett go first, followed by Hoku and Irawaru, and Elohir taking up the back. In character, though, Elohir wants desperately to go inside.
